How is that any different than any other poorly designed watch app?

The watch face would require more APIs and deeper integration within the watches core. An app is one thing, a face is the entire experience of the watch. Additionally, they were expected from day one to allow 3rd party apps, while people have wanted 3rd party faces Apple doesn't need to offer it yet.

Just as a point of clarity...

Apple's resistance to 3rd party faces probably has very little to do with...
Perhaps. There are all sorts of things it probably has very little to do with. I can think of dozens.

So beautiful... take my money!

What is that UVI thing on the watch face?? A new sensor detecting the UV?

The UV index score is shown in the wheather app. It basically tells you how you should protect yourself from harmful UV sunrays. The only thing is that next to the score (in the weather app) they could provide an explanation to the UV score. I often need to look up on the internet what index value 3 stands for.

Ah.... I thought these were pretty gimmicky and that I didn't really need one. And I kinda still do. But damn, it looks cool. Think this one is gonna hook me. You win, Apple. You win.

Looks nice! I bought the series one when it came out but sold after a few months. Won a series 3 a few months ago in a raffle so I've been rocking it. I love it but not sure I would have spent my money on it. I am digging the bigger screen

I loved it when I first saw that watch face - and 24 hours later, I still love it. I can understand why people might think its too packed, but once you arrange the data sources the way you want them, it becomes easy to quickly glance at it and open it. Wish I can update, already have a Series 3 and its working just fine

Just a thought - but what if the new hole on the side is not a new microphone but is in fact the release for a physical sim card? It could be that the button doubles as a sim card holder.

In the UK we still only have a single cell provider that has the capability to allow multiple devices on the same sim. If I wanted to get a GPS + cell watch I have to get an EE contract. This could be apple backing down and allowing a physical sim card??

So this gold ring image is supposed to represent the new digital crown for Gold watch?

The angle is deceiving, here is a diagram of the 38mm. It’s plain to see the bezels are quite large (note the “display active area”.)

If you look at the leaked photo near the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock areas (and the corners as well) it looks like the image comes much closer to the edge of the watch face than the current screen could allow.

Additionally, there is a leak that did not address rounded corners, but which pegged the screen size at 1.57” (39.9mm). If you believe that rumor, a little math says the screen dimensions would be about 30.73mm (H) x 25.45mm (W) with approx a 2mm bezel inside the 34.78 x 29.49 watch face.

If you draw a regular rectangle of that height and width within the watch face, the four sides would have the 2mm bezel but at the rounded corners of the watch face, the 90° corners of that rectangle would violate the minimum bezel width around the watch face. (See the red rectangle in the drawing.) So the corners must be rounded—again, if you believe the rumor of a 1.57” screen size.

Yah man, rounded corners maybe. If that is how it must be done, then that is how they must do it. They want to make the best, so they can take the hard way of doing things if needed and hopefully in the future they can make it simpler and more cost efficient. But I'm liking what you posted. It answers "how to make a bigger screen for Apple Watch"

gold is in (again)

I had a space gray original watch and bought the gold in Watch 3 which was a bit warmer and sort of a cross between older gold and rose gold–with a bit of trepidation-but love the gold and would buy it again in watch upgrades (but doubt I upgrade to 4 since I’m very happy with 3–good battery life, cellular works great for me, fast enough for apps). The new face is very nice but I prefer the 38mm and suspect that size would be very busy with that many complications, etc.

What if bacon was sentient? It’s equally likely.

Apple doesn’t want SIM cards on their PHONES, let alone their watches.

The other analog watch faces all have customizable details for the tick marks, I don’t see why this wouldn’t. You could also use one of the NINE COMPLICATIONS for a digital clock if you wanted.

CPU specs generally leak through something like GeekBench, of which the watch has no equivalent.
Well thanks for that, didnt know that i was able to do that in the complications!

Love the new watch face. Hoping they'll have more new faces than this, but this is pretty great. I know the complications look a bit busy to some, but I really like the information density and the creative way all the complications are using the space. But since the corner complications are no longer simple rectangles, I wonder if this means all apps have to be specifically programmed to use the space. What would happen to a complication that's not updated?

This has me considering selling my Series 3 Ceramic... Really kicking myself for the tiny, barely visible scratch on the screen right now. Might be worth taking advantage of Apple Care.
