The 4.01 update didn't fix the awful audio quality people get when I answer the call via my plantronics Bluetooth headset. Seems like the only bug they have fixed is the signal strength 'lie'

Yeah - this is my biggest complaint as well. I have a Plantronic 925 that sounds like crap to anyone I'm talking to.

And yet you bought one anyway?

He's a masochist!

Always surprises me how so many supposive iPhone owners here hate their phone and make statements that just don't seem to fit. Make you wonder if they actually have one or not?

I know the iPhone4 is not perfect... but it's damn good and I'm glad I updated. The speed, the screen, the new camera, FaceTime... killer!

People shouldn't have to pay for something which fixes the problem that shouldn't have existed in the first place though.

I reckon if they do offer bumpers they'll be free.

the bumper case has done nothing for me, so im hoping for the recall

my bars dropped from 5 to 3, good fix, I prefer to know the real signal strenght then to have 5 bars that say nothing :)

That's one fix down, one more to go (on the iPhone 4)... let's see what they do about the antennas tomorrow

Tomorrow is D-Day

Either Apple steps up and fixes this issue once and for all tomorrow or its back to a 3GS for me..... 4.0.1 was no fix at all.

Don't wait to be disappointed tomorrow. Just return yours today.

I wonder if this fixed the Aperture 3 GPS import from iPhone 4 photos issue. I don't have my laptop here to test it. But one of the two ways to geotag photos taken with other cameras was to use the GPS location of one of your iPhone photos taken at the same location. When I tried to do this using the iPhone 4 the dialog box would come up empty.

Where did it say ANYWHERE that todays update was going to fix the reception issue???????? My goodness... stop complaining about something that was not even rumored. UGH!!!!!

Do you really think if it was a software fix, they would be having a press conference about it tomorrow????? Double UGH!

I find it odd that the iPad 3G doesn't get these new bars visually and the new calculation formula.

The proximity sensor does seem to be fixed but I'd happily swap that problem for having to call everyone back while I'm using the headset. My 925 and also the 520 are useless for receiving calls

Hey Popeye. Apple was the one saying it was a software problem, not some Rumor. Having an iPhone that has dropped over 20 calls on me (business calls) it a total failure on Apple's part so quit being a fan boy and wake up to the facts that this product has a serious problem. Get your head out of Steve's groin.

I got a bumper from my 'rents since the case I want won't be in until next month and I haven't had a single issue. But then again the Techno God love me since everything else in my life goes to *****.

Hi,

My wife's phone is showing three bars when it is sitting on my desk but when I pick it up it drops down to one bar.

...Oh yeah, it's an LG EVE.

s.

I think it's funny now I can really see the "1" bar much better. Thanks Apple for allowing me to see clearly how crappy your network really is!!! What a fricking joke.

Except that Apple doesn't own the network. That would be at&t you're thinking of. In any case, I agree with you on the new bars. I'm glad they updated the way they're calculated, but yikes are they ugly.

I'd love to keep the new way the signal strength is calculated and bring the old bars back.

Okay so I've posted here and there for the last bit updating people with my experience updating to 4.0.1 and 3.2.1

Here it is...

iPad WiFi (3.2.1)

I had the WiFi issues in iOS 3.2 Flickering WiFi display, "Connecting..", and asking for password. After updating to iOS 3.2.1, WiFi was not working AT ALL. but I performed a restore in iTunes, and reset my router. Now my iPad is working 100% fine. No problems at all whatsoever. Happy here :) (finally )

iPhone 4 (4.0.1)

In iOS 4.0, I had the deathgrip issue...however it didn't really affect me majority of the time. In my house I got between 3-5 bars. 3-4 bars downstairs and 4-5 bars upstair. After updating to iOS 4.0.1 I'm still getting the same amount of bars, however I have noticed that the signal is more sensitive but I suppose if it's now just showing what we had all along, then does it matter? As for the deathgrip...I was quite surprised. iOS 4.0.1 is to enhance the way the signal is calculated to provide a more accurate and sensitive display of what we really have. So when i performed the deathgrip, after one minute I had only dropped ONE bar from 5 bars to 4 bars, where as If i did this before then i'd go down to 1-2 bars withing 30-40 seconds. So this software update has improved the issue. I'm not saying it will magically fix everyones issue, but I'm just saying what I'm experiencing. Deathgrip is now a total non-issue for me. Please no flaming  As i posted earlier, the proximity sensor issue seems to be fixed. I didn't experience this issue but I think that this update has improved it by keeping the screen off a little longer after removing from your ear. I'm not 100% sure of this, but i've seen some posts from other people who had the problem saying that its fixed.

I was contemplating selling my iPhone 4, but I'm 100% happy now. However there is still tomorrow to see what Apple have to say (should it be iPhone 4 antenna related)

What??? Where did Apple or anyone say today's fix was including the reception issue or did they ever come out and say it was just software? They said there was an issue with the way the signal was being reported... that is fixed now... and all the "poo-poo'ers" that were expecting to bars to be artificially made bigger are now seeing less bars... awwww... Apple didn't try and trick us... darn!

So... show me! give us a link!

Also... your dropped calls are probably due to the Proximity sensor error and not the antenna issue. Since I doubt you walked around with your phone in the position that is known to screw things up. I use mine everyday too BTW for business calls. All day long.

To be fair to Apple, they did say it was a software problem that was making your crappy reception look better. Now they're just accurately displaying your crappy reception. They didn't promise any more than that.

This update made my iPhone 3G snappier but still camera wont open!!! This is not good update at all.

...what do you think?

...will my iphone4, which was shipped today, come with 4.01? and will it include "the fix" that is going to be announced tomorrow?
