How is it that nobody else seem to be reporting this?
This is absolutely crazy, I cannot use my phone for anything now. How can an issue with Apple's servers affect other apps that I use and make them crash?? Not a single non-apple app can be opened right now and all of them are asking for the iTunes Store password. Why is a Facebook or a Camera+ app asking for the iTunes Store password??

My Iphone 5 has not been affected to that severity. I can't download anything however all my apps work fine that i already have. I will agree that that is absolutely crazy. If apple is doing maintenance they should have warned us. In reality its been down for far too long.

That is weird...I can sign in with my apple id that is associated with our dev portal and it works just fine. But, that appears to be the only service that is working right now.
Doesn't work for me but iCloud works just fine, mail and everything. :)

problems with the xcode backdoor ;)

App Store, iCloud, Siri (did that go down or not?) and iTunes working for me. Game Center seems a little weird though: shows my number of games but not the list of what they are.

App updates download fine. All apps seem to run fine; no crashes. I guess I slept through the worst of it.

Apple should post a status page to indicate whether the status page is updating properly or not. And then another status page for the status page for the status page.

People are reporting on this. Just about every tech blog has picked up on it and has a story on it. Twitter is on fire about it. And as far as I can tell it is trending on FB. What more do you want?

Evidently, the process to install an OS fix is for the OS to download it first, then ask for verification through logging in with your Apple ID, then install the fix. Well, I was prompted for my Apple ID just now, and got the SCAN_CODE_ERROR failure, which meant my Apple ID login wasn't recognized. I would believe that this also means that the install process should stop at that point. But it didn't. My system rebooted and the install was completed anyway.

Isn't this a bug?

People are reporting that they cannot download apps and connect to iTunes Store and what not.

But why do I need to connect to the iTunes Store to open the Facebook app that I already downloaded? It works fine on some of my friend's phones, they just can't connect to the App store like everyone else. But I cannot open ANY apps, they just crash in airplane mode or with internet connection they keep asking me for the iTunes Store password.

I don't see a reason why these non-Apple apps need the passwords again, they are already downloaded on the phone..

Just updated. It's official

- App Store is globally down
- iTunes Store is globally down
- Mac App Store is globally down
- iBooks Store is probably globally down

This is just a guess...but with Apple moving away from Akami and using their own CDN, I am guessing everything is trying to communicate with ax.itunes.apple.com. Now, with that being down at the moment, the os/apps have no idea what else to do and crash.

Check the crash logs and see what they say.
