Even a 5" screen is small there days, a 4" screen on a smartphone is pointless imo. There is a reason Smartphone screens have gotten bigger not smaller.
Yeah, I don't know why some people have issues with the fact that there is a market for a premium smaller device and all we're hoping for is more choice; it's not like Apple will abandon the plus for a mini. Each to their own
I dont have an issue with it, i just think the 4" screen ship has sailed. With 5.5 - 6" phones being extremely popular its no longer shocking to see a large screen phone. A 4.7" Phone with a small bezel is the way forward for smaller footprint devices imo.Exactly.

The question remains; is this market appealing for Apple to get into? So far, their answer has been no. Hopefully we'll find out soon enough if they've had a change of heart.
sailed? Is that why Apple i continuing to make it? You know better than Apple and at least 50% of iPhone users. 5.5-6" is a paperback book uff it especially look awful on females (males too off course)I dont have an issue with it, i just think the 4" screen ship has sailed. I would argue that it's not the least bit pointless if around a quarter of the market prefers a 4". I'm going from a 5s to the SE because I don't like the size of the 6/s. My parents prefer 4". My roommate prefers 4". There's still a large market for it.Even a 5" screen is small there days, a 4" screen on a smartphone is pointless imo. Not a chance of going back. I upgraded from 5S to the 6S last September and never once looked back. My GF is on a 5S still and everytime she asks me to show her how to do something on her phone, it's painful to go back to that size screen, and everything seems cramped. I would never go back.
I couldn't possible see them marketing it as "no compromise" or something like that if it doesn't have 2gb of ram. If it has one, as much as I want a smaller device, I'll have to go 6s .
A8+1gb and I'd probably pass. A9+1gb I'd consider it. A9+2gb and I'll buy the second it's available.
I haven't said they would market it any way for sure. But by the way it seems, this is no 5c type budget redo so I could see them saying something along those lines and marketing it as the best just in a smaller package. In that case I'd hope they mean it.When has Apple ever marketed any product as "no compromise"? Apple is a study in compromise. The recent camera bump controversy is a publicly admitted compromise.
I don't see 1GB on a 4" device as a compromise at all, considering how much less RAM the display needs. I'd actually wonder if 2GB was enough to drive an iPhone Plus model, especially when combined with the reality that a larger screen is far more likely to be used for web intensive services and multitasking, than a 4" screen.
I'd much rather have a smaller device with a fast processor and sufficient ram to meet my needs for the next several years as needed.
I agree, A9 and 12MP (with 1 or 2GB of RAM either way) would be a great upgrade for me from my 6, but I'm still not sure if I want to jump back on the size again. I probably will wait for the 7 cause I'm excited for that launch.More like A8+1gb+anyMP and I will pass. A9+1gb+8MP I'd consider it. A9+1gb+12MP and A9+2gb+12MP and I'll buy the second it's available

I highly doubt mobile devices have dedicated memory allocated to the GPU.A bit off topic, but can someone explain whats the connection between RAM and display ?
For what i know, at least on computers, the GPU (with onboard memory) is whats running the display, and the RAM is your “working space” - the more you having, you can do more things simultaneously, i.e. more open apps\programs, tabs on safari, plugins and samples (in Logic) etc.

I'm gonna guess that it will be very similar but with hidden antenna lines. Having a smaller footprint with the same size screen would have me in line. Unfortunately I don't think Apple is ready for that until 2017 at least.Well now the iPhone 7 is rumored to have the same design as the 6. That was the main thing I was looking forward to. This makes the SE even more tempting....
Yeah I'm thinking that too, hidden antenna lines and a flush camera. Maybe two flushed cam lenses, who knows. That stuff never really bothered me anyway and it definitely isn't enough to get me to upgrade just for that minor design change. Depending on what features come out on it, I may only upgrade if I decide that I want the Plus, in which case the upgrade would make sense. But for now there's not a lot seeming to compelling for upgrades. The 6s doesn't have any features that I really want, so if the 7 is gonna use the same basic design as the 6 I'm using now, it needs to have some decent new features to get me to upgrade. And I still may go for that SE....I'm gonna guess that it will be very similar but with hidden antenna lines. Having a smaller footprint with the same size screen would have me in line.
