I live in a area with weak signal on my phones, and my Xs Max is just fine. People need to reset their network settings and it fixes the issue. Many do not have any issues.

Yep, when I am having anxiety constantly watching what apps are eating my battery life up (Note 9), or having to constantly fix apps causing issues, that is wasting my time. The iPhone just works and I don't have to do any of that. And for probably 90% of the people, the iPhone does what most users need and does it well.
[doublepost=1538006820][/doublepost]

Yep, and Samsung, call them, wait on hold for an hour, then you get a foreign person, and then, they troubleshoot, sometimes won't believe you, might take multiple calls, and when they decide to replace, you will be without a phone for 2 weeks. They don't send you a replacement and you send yours back.

Yes, it’s shocking people choose to do business with a company that treats its customers that in such a way, when there are much better alternatives for the same price.

Not many people talk about apple support and apple retail, but it is a huge advantage over android and android oems.

Peace of mind when something goes wrong trumps personalizing an individuals home screen or default apps.
At least for me it is.

what do you need to configure on android to make it work out of the box?
You don't need to do anything. Android works out of the box just as well as iOS. It does, however, offer those who want to delve deeper an opportunity to configure their phone to have it work as they want. I like to analyse my day and see how my phone can be of service to me in the things I do. I don't want to have to adapt to how my phone works like I would with iOS. A bit of configuration makes it so much more useable.

Went from the iPhone 7 to the Galaxy S8 to the iPhone 8 then back to the S8 then S9. Made the jump again to the Xs and will not go back. I love the design of the S9 and Samsung Pay is amazing but iOS12 is so buttery smooth in comparison. Was skeptical of the notch and Face ID but they've both been none issues. Now to just teach my brain to stop feeling for a finger print sensor in the back.

Not true, it does not work just as well. If it did, it wouldn't need constant maintenance to keep battery life going smoothly, or apps getting stuck in the background causing the phone to get hot, and so on.

No, you need one that supports IQ.

You are telling old story stuck in past.
Seems like you never use a recent android phone for an extended period.

Android has built in mechanism to ensure apps dont go haywire.
Samsung (and many others) even have added software that check for rogue apps that consume battery and close them automatically.

In iPhone you have to manually disable apps from running in background. If not those apps keep consuming battery. So iPhone requires more maintenance.

The new iPhones are soo expensive! I don’t mean just they’re starting price but to any type of damage, eg if it drops and the back glass breaks...$600!

Still in shock they don’t include the AirPods or a dongle.

It’s clear Apple are trying to as they always have keep it in house but Beats are awful abd overpriced.

Anyway I’m going off subject but imho go for a Samsung Note this time around, they fitted a pencil in there too. Has anyone seen how an Apple Pencil looks with an iPad lol the funniest thing.

WTH are you talking about? It happens on my Note 9 and S9+. This is current and not stuck in the past. Get off your kick thinking it isn't still happening.

Yep, you are right, my Note 9 or S9+ you have to go into the battery area, and see what apps its draining, and say fix them. It still does it till you do that.

What Android phone were you using ?

My Pixel 2 XL "just works". Meaning zero issues. Apps are great. Long lasting battery. And an OS that is superb, just so smooth and fuid

Note 9, and s9 plus. They don't "just" work. At least once every week maybe two, I have an app that the phone says is draining the battery and I have to go into the battery area and fix the app. lol.

It works for me.

Then don't go install rouge apps and blame the phone. At least the phone is intelligent enough to tell you what apps are problematic. If you install a rouge app on your xs max it will drain battery too. But you won't be so quick to say the iPhone is crap :p

For me once the phone notify me of rogue apps, i either see whether there are alternatives or I just put those apps into "Always Sleeping Apps". You didn't do that?

Well myself and wife NEVER have this problems on our Android phones.

But we're a Pixel / Nexus phone family for many years.

No force closes ever
No battery issues ever
No freeze ups ever
No screen issues ever
No lag or slow down ever

Maybe going back 5+ years ago stuff like that would happen, but never on anything like a Nexus 6P or Pixel 2 XL .

Can't speak for Samsung phones, haven't owned a Galaxy phone in a few years, not a big fan of TouchWiz.

I concur. If you buy google phones you get great customer service and a fast smooth product.

I switched to the iPhone to just do something different after 5 years. I’m enjoying iOS and don’t need to tinker. I didn’t tinker on my pixel either.

Disposable income isn’t an issue for me and sometimes you gotta spurge. These things are all horrible waste of money. :)

Pixels are great phones. Started noticing some stutters on my pixel 2 xl though since pie and I don't have much on my phone installed. I use an iPhone x now and it's smooth as butter.

I've owned all Samsung S series up to the s9+, all the note series up to note 7. I recently got the max for a few days, then exchanged for the XS and still using the s9+.

As mentioned many times, the swipe features on the iOS is so cool. Other than that, nothing special.

I think the one hand operation+ gesture of the Samsung is so much more useful.
Firstly it is at left and right side which is much better when using phone one handed. (And you can have 12 different gestures - 6 gestures per side)

With it using my note9 one handed is no issue at all. You can never effectively use XS Max one handed.

I’ll give you this. Having an android phone go bad feels like being stuck on the highway all alone with a flat tire and no spare.

Amusing thread. Post after post about what each person considers “better”, when really they are desribing what they prefer. Let’s just leave it at that. It’s a preference.

Let's see

"You prefer the lower benchmark score of sd845 compared a12 bionic...so sd845 is better"

There is a certain order of things which can be measured just like your grades at school. Yes, a good grade doesn't define who you are but it certainly define which university you can get in.

This is how some ifans (not saying it is you) debate. When the going gets tough, they just use the "preference" to cop out.

More nonsense. Again, it’s just a preference. Not a science. Get over yourself, it’s just a phone.

If it's just preference, why you reply to my post? You can't stand what I posted? Get over it friend. Fact: Android can do much more..you dont agree that's your issue.

I will say this. If you have $600 to buy a brand new phone in 2018, the Oneplus 6 and upcoming 6T are impossible to beat. Dash charge is the best charging tech ever created. The op6 runs oxygen os, which is like stock android on steroids. If an iPhone performed like that for $600, people would be losing their minds. As it is, many people don’t trust Oneplus due to their sketchy history and lying on benchmarks. All that aside, for $600 you will not find a better brand new phone on android or iOS. A lot of android haters might change their tune after 14 days using a 6/6T. Then again, they might feel like google is spying on them and miss the features only iOS provides.

My 2xl is the most smooth of my android phones but I can’t be bothered to use it just due to QC issues. Went through 8 in 4 months. I have so many 2xl boxes in my drawers LOL

Stock android is not a necessity now when Oneplus and Moto run basically stock and have some helpful tweaks. Google phones are a mess, but they’re nice when they run right.
