"...will be available to order worldwide starting Friday, June 17 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple said deliveries to customers and in-store availability will begin Friday, June 24."

So is the review embargo lifting on June 17 or June 24?

Too bad, I thought at first that the M2 Air is available for pre-order.
WTF, there is really no reason at all to order this Pro 13 M2, it is old, it is heavier and above all more expensive than the MB Pro 14.
Apple, give us what we want to buy!

Was very surprised to see it comes with a TouchBar. Weird. I really liked the TouchBar (or at least the promise of what it would have been able to do if other developers had utilized it, but could see now why they didn't--Apple didn't support it much). But, on my 2018 13" MBP, the TouchBar was super flakey, meaning it would frequently just turn off, go black, then sometimes come back on when I Rebooted, sometimes not, super annoying. Anyway, glad to put that experiment behind me (have a 2021 16" MBP, which in the past (roughly) year, has been flawless (so far).
Your experience is unfortunate and anecdotal, as is mine: Mine never malfunctioned, and i found/continue to find it very useful. I think you should've had yours diagnosed and fixed or replaced: you might've missed out on a very positive experience. Has the Touchbar fallen short of its promise? Absolutely. Did you see the patent for the hypothetical pencil that would rest below the screen and display the same info and "touchbar" choices as a TouchBar? There's still untapped potential Apple doesn't appear to be ignoring.

Missing out on the Air's vastly improved webcam, larger screen, new design, lowered weight, full-height function key row and MagSafe... But it has a fan.
M2 MBP base is 10c GPU with 67w charger at $1299. M2 MBA 10c/67w is $1319 but with new design. I’m curious to see how far 10c throttles in the Air.

I don't understand why anybody would buy this over the MacBook Air.
Not just the new MacBook Air... but I'm guessing the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips are still faster than the base M2. Plus the MackBook Pros with those chips have the newer design. So, why would anybody buy an M2 MacBook Pro over an M1 Pro or M1 Max MacBook Pro? 🤔

You get a nice M2 with fans what will not make it throttle.... and a touchbar (some people like that) so it's not that bad.

Now I agree that it should have been removed from the lineup from simplification, but it's not a bad deal.
There will not be that much difference between the M2 Pro and M2 Air so the fan is not a huge selling point. The M2 Pro is an absolute disaster and not worth it at all.
the M2 Air is better in all aspects.

I disagree. It is the worst especially in terms of value compared to the M2 Air
That was the old version not the M2 version which is the dumbest idea to buy as all Apple did was put the M2 CPU in the old design with the old specs.
People are better off buying the much better and superior M2 Air

Have you read the thread before replying or are you just replaying? I have already countered this.

Someone explain to me why we have a 13” MBP *and* a 14”? Why put a new chip in an old form factor?

You so good you had to come in and place 2-3 posts bashing a product you won't purchase because it won't suit you? Got it.

It'll sell, Apple has done their research and the numbers talk. The whole "rung" has been that way since the 14/16 were announced and it still sold.
see my other post to see why this is a bad idea and not about bashing a product some people will not buy.
Your last part of your post is flawed because that applies to the last version NOT this version.....!
People would be soft in the head to buy the 13" MacBook Pro M2 that ONLY upgrade is the CPU, all else is about two years old tech.
Once they see the better specs and pricing of the M2 Air they will buy that instead.

This will sell almost as well as the Air. If anyone has paid attention they will see Apple has kept this spot in the lineups since the aluminum 13" was just a MacBook in 2008. It's more than just about having a price competitive 13" laptop. Apple has gone out of their way to update this particular machine on a regular basis to keep it current and modern while still keeping it lower-speced. They updated this machine even when they neglected the MacBook Air for years. There is something about this particular MacBook in its current form factor that appeals to a particular Apple customer that they value. Maybe it's a large government or educational contract, but it's obvious there is some specific formula that it checks all the boxes for.

Update: It could also be that some government contracts require modifications (radiation hardening, webcam removed, or maybe built in asset tracking or other security tech) and these are just easier for Apple (or sub-contractors) to modify.

It’ll sell only to those that don’t know any better.

You can post your opinion, I am not limiting that nor will I ever. But just general bashing a product because you don't like it is undesirable. People have a like for the machine, otherwise it wouldn't sell.
1) This is not about bashing the product but about the idea behind simply sticking a new CPU in the machine and calling it all new which is a dumb idea.
2) This is not on sale yet so your last point is once again wrong.

People may very well buy this and if so that is their choice however that does not make it a good idea just as countless people buy coke and shove it up their noses but that does not make it a good idea.

  1. If you call it "dumb" you are bashing it. If you don't like the product, ignore it and move along. Why call it out?
  2. So we should ignore historical data of sales Apple themselves presented based on a similar line-up prior? Geez, let's call Apple and tell them how wrong they are.
Again, if you don't think the product is worth it, move along and vote with your wallet. Lot's of people have voted so far this Mac is worth it.
