Amazon customer support is clearly going to be up to date on the apple TV.
Sorry, but I have first-hand knowledge of major companies submitting apps to other companies' app stores, and lawyers are not involved in negotiations at all except in negotiating any cross-promotion deals. There, a week delay due to lawyer posturing would be very very bad for the lawyers involved. Maybe Amazon is particularly litigious, but lawyers would not at all be standing in the way of a "soft launch" on a competing platform.
Now, might Amazon have been holding out to convince Apple that they need to be able to offer on-device rentals/purchases without the 15% cut going to Apple? Maybe, but that isn't "lawyers negotiating"; that is one company seeking special treatment. You might also posit that Amazon was holding out for Apple to put a big Amazon Prime sticker on the outside of every box sold. Whatever. But don't characterize Amazon asking for special treatment as a "both sides are at fault / cats and dogs can't get along" scenario. If a delay was caused by inability to agree on terms, it was completely due to Amazon wanting special favorable terms, not Apple requiring more of Amazon than of any other app store submitter.
Does Amazon deserve special treatment? Well, that is a point that the C-level guys have I'm sure debated back and forth, and waited on the first few months' sales to see which way reality swayed.

I ditched Prime. The bottom line is that I use it to get things sent to me on time, and Amazon is no longer capable of doing that. Their video offerings are sub-par anyway.
Decided to start a free 30 day trial today and I got billed $99 immediately. WTF?! I assume it is because I have prime shared to my by someone else. Oh well. Processed a refund. Not worth $100 a yhear to me just to stream videos/movies
I already get the free two day shipping through the ability of a friend (supposed to be a family member but Amazon doesnt know that) sharing the service. Aside from that I could get amazon music and video, neither of which is worth an additional $100 to me since I basically get free Prime shipping so long as my friend keeps renewing his sub.I still don't believe that Amazon is making an app for the tv. But anyhow, you do realize the prime membership is not just for streaming movies?

will this be just amazon Prime USA or will it include UK?
thanks
Actually, it's not from a front-line rep which is what the other person would've called. This probably would've come from a higher level rep since this was as a response to feedback. You understand of course that this whole bit of "news" is based on the statement of customer service rep from Amazon right? Fabulous. Will this only happen on the Apple TV 4?
Except the Apple TV isn't really meant to compete with consoles. Much like the Wii wasn't designed to compete against the 360 and PS3. It's a companion device. Honestly, I really dislike the Fire TV's UI. That's not to say that Apple's UI is perfect, but honestly, I don't really see the 'unpolished' and 'beta' critique you're talking about. It's everything I want in a set top box for the moment. (And no, I'm not incapable of praising Amazon - I hate their Fire devices but the Echo seems to be pretty cool and something that I was surprised that Apple didn't come out with)So I went to the Apple store yesterday to look at the AppleTV. I wasn't impressed. The software seemed unpolished and in a beta to 1.0 version. That's ok if you're a relative startup, but Apple CAN afford to polish their software and release a top notch product at the first iteration. My next thought was that they might be trying to compete with gaming consoles. I played my cousins' XBox 360 and PS4 and I can confidently conclude that they're in a safe and strong position. Their feature set out classes Apple's in all respects. I was also able to play with a relative's Amazon's Fire TV. I actually liked it more than the AppleTV. The feel of the remote was superior to the current and last iterations. The software was also pleasant to work with.
