... Yours, is the only negative comment I have read on the entire thread. ...

Really? I read a lot more negative stuff than what I wrote. I was hardly being negative at all.

... But to say what you said is basically saying the iphone isn't up to par. That's a little more than just having opposing views. ...

Now you're putting words in my mouth. I never said anything like that. I have previously said that if the iPhone were on Verizon I would get one, and I waited years hoping that would happen. Finally I gave up and chose another direction and I'm satisfied with that even given today's announcements, but that's hardly a negative comment IMO.

That's cause you're a fanboy. Some of us are just Mac fans and consumers. We want the best from Apple and when they deliver a turd like they did today, we're displeased.

And,much like a 12 year old, want to make damn sure EVERYONE knows it.

My parents live in a ranch style home with no basement. You don't think I'd love it if they did? My kids would have a place to play when we went to visit, and I'd have a dungeon to throw them into for some peace and quiet. And PS. Im sorry I don't love the new overpriced, underfunctioning turd squeezed out from between Jobs legs. Maybe if they make a phone worthy of my praise, they'll get it. The true test is if another company had released something with the same exact specs, would Apple fanboys all run out to buy it? NOPE. They'd mock it openly.

Let me spell it out for you.You are being really really obnoxious and apparently suffer from the delusion that anyone is dying to know what you think.

Total letdown. Where's my Evo?

What are you doing on this website? No matter what Apple announced you were never going to buy the iPhone. You either are incapable of buying it (and I feel sorry for you) or you are an Apple hater. Either way take your comments and put them where the sun does not shine. Your comments will not take away from the great success the iPhone 4 will be.

The rest of us are looking forward to buying this amazing technology. I am buying two, one for my wife who has a Crackberry and one for me to replace my 3G. I skipped the 3GS and the 4 is just what I want!!!

Did Steve say why no 64GB version? Damnit, I was all ready to switch phones, but my songs won't fit on a 32gb version AND still have left over space to add others.

I agree with SJ that a lot of folks who criticize do not create any thing themselves.

This iPhone 4 is amazing, even if some of the new features offered have been around for a while. When was the last time you saw someone having a video conference with their phone? Right... never. Not here in the US. I travel quite a bit for work, and I do not see any one any where having a video conference with any phone (in the US that is).

Now, I am also an engineer that create things both at the hardware and software level, and I can appreciate the engineering that has gone into creating this device. And to do this in 18 months... Well, I suppose that you have to be an artist or an engineer (or both) to really appreciate the craftsmanship that the iPhone 4 demands. I am sure that all those other engineers elsewhere (Intel, M$, Samsung, Nokia, etc) are now trying to figure how to tell their bosses that they will need years to match what is going to be available come June 24.

Finally, Apple has shown that, even if something has existed for years before, it takes both vision and courage to put them together in a device that is both (relatively) affordable and user friendly (from 2 years old -such as my son- to 90+ years old -such as my grandmother- ).

My thesis here is that much as SJ said himself, those that do not create are quick to criticize, and to do so without having used or even seen the device.

Oh well, I am about to install Safari 5...

Same Old Same Old

I have a question about micro sim.

I currently have an iPhone 3G. I am planning on pre-ordering the new iPhone 4. When the new phone arrives at my door what kind of procedure am I looking at to get it up and running? I am assuming they will ship it with a new sim and when I plug in to itunes it will set up for me?

Just curious since I know very little about sim and micro sim. Any info is appreciated, thanks. I'm looking forward to the new iPhone.

Plug it into iTunes and watch.
Hope for no crash or lockup.
Good to go.

Sim / Micro SIM upgrade?

I'm not eligible for an upgrade because I just got my 3GS in September, but, my mom likes my iPhone and I was thinking Ill just give her mine. But! Was planning to use her account (which is eligible) to do the upgrade then swap SIMs. Any suggestions given the fact that the new phone uses a Micro SIM?

Upgrade Eligible?

I think I got my 3GS in June or July of 2009... does that make me eligible? I don't totally understand the rules on the extended eligibility from AT&T... If I'm not eligible yet, when will I be? Anyone have some insight on this?

So, no Netherlands till… when, Autumn?!.

As expected at today's WWDC keynote event, Steve Jobs announced the next iPhone model, dubbed iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 features a new design relative to previous models and is identical to the model obtained by Gizmodo earlier this year, over which a search warrant was issued and criminal charges are being considered.

