Loyal to the community

Let me say, you can count me also later to a customer of the iPhone 4.
While its true apple knows how to piss off some future buyers in some ways, this doesn't mean to bann apple as a seller.
And i let you all also know am loyal to apple, but not because apple may be or not be the best company of products, hell no.
I am loyal to apple because i found many good people and i really like to read them, to be with them, to disscuss about problems and so on. I see those people everywere, also here in macrumors, thats why i love this forum too. I love to read the people here and its nice to be informed.
While it may be that the iPhone 4 have some lacks, but this doesn't mean its not the best phone in the world. Let me say, while i know many phones with stronger power and so on, i do never saw a phone witch does the things in the right way as the iPhone does and it has done this all the time since his first start. I love to be a part of the apple community, lets say, its like my family i found inside net. That community its never like microsofts or linux one, while both i mentioned are cold, apple is more familiar and warm and also the way of support they give. At least we don't only pay for something we want, but also we do make possible, that apple advances theyr technology and they do this for us, thanks apple, thank you!

All these whiners should bring their device back to the store. Simple. You don't like the reception issue, bring it back. Yours have a yellow tint? Bring it back.

If mine ever develops this tint I'm bringing it back for a new one. Got a year to do just that.

I know we all expected a "PERFECT" launch, but this is an electronic device, for God's sake.

Oh, what was that? They should've tested this thing before putting it out? Sure. But it's also a device mass produced by a notoriously horrible Foxxcon.

In the end, I don't give a rat's patoot about the reception issue, because talking to people on the phone has always sucked; never mind talking to them in person.

iPhone 4 rules! And so did the 1G, 3G, and 3GS.

Call me a sheep if you want, but would you look at all my pretty wool.:D

Wish I woulda bought Apple stock when it was like 40 bucks.

Also, when cell phones first started selling in the US, it was a very hard sell to get customers to pay the real price of the phone up front. Carriers decided to subsidized this price by using a contract.

Even today most consumers would balk if carriers moved to a 'pay full price for the phone with no contract' model regardless if it would save the consumer money over time.

How exactly does buying the phone full price save any money? I understand that it saves contract time, however, whenever I chose to get a new phone I'm also going to have pay full price for that phone. It's not like I'm going to pay $600 every six months for a new phone so if I end up keeping it a year and a half like I do now, that's costing me more money because I'll be paying full price for the phone up front plus I'll be paying the monthly bill for the same amount of time.

Fact 4. If I put my hand over the screen of my phone, I can't see the screen, can anybody else check this for me and see if they have the same issue, this iPhone might now need to be recalled due to this obvious design flaw.

This would be relevant if mobile phones were ergonomically designed to be held with the hand over the screen (as in, old style non-screen, button type phones).

However, I think it's unacceptable to have to hold the phone in a non-intuitive, proscribed fashion just to make a call. On a phone.

To declare an interest: I'm a lefty, looking to get an iPhone 4 soon ;-)

Not bad for 3G

The bottom of the 'g' in 'ping', in the image you attached, is clipped. Oh no! Product recall needed! ;)

i lived in italy in the late 1990's and used the buy your own phone model. cheapo phones were $180 or so and a nice one was $600. i thought people were crazy to buy $400 to $600 phones at the time. especially when you had to buy a few phones for family at the same time and it would easily run $1000 to $2000

i like the contract model better. until the iphone my wife would get the free verizon phone every 18-24 months. and with the iphone the most i pay is $299.

So a phone that drops calls when you touch it is a success?

And it still out beats the Android 10 to 1. and the issue you speak of is blow outta proportion. Come on down to TX and and I can show ya where that Android belongs.

P.S. no I'm not a fanboi, I like good product. Apples, may not be perfect, but it's still the best out there IMO so if you don't like it get out and find something better to do with your life than trolling a forum.

Way faster than the retarded iPad.

Hmm, I guess you don't understand how these things work.

The iPad is the first of an entirely new product for Apple. New products historically don't do as well as established products.

For example, the first iPhone took 74 days to sell a million units. The iPad sold a million in 28 days. Whether you like the iPad or not, it's going to be a strong part of Apple's product line for many years to come.

