I drive a 6 speed manual transmission car, no time for my phone I'm focused on the road and my gearbox. Like a driver should be. I don't even text a red lights because I won't be that ******* that needs to be honked at when the light changes because my face is in my phone.

There is a time and a place for texting
and behind the wheel isn't one of them, even if you're using Siri.

THANK YOU. SOMEONE WITH A HEAD ON THEIR SHOULDERS.. FOR THE REST OF YOU.. IMAGINE HAVING TO LISTEN TO HER SAY ONE OF THESE STUPID COMMENTS AFTER EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU USE THE TIMER (I use the timer via Siri probably 10-20x/day)..

It's not like I'm asking for much. Or asking for any "added" functions. "Disabling" a function like this should be the simplest task. It, in no way whatsoever, affects the way Siri works. It's just annoying to listen to the same FOUR quirks OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER AGAIN!

:frustrated:

Calm down, stop swearing and typing in caps and people might actually help you. As it is you come across like a 14 year old throwing a tantrum.

I agree with the op. Usually I don't mind the extra comments here and there, but when I'm having a stressful day and Siri says something stupid, I just want her to shut up. Just set my timer and don't be a smart ass about it. Setting a timer isn't something that requires commenting about. Just confirm you set it and be done.

I think there is an option in Siri settings for this. I'm gonna go check it out now.

The comments here are so unsympathetic it makes me wonder why anybody responded. Basically the attitude it "well I like it so you're the one with the problem. Nananana"

I drive a 6-speed manual too. Using Siri over Bluetooth is pretty easy.

LOUD NOISES!!!!!11!!!1!!

I tried your requests and got nothing but normal answers, must be on a system that every X amount of requests it makes a joke. Not going to bother the average user but I can see it being annoying if you are a constant user.

It's the heuristics. The programme takes a chance based on what you've said.

Just out of curiosity, I did exactly what the original poster did. I did not get all the responses he got, but to the 60-minute timer I got exactly the same response he got.

I'm probably going to get rocks thrown at me here, but I'm going to go out on a limb and comment that I have a little better luck with "Okay Google Now" than I have with "Hey SIRI."

I have a Moto X that I bought just to see what the fuss was about, and I've noticed that I get fewer errors and better detailed help with Google than I get with SIRI.

Maybe that's just me.

There's no silliness with Google, either, at least not in my case.

Googles entire business is built on data so it really isn't surprising that this is an area they are better in. I use it through the app on the Iphone but it has limited use on IOS unfortunately.

YOU GUYS ARE ALL MISSING THE POINT HERE!

I don't care about her comments specifically.. I'm upset that Apple has developed something with the potential to be perfect, but leaving out the one option to get it there.. I set my timer probably 25+ times per day for the kind of work I do.. It's more convenient using Siri, no matter how easy it is to access the 'Timer' manually..

If I turn off Voice Feedback, I don't get to hear her acknowledge the command I give her.. Like one user said, she CANNOT distinguish between "Sixteen" and "Sixty", "Fifteen" and "Fifty", etc, etc..

All I want,

is for Siri to be as minimal and as much of a basic b**** as possible.. I want her to say "Your timer is set for "x", etc".. and then NOTHING ELSE..

My frustration is that it was pretty funny hearing the first couple times.. Maybe even the first dozen times.. but with the amount of times every day that I use Siri to access the "Timer", it's just getting old hearing the same 4 quips OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!

The best way I can describe the feeling..

Is from this scene in "Office Space".. Now do you guys understand my frustration?

Isn't there an alternative? An app for that? I mean, it seems to me that the vast majority of users are likely to favor a more "human" interface to Siri than what's required in your very special case scenario. Apple could offer a more stripped down version, but I seriously doubt doing so would be as trivial as you suggest. Seems to me that you're simply the victim of unique circumstance.

Remove "chatty mode?"

I dislike the "clever" bits thrown in to make Siri seem more human, mostly because I hear them over and over. Like the OP, I use timers a lot. If there were a "chatty" setting, not unlike the various personality settings on the Interstellar robots, I'd dial it back to zero.

Following this thread in the hopes of finding little hidden way to do this has been like stumbling onto a game of telephone. The conversation has wound around from accusing OP of being lazy, humorless (granted he did start off with Pissy dialed up to 10), and has ended up with comments about using a phone while driving. It'd be fun if I weren't just looking for an answer. The consensus seems to be that there isn't a way to do this.

There is no such option. There probably never will be.

There is, however, an option of anger management counseling. You really shouldn't let something so trivial tick you off to this degree.

Any way to TURN OFF Siri's STUPID comments?

HAL 9000: "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that"

I kind of get a kick out of some of the witty comments but I really don't use Siri all that much to get annoyed by it.

Is there any way to TURN OFF Siri's STUPID comments?

I am using an iPhone 5s (iOS 8.0.2) .. I use Siri pretty much all day (setting timers mostly -- helps keep me on task).. I am SO SICK of listening to all of Siri's STUPID ******** COMMENTS every time I use this function..

When setting a timer:

"oh the suspense is killing me"
"some stupid ******** ***** about a good iphone doesn't boil over"
"roger that"

When my GF asked Siri where the closest tanning salon was:

"It's not good to be overdone"

ARE YOU ******** KIDDING ME? I get that Apple is trying to be "edgy" and "cool" and "hip" but commenting on someone's life choices is not Apple's place..

The rest of the things I mentioned are just plain annoying.

I would like to use Siri, have it do what I ask, not throw in some stupid comments after everything I do.

Is there a way to disable that aspect of it or is this yet again, another design flaw by Apple?

I understand that these annoy you, but reading these has made my morning. Everyone on the bus is wondering what I'm laughing at! :D

Love the fact that Siri has a sense of humour, though maybe she needs some new material.

I never hear Siri make a snarky comment. I turned her off completely. I think Siri is the worst feature Apple ever dreamed up. She only got about 10% of my requests so I turned her off.

I also get pretty annoyed at the 'witty' comments Siri makes.
I'd turn them off if I was able to, but I don't want to lose the useful feedback.