The new iPhone will have Apple's own A4 chip and a larger battery that will offer 40% more talk time than the previous model. It will also be capable of HSDPA/HSUPA speeds of 7.2Mbps down and 5.8Mbs up. Surprisingly, the iPhone will not see a storage bump in this generation, maxing out at 32GB like the current iPhone 3GS.

Other new additions include 802.11n Wi-Fi, a gyroscope to detect motion on 6 axes, as well as an LED flash to supplement the new 5-megapixel auto-focus lens. The updated camera will have 5x digital zoom and will record 720p HD video at 30 frames per second. Videos captured can be edited on the device using the new iMovie for iPhone.

The new iPhone 4 will also have a secondary microphone on the top for noise cancellation, as well as a front-facing camera for video calls. It will also use the smaller micro SIM, making use of the smaller SIM standard like the iPad.

Size-wise, it will be just 9.33mm thick, which is 24% thinner than the current iPhone 3GS. It will have a glass front and back with a stainless steel band that wraps around all sides. This band is used as part of the antenna system for the GSM, UMTS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth radios.

iPhone 4 will also have a Retina Display, a new display technology that packs in 326 pixels per inch, compared to the current iPhone's 163 ppi. Noting that the detection limit of the human eye is 300 ppi, Jobs described that the iPhone 4's display will "comfortably" exceed this and that text will be seen as a "fine printed book." The new iPhone's display will be the same 3.5-inch size of the current iPhone 3GS but with a resolution of 940 x 640 pixels and an 800:1 contrast ratio and the same IPS technology used in the iPad's display.

The new iPhone 4 model will go on sale on June 24 in the U.S., France, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom. In the U.S., it will cost $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model with a new 2-year contract. iPhone 4 will be available in 88 countries by the end of September.

AT&T will be offering an early upgrade special for current iPhone users in the U.S., allowing the lower upgrade pricing up to 6 months earlier than the company normally does.

The 8GB iPhone 3GS will continue to be available and will be priced at $99 in the U.S. with a new 2-year contract.

What about The Netherlands, Mr. Jobs? While the japanese proceed with killing whales, dolphins, bears, snakes and everything but mongoloids, and promote Sato, Masato and Nagashima as the best thing the world of kickboxing has ever seen, if not for the Dutch, New York would be just as redneck as your beloved Texas! Don't you dismiss this country! Idiot! (if I may).
Mr. Jobs, perhaps you should undergo a facial plastic surgery and a debilitating lobotomy to turn yourself into a dog-eateing cantonese? You, treacherous cheat!

I'll admit I didn't read all 21 pages, so this might have been answered. I have been looking everywhere, but can't get an answer.

Does anyone know when the Keynote video will be up?

reading through 21 pages would be quite the task so I hope you guys don't mind me asking this if it's already been asked and answered.

when the pre-order/reserve is up on the 15th, based on previous releases, will it go live at midnight? if so, what time zone?

thanks in advance! :D

I will be buying the Black 32GB iPhone 4

I think this is the iPhone I will keep for many years to come. I first bought the first gen iPhone (Still the coolest looking iPhone to date and I will always keep it just for nostalgia reasons) and then skipped buying the 3G (the updates didn't justify the upgrade imo), but going from an original iPhone to the 3GS was such a huge beautiful jump in technology and I think it's going to feel like that going from the 3GS to the iPhone 4. I can't wait!!:apple::cool::apple:

I need to know this too, so I can request a day off work if pre-orders start at midnight! :D:D

Isn't CDMA on it's way out? Why would a company put a lot of effort into producing a CDMA device with LTE on it's way?

Or maybe I am just a retard.

I want my voice and data at the same time.

If they're out of ideas, all they need to do is buy an Android phone to get some really good, useful ideas.

Are you going to troll around here for a long time, fandroid ?
There Are plenty of android based forums out there ...

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here, but the tech specs page only mentions assisted GPS. Does the iPhone 4 not have a dedicated GPS chip?

I don’t think much more need to be said. Anyone with a decent understanding of technology should know that this is an amazing phone. If you think otherwise, then you’re simply burning in iHate.

Can someone provide me with info on how to purchase the Iphone 4 WITHOUT going on a contract with AT&T?

How do you buy it outright and how much is it?