Non subsidized purchases doesn't lock you into a contract forcing cellular companies to actually compete. Look to the US for an example of non competition since rates between carriers do not change all that much. When you are locked into a contract (non prorated) you pay the carrier lots of money guaranteed to get that discount - more than the unsubsidized cost.

FactTime is great. My 1yr old decided to take his first steps over the weekend so we used FaceTime to show his grandparents. Phone paid for itself right there.

Also I've had no issues with a yellow display nor have I had this so-called grip-of-death that people keep reporting. I'm left handed though, wonder if that makes a difference :)

i do have to wait till the end of july, till i get one, but i ask myself, if its possible to get it completly unlocked...,i would pay the full price...iPhone 4 rulez

I stood in line for an hour with no intention of buying one. Just hanging with a friend. Of course I have a 3GS. My friend's new IP4 will go to "Searching...." within a few left palm pressed seconds in certain places. No loss of bars in others. I can't wait to read about this being a software issue.

I will get a Droid Incredible Wednesday. You want botched rollout? Store promises two weeks. Then three weeks. Then they give me the exact day of shipment over the phone. Then no eMail that day, the next day, the next day. Call Verizon. Store can't tell me anything. Person at corporate tells me HTC missed shipment. Can't tell me if I will even get an eMail. Call again next day. New person says he bets it is on the truck. Bets? Later that day I do get an eMail. Regular FedEx shipping even though my receipt states two day.

I buy a ton of electronic equipment on behalf of my employer. No other suppliers fail this completely.

It literally took me thirty minutes of deliberate effort to finally replicate this antenna problem. I naturally hold the phone in my left hand, but apparently not in the correct position to easily trigger the signal-loss. When I first heard about it, I remembered the same sort of thing happening when I held my old Nokia 3300 a certain way. Point is that this is an amazing phone, despite the "design flaw" inherent in many, if not most phones.

Jobs had it right. If you lose signal, move your pinky or ring finger up or down a few millimeters. Is that really so hard? Or go buy a case. It's a good investment toward the longevity of yor device anyway.

Despite it's minor flaws (which could be resolved soon), it is an amazing bit of kit. Combined with iOS 4.0, it is a joy to use.

With all due respect, if you haven't bought one why comment on an issue you have no first hand experience with?

I did buy one and, while I can replicate the issue to a certain degree, have never seen singal drop entirely. Do I believe others may have a more severe problem? Yes. Do I think it's a total disaster as many many many trolls are trying to make out? Nope, not at all. Do I think it can be fixed with a software update? No idea, but I'm perfectly willing to give Apple time to investigate and resolve the issue. For those that don't want to wait or aren't happy for any reason just take it back, not that hard really.

Sadly it seems that far too many people these days have the attention span of a fruit fly and no patience whatsoever. The net result is when an issue like this does show up it becomes impossible to tell what's really going on through the massive amount of noise thrown up on the subject. I wish that wouldn't happen, I wish people would employ a wee bit of common sense, but I know that's never going to happen on teh interwebz. Ah well.

As for the device itself, not at all surprised they shipped that many and am pretty damn sure they could have sold a lot more if they could make 'em quick enough. It's a gorgeous bit of kit which feels a mile ahead of the competition, a screen that blows away anything else I've seen on a modern smartphone and an OS that works beautifuly well for the vast majority of people.

I agree with you and I can make the signal drop a couple of bars at my house but never a call or loading data. Then today on my way to work checked it, 5 bars and I cannot get it drop even 1 bar. Now at work one town over, 5 bars and I cannot get it to drop no matter what I do. Maybe this just has to do with a week signal but I'm sure Apple will fix it. For me, it works absolutely awesome!:apple::apple::apple:

This is a sales related issue - apple lost my sale because of the signal issues!!!

+1 ...once I played with my cousins (in my house) and dropped two calls. With his case on, though, non-issue. Almost wish i could stand using a case. Once/if they fix, I'm getting one.

In the US, I doubt it. I called ATT and asked to buy an iphone, full cost, and get a data plan to match the ipad. They said no way. I must have voice. With no cell coverage at home, that's not an option. But to use it as an ipod with gps, a camera and data everywhere (more or less) else, I would like the ipad plan.

1.7 millions to recall!

Great, now Apple has 1.7 million units to recall and take care of the antenna design flaw!
