the only thing here i'm ok with with the sharing of music :D At least the copyright holders agreed on something yes?

But i don't... use messages, only SMS..

They still don't provide the capability of avoiding toll roads by default on Maps.

There's a toggle in Maps in iOS 10 to avoid Tolls.

Been working all day, didn't see the live feed. I'm not even in a rush to see it to be honest. Smartphones sure got stale quick.

Yet you still care enough to tell a bunch of random people on a forum, dedicated to smartphones...

No hyperbole here but Apple needs to stop trying to humanize computers. No. Just no. You're embarrassing yourself, Apple. One reason why Android is a masterpiece is that it's very sterile. No gimmicks or flash. Just straight forward features. We don't need stupid Digital Touch. Just stop it. I don't need to see sketches from my friend and family. I don't need to feel my girlfriend's stupid heartbeat. I don't "emotive" text messages. I don't need my smartphone to be "fun." What I need is all-day battery life. I need widgets that tell me the current weather.

*You* don't need/want them, Apple don't do things just because of what you think.

Also did you not see widgets, including weather in the Keynote?

I'm somewhere in between. Nice Messages app, but wished they did something with Mail.

But look, this is a developers conference, and I suspect the disappointed are those who expected some hardware announcements.

From what I saw, it looked like a concerted effort by Apple to integrate things a bit more (continuity) and address alot of major outstanding concerns (watchOS).

iOS and macOS are pretty mature, so I didn't expect much in the way of overhauling or fixing something that ain't truly broken. In other words, no new home screen or filing system in iOS.

Thing is, Apple have been clearly separating out Hardware announcements from the WWDC keynote over the years, but some people have not noticed that and then just get their hopes up.

Additionally, we had a long period of times where there were big things to be done, due to the advancements in technology, but now we've plateaued a bit and some people seem to not be able to get that, which is a shame.

There's not going to be much of a leap for laptops/smartphones/tablets for a while, but the watch is in it's infancy, so will see some big leaps. The TV is in between those 2 groups.

They call iOS 10 the biggest update, seriously?

There is nothing new.

Only some cosmetic improvements and stuff nobody needs.

Its only getting worse after iOS 6.

RIP Apple.

Wow, again, just because there's nothing new you liked, did not mean there's nothing new at all, Apple caters to the masses, not the minority, there's going to be things that are improved that are of no interest to you. When you say 'Nobody needs' you mean that YOU don't need, there's a massive difference there....

I don't need more information from apps on the lock screen. If I want to see more information, I unlock the phone.

Bully for you, a lot of people want more information on the lock screen and have been very vocal about it for a long time. You're just another example of what's wrong with this forum, people acting with self entitlement, presenting their opinion that because they don't like something, it's something no-one wants.

Disappointing updates for iOS and Watch OS.

Really? I thought watchOS was a massive step forward, in regards to Apps and the experience, something that should have been watchOS 2.

Still no swype feature on the keyboard.

Swype has been on iOS since 2014, you had your head buried in the sand?

Oh god, what have they done to the messages app?!

It's bad enough that they introduced that stupid microphone/voice thing that no one uses, now it's loaded with all the same cartoony crap that was in MSN Messenger back in 2002. It looks childish and tacky. Hoping it can all be turned off.

So, you state no-one uses the microphone voice thing, where's your source for that, because you're wrong. Also, a lot of the stuff in messages relating to stickers and that, is because there's an audience for it, look at Facebook messenger, Google's new Allo, there's a demand. You can easily just not use it yourself. If anyone uses it to send to you, well just proves yourself wrong when you say it's something no-one will use....

Never thought I see the day where apple is trying to play catch up with Android and Google services . They use to be the one to emulate and now they are the emulators. Literally every new feature they mentioned I already have on my galaxy s7 edge.

Yea, damn Apple playing catchup, by copying Google's Allo & Duo with iMessage and FaceTime in 2011 & 2010.... The tech industry duplicates and tries to improve, nothing wrong with that.

Do you have a screenshot of it? I didn't hear of it on during the keynote.
[doublepost=1465859185][/doublepost]I also didn't hear on the keynote whether news is going to be supported in Canada.
[doublepost=1465859299][/doublepost]
It's called Waze. Best app to have for navigation, and it's free. You can choose to avoid toll roads in the settings.
And that does not work with Siri... yet. However if another rumor that says it is toggleable now by default then I can finally get rid of that app.

