I bought my 2.0Ghz MacBook Unibody (CE) just over a month ago, now they have fixed everything that I thought was lacking, 8Gb ram max, illuminated keyboard, I am always using SD Cards (there was no clue that they would include these!), a better screen would be greatly appreciated (mine is an LG and it's ok, but not great), longer battery life!! I can't see myself ever carrying around a 2nd battery and my machine always runs out of juice.

I didn't want a laptop bigger than the 13" screen and previously the unibody MacBook was the only option. In one day, they halved the value of my recent purchase.

Do you think that if my mainboard was to fail in the next couple of months, they would replace it with one of the new ones?

I think it's stupid for UMB owners to upgrade right now, the intel core 2 duo is aging, at least wait until they start dropping i7's into those babies, then it'll be worth the upgrade. i mean come on seriously, they rebranded it but left all of the important internals the same, and still only 2gb ram standard??? come onnnn

I too returned my old macbook. I lucked out. I didn't have to pay the restocking fee and walked out of the store with $100 in my pocket.

While it would be really cool to have the new 13" MBP... I don't really NEED it. My 2.4GHz 4GB UMB does just fine for what I need.

The only reason why I would buy the new 13" MPB would be for the battery life... everything else doesn't matter to me too much.

Were you within your 14 days? Also, which apple store?
I'm trying to return mine but I purchased 16 days before the upgrade, just 2 days late.

It all depends on the store and the manager. My buddy bought his Unibody Macbook a month before WWDC. He went down to his local Apple store where he bought it and the manager gave him his money back with no restocking fee and my buddy ordered the new 13"MBP online with free iPod Touch.

I don't think he was acting better than you.

So who is on that high horse, Mr. Collectors Edition?

whoa whoa whoa! Speaking for myself here, I dont really think that my computer is ever going to be a "collector's Edition", its just something funny/catchy to say since our models were only out for around 9 months. I know they technically still exist in the 13" MBP form factor, but I dont think apple changes names of stuff so quickly so often

See, you put what I wanted to say much more eloquently than I would have. This forum is pretty flame-free compared to other places I post, so thanks! :)

Somebody finally gets it!!!!
*HIGH FIVE*

funny one of the only reasons to upgrade would be the discrete video on the Pro, but now Apple has that setup only on the High End MBP 15.4" and the 17" so not worth the $ for Snow:rolleyes:

I am currently sporting an Mac Classic Unibody MB 13.3 with the 2.4 CPU and 4GB/320GB HDD.

The fact that I have 3 years before I really need to replace it and I can upgrade the HDD and replace the battery myself is cool.

MacBook SE is here to stay, besides current upgrades are not worth having to redo my entire MB, sell it buy another would lose too much $.

You know what? I'm not going to talk about this anymore and I urge all (early 2009) Whitebook 2.4Ghz owners out there to call yours "Elite Edition" as it makes just as much sense. :p

My parents had purchased two base UMB for my sister and me for graduation, and fortunately it was within the 14 days, so I went to best buy and they gave me credit to purchase the new ones without the restocking fee. Since they were actually cheaper, I went today and picked up a base model and the 2.53 GHz model for $100 more. And I got two Canon photo printers for $10 each (they were marked incorrectly). Talk about a good day.

Unfortunately I can't use it yet since it is currently transferring all my files from my previous Mac through migration assistant...wirelessly. It's painfully long (8 hours/ 4 more to go).

Does anyone know how I would go about getting Snow Leopard for $10 since I just purchased them?

Congrats on that!

I think details about how new owners are getting SL for $10 is still non-existant, no?

I just upgraded yesterday. I bought a 2.0 uMB in january. I sold it for $1100 the day they announced the new ones. I bought the 2.26 MBP model. When you combine the education discount and the iPod touch and printer I got for free (which I plan to sell for ~180) I will essentially have gotten paid $40 to upgrade to the new model.

Have a question. I bought iLife and iWork. I'm going to put it on ebay and wanted to advertise it as having iLife and iWork. How would I go about leaving this installed when I wipe out the HD? TYIA
