Exactly.
Each to their own
Yeah, I don't know why some people have issues with the fact that there is a market for a premium smaller device and all we're hoping for is more choice; it's not like Apple will abandon the plus for a mini.

The question remains; is this market appealing for Apple to get into? So far, their answer has been no. Hopefully we'll find out soon enough if they've had a change of heart.

Some people were demanding larger screens because Android and Samsung had larger screens. However some does not = all.

The trend is going to be reversed with devices being 3.5 to 4.5 max that include the most they can; preferable they will come one day without bezels and will be sort of like a 5mm (square edges to grab and hold easily) thick plastic? or other material card as you see in scifi movies etc. Huge brick size phones were just a fad but that will change wit time; If those massive brick phones were at least thin and foldable so can fit in pocket and hand but holding the brick to face like in the 80s just don't look good and it especially looks ugly when placed in pockets and half of it is sticking out especially when females do it is ridiculously ugly like they have a third butt cheek

I dont have an issue with it, i just think the 4" screen ship has sailed. With 5.5 - 6" phones being extremely popular its no longer shocking to see a large screen phone. A 4.7" Phone with a small bezel is the way forward for smaller footprint devices imo.

sailed? Is that why Apple i continuing to make it? You know better than Apple and at least 50% of iPhone users. 5.5-6" is a paperback book uff it especially look awful on females (males too off course)

I want something small ideal that easily fits in shirt pocket, weighing less than 100g and hardly felt in pocket. iPhone 5s was very close to that and I hope Apple continues to improve the 4" phone to ideal power device.

They should keep the correct names and simplify the lineup to 3 sizes \ 2 generations for different price points. For example the next lineup should look like this -

iPhone 7 mini, 7, 7 plus & iPhone 6s mini (SE), 6s, 6s plus

On different note, im hoping they'll surprise us and use 4.3” screen for the rumored SE iPhone…

Even a 5" screen is small there days, a 4" screen on a smartphone is pointless imo. There is a reason Smartphone screens have gotten bigger not smaller.

I always thought the iPhone was too small, so I stayed with android and bigger screen phones for a long time. It was until the iPhone 5s at I started appreciating the size more, still liked my iPhone 6 and 6s, but I no longer want a big phone.

Considering millions are still on a smaller iPhone I would still say it is important.

I feel like some fought and said the iPhone were the perfect size at 3.5 and 4 inches, and no one would want a bigger screen besides android phone. I think they are now the ones saying it's dumb to have a smaller iPhone again, I think they wait until Apple does something before they agree.

Why can't we all see that everyone has a different screen size that we enjoy and want to use

Not a chance of going back. I upgraded from 5S to the 6S last September and never once looked back. My GF is on a 5S still and everytime she asks me to show her how to do something on her phone, it's painful to go back to that size screen, and everything seems cramped. I would never go back.

She, on the other hand, will love the new SE when her contract is up and she comes due for an upgrade. She told me more than once that the 6-series is too big for her and that if Apple was going to no longer offer 4" size phones that she would move away from the iPhone and go with something else.

So it does seem that there is certainly a market for 4" iPhones, I'm just not part of it. I debated going with the 6S Plus but decided against it only because I figured the 6S would have the edge in terms of performance.

I would argue that it's not the least bit pointless if around a quarter of the market prefers a 4". I'm going from a 5s to the SE because I don't like the size of the 6/s. My parents prefer 4". My roommate prefers 4". There's still a large market for it.

I couldn't possible see them marketing it as "no compromise" or something like that if it doesn't have 2gb of ram. If it has one, as much as I want a smaller device, I'll have to go 6s .

I really feel sorry for all the people that suffering when they need to use small phones. I hope Apple will release new 8” iPhone for you all.

When has Apple ever marketed any product as "no compromise"? Apple is a study in compromise. The recent camera bump controversy is a publicly admitted compromise.

I don't see 1GB on a 4" device as a compromise at all, considering how much less RAM the display needs. I'd actually wonder if 2GB was enough to drive an iPhone Plus model, especially when combined with the reality that a larger screen is far more likely to be used for web intensive services and multitasking, than a 4" screen.

I'd much rather have a smaller device with a fast processor and sufficient ram to meet my needs for the next several years as needed.

A8+1gb and I'd probably pass. A9+1gb I'd consider it. A9+2gb and I'll buy the second it's available.

More like A8+1gb+anyMP and I will pass. A9+1gb+8MP I'd consider it. A9+1gb+12MP and A9+2gb+12MP and I'll buy the second it's available

I haven't said they would market it any way for sure. But by the way it seems, this is no 5c type budget redo so I could see them saying something along those lines and marketing it as the best just in a smaller package. In that case I'd hope they mean it.

I agree, A9 and 12MP (with 1 or 2GB of RAM either way) would be a great upgrade for me from my 6, but I'm still not sure if I want to jump back on the size again. I probably will wait for the 7 cause I'm excited for that launch.

A bit off topic, but can someone explain whats the connection between RAM and display ?

For what i know, at least on computers, the GPU (with onboard memory) is whats running the display, and the RAM is your “working space” - the more you having, you can do more things simultaneously, i.e. more open apps\programs, tabs on safari, plugins and samples (in Logic) etc.

I highly doubt mobile devices have dedicated memory allocated to the GPU.

Well now the iPhone 7 is rumored to have the same design as the 6. That was the main thing I was looking forward to. This makes the SE even more tempting....

I'm gonna guess that it will be very similar but with hidden antenna lines. Having a smaller footprint with the same size screen would have me in line. Unfortunately I don't think Apple is ready for that until 2017 at least.

Not me, I couldn't go back to 4''
I may switch to a smaller phone only if I decided to carry an iPad mini with me all the time, in that case I'd use the phone only for calls and messages, but I prefer a bigger phone to be able to carry only one device with me

Yeah I'm thinking that too, hidden antenna lines and a flush camera. Maybe two flushed cam lenses, who knows. That stuff never really bothered me anyway and it definitely isn't enough to get me to upgrade just for that minor design change. Depending on what features come out on it, I may only upgrade if I decide that I want the Plus, in which case the upgrade would make sense. But for now there's not a lot seeming to compelling for upgrades. The 6s doesn't have any features that I really want, so if the 7 is gonna use the same basic design as the 6 I'm using now, it needs to have some decent new features to get me to upgrade. And I still may go for that SE....