Someone else confirmed it earlier in this thread. Not got a screenshot yet as not got it installed yet.

Edit: got this screenshot. Also Markup for messages, finally!

As for Waze, it can work with Siri once the developers take advantage of Siri being opened up to them though not sure how much she's being opened up yet. Mind you, since Google bought Waze, I feel it's been neglected.

Voicemail transcription is huge for hearing-impaired (like me) and deaf users. It's one thing I've liked about having a Google Voice number to use as my public (connected to business accounts and things like that) phone number.

Did Apple bring up the voicemail transcription for iOS? That's surprising. Like you, I'm also hard of hearing myself but rely on unlimited data and text for my iPhone 6 Plus without any voice plan. But when the time comes for me to use a voice plan again in the future, then the voicemail transcription would be a godsend for people trying to reach me.

I didn't watch the keynote today due to a meeting, however.

WTF do they spend so much time and effort on style? All those man hours just to make icons more rounded, or to change the style of them. When what we need is something useful like dark mode. I'm amazed that on their sleep app they actually made it dark, because people use their phones in the dark. I'm amazed because they seem oblivious that people use their phones at night or in the dark and don't want a glaring white on off white theme blinding them.

Are consumers really that vapid where Apple thinks what sells phones is rounding off icon corners? Man if that's the case then humankind is certainly doomed.

Just invert the colours in your phone, then u can have dark mode right now!

That's the most god-awful solution I've ever used. Android is guilty of that as well. I wish they would both take a cue from Microsoft who has a very useful high contrast mode which works well, and doesn't invert graphics and such.

Great conference! Some really awesome features coming up, looking forward to them!

Keep in mind a typical consumer (basically lowest common denominator).

Nice ones there\
- mail filters
- mail suggested move folders
- faster FaceTime connect (will it work only between iOS 10 devices)

Nothing new? And yet some guy still managed to stand on the stage and talk about a bunch of new stuff.

I suppose it could be that you are mistaken, no?

Going to have to see how it runs on the iPhone 5, otherwise mine will probably stay on 9.1 where it's been flawless.

I'm thinking that iOS 10 will be the last software revision for the iPhone 5. The CPU in the 5 was incredibly powerful though, and it's aged well. iOS 9.3.2 runs flawlessly on my 5.

I can see a lot of people liking these new features in Messages ... but they just make me cringe. I'm not looking forward to people getting their hands on this. I just want simple and clean messages.

From what was shown today Messages seems to be the biggest update. Apple has some nice ideas but clearly lacks good designers and a vision. Keynote was a mess of various features stuffed together. New iOS Control Center and Music app is a mess too. Went from ugly to bad design. Poor Apple.

Keynote was predictable and boring. Most of the "new" features are copies of what other people have already been doing.

If Apple thinks this will prevent iPhone sales from continuing to fall, they need to think again. Maybe even... Think differently? ;)

I have an Android (Nexus 5) but I'm not a power user. Can anyone tell me what sort of "features" of iOS 10 were copied from Android?

I had 4 item checklist. Even half of it would make me wanna join the party but so far so good. Zero match.
  1. no customizable Control Centre
  2. no common-ground file system, not even limited one
  3. No dark mode
  4. no app drawer
  • I'm not an emoji-fan.
  • Siri isn't probably going to be properly functional soon.
  • Sadly, I can easily manage my all notifications in IOS 9
Unless there is any clever power management tricks that works, I will be a semi-happy IOS 9 customer until the first publicly stable IOS 10 update which will evidentially be the last ever update before Wwdc 17. Learned my lessons.

I have always thought that Tim Cook's Apple would have much more spatial awareness and would walk on that path elegantly compare to innovation driven, strictly restricted Steve Jobs era. I admit that I was wrong. It's just bunch of clerk executives of well publicised, dried-up startup who have no clue whatsoever.

Make a phone that delivers all of its functionality under relatively heavy load. If I go all in with 6s, I'd be out of reach after early afternoon. - Lack of Understanding the Reality...
iPad Pro? Just because of a pen, pencil and mediocre keyboard? I don't think so. Two days ago I had to edit a document while on the move. I now have 3 identical copy of same file in 3 different apps. Editing documents are such a long lasting pain and waste of time that it's worth to wait for a good old computer. Future of personal computing? Go innovate your a*s.

One more thing! What was that messaging creep show?

Perhaps it's more about thinking differently about expecting unrealistic revolutionary things all the time, especially from a fairly mature product.
