disappointed :(

Apple why didn't you release 64gb ?

I have a 32gb 3gs and it has been maxed out since day 1. but not by much. My memory level has hovered within 1gb too much, and every time I get new music I try to delete some old music I haven't listened to but WHY can't we just have a 64gb. The technology IS there.

I love my iPhone, but for me this was totally an anti-climactic FAIL. I was planning on buying it but not now, at least not until we see 64gb. I could care less about the other bells and whistles.

The rest of you who are getting one though, enjoy! :) It does look pretty sweet!

We have had "facetime" since 2003 on 3G networks. There is standard for that... which allows you to place video calls between any video enabled phone on the network. So WTF is Apple FaceTime... Wifi video chat, thats so mobile...

Video calling is overrated. It's been around for 6+ years here in the UK and regardless of network quality, people just don't use it as much as the marketing types thought they would. Main reasons being; not everyone looks presentable enough to be comfortable on camera and not everyone wants the person they're calling to know where they are and what they're wearing. It's a privacy/vanity issue.

Of course if you're deaf or you want to see your kids I'll admit, it's useful.

Nice phone, getting it for the screen, photo and video recording.

Dude, where is my truck?

Very nice iPhone 4 / iOS 4 all in all, but where are the Mac refreshes? I have been waiting for ages for the next MacPro refresh or someting like a supermini (with good graphics).

iPhone 4 looks great. Can we now finally have some of that greatness in the truck division too?

So, Steve, where is my truck?

I am once again EXTREMELY underwhelmed by yet another Apple iPhone event. I REALLY REALLY wanted 64GB so of course there was not any capacity increase. Same screen size at 3.5 inches. Video chat is only over Wifi. EVERY OTHER FEATURE is what every other high end phone already has and most have had for awhile.

This is ridiculous. Apple needs to raise the bar. I'm getting tired of the iPhone.

Tony

So get another phone from another carrier that does more, can you?

Sorry but if you have a 3GS I really don't see the point in upgrading unless you were planning on buying a digital camera soon. If they had said iOS4 would only be on the new one then yeah of course it would be worth upgrading. I would have upgraded if there were a 64gb model.

The reason I got an iPhone was because I hated carrying around a phone and an iPod, well I have my iPhone but it's full. I need a 64gb or 80gb model!

Well Kenneth, this is why you're not cool.

But guys.... FARMVILLE

HA! :) I can't believe they let that guy into the keynote.

Underwhelming. We knew all of this already, except for maybe the gyro, but really? Not that exciting. Wait, one more thing.... video calls? Wow, how 1974 of you.

Great job on the new iPhone, too bad we gotta wait extra longer in Canada for it. What I was really looking forward to was Safari 5, no mention on it at all, not surprised though because that French Mac site always creates bs.

I think the AT&T "generous offer" is actually more about trying to lock people in before they lose exclusivity. Based on the offer, I'm guessing we'll see non-AT&T iPhones by the end of the year, or for the January announcement.

.

The "generous offer" woul be one if it would not exclude most current 3GS owners.

Can anyone help/suggest? Ive looked at the Keynote .. but he said 88 countries will be iPhone4 'quipped... yeah. Nice.. then it showed a few countries that are getting it ..July 2010 ... but .. no United Kingdom!!

I know we're not the most enterprising of countries and miss out on what the public wants ... but in this case I cant believe Apple wont sell us some when the others get theirs too ... so .. my question to the assembled panel here is ...

WHEN WILL BRITAIN GET THE iPHONE 4 PLEASE?

I currently have a 3GS and its on eBay ending tomorrow ... if we are going to be lumped along with Kuala Lumpur or Timbuctoo .. then I will end the auction and keep mine til the less civilised countries such as ours is dated for despatch ... BUT if we are getting it along with all the OTHER Europeans ... then ... I'll sell it and wait in frustration without me 'phone til it does ...

Help!!!!!

On the 24th - its one of the first 5 countries.

Wow, wifi only chat? Phone to phone only? iAd? Guitar Hero?! Smaller screen? This is what you have?! Hahahahaha.

better screen, better video, better video chat.

um, hahaha?

but hey, those 20fps will be a good match for your 20 IQ points.

It's not a limitation of the iPhone hardware, it's a requirement for the latest versions of iTunes. Once you switch to iOS 4 on any hardware, you'll need the latest iTunes, which will require Leopard at least.

If you're running an Intel Mac, the Snow Leopard upgrade is just $30. If you're still running PPC, you need to hunt down a Leopard update, and that may be difficult.

thanks, thats all i needed to know.

and Happy Birthday to you(whenever it is, since someone ruined mine by such a rude comment)

andd again

Ok so im a noob... will someone help me?

1. Im using the old iPhone 3G 8GB. If i want to upgrade to the new one, 16GB, how much will it cost and when can I do it? My contract expries this coming Sept.

2. What will the no-contract price be for the new 16GB? Can I do it the day it comes out? Can I buy/do that online?

thanksss

Early Upgrade

If I'm reading this right, this means that if you upgraded to the iPhone 3GS last year, you won't be able to upgrade to this one because your contract won't expire until 2011.

If I have that wrong correct me but that's what it looks like.

Upgraded to 3GS last August.
My account is saying I am now able to upgrade to any phone woth full discount.

Go figure...

Absent

Well, what don't we know? We don't know the processor speed. Did Apple underclock the iPad A4, like they underclocked the processor on the 3GS? We don't know how strong the front facing camera is - .5 or 2 mp? We don't know how much RAM - 256k or 512k? We don't know what kind of flash is included - just basic LED or the Philips Luxeon LED? And, of course, we heard nothing about the propects of MobileMe being available for free in the future. Kind of a typical half information presentation.

The "generous offer" woul be one if it would not exclude most current 3GS owners.

I got my 3GS summer of last year, I have the minimum plan (450 min, nothing else) and I got the upgrade offer it appears (there was no date of eligibility listed, just that I would have to pay the $18 upgrade fee).

nothing revolutionary here but everything got improved.

the gyrometer is as much a toy as the compass.
the screen could be amazing however i'm happy with my current screen since my eyes resolve max 150ppi anyway:eek:
i'll probably skip that update since I don't see any real new feature that I would need.

no 4G, no video calling over 3G, no standard USB port for charging and file transfer, no sim card slot and such. but we won't see most of these features ever anyway.

this may be a great update for people with a 3G or a 2G because you get speed improvements.

The average non techie or apple fan doesn't come to this website, so for them it is an ooooh and aahhhh phone.

For anybody coming to MacRumors it's like looking for your Xmas presents all over the house, finding it and then complain and be disappointed that it's exactly what you found when it' s under the tree.

Stevie Claus, sorry to say : I was disappointed you put the iphone under the tree we knew already.:-(

IMO Apple is feeling the pressure of competition and are no longer free to launch something when they are really ready or by their internal cycles.

So, in about 3 months expect further improved iphones with 64 mb or more and another conference , kind of a clean up to address all the laggards

MacPro, Mac Mini m MacAir and a brand new concept for AppleTV.
