Phone looks great but I was hoping for more too. I wanted the "we're opening iPhone up to TMOBILE" announcement from Steve that I dont think will ever happen.

I was waiting for Apple TV too i think.

ho hum....

ho hum....
for $300 bucks, I will wait till the increase capacity.
have no need for facetime, flash, taking hd video or watching video on a phone.

such a non event, change everything? I hardly think so.

Too much focus on video. Nobody's going to shoot real HD video on a shakey phone. Video calling WiFi only? Big woop. Increased screen resolution? Nice but it looked darker than the 3GS.

Multitasking is about the only thing here that's a "big" improvement.

Meanwhile I didn't see any mention of basic requests like OTA sync, added lockscreen functionality or GPS navigation.

Canada still has a fairly poor market for phones. Many users are locked in to very long contracts and may not consider upgrading their phones until the contract is due for renewal. Its also a relatively small market compared to the other 5 launch countries, I guess.

Maybe but we were in the first group for both the 3G and 3Gs. I'd really like to know what the issue is. Seems backwards to me.

The main issue is that iTunes 9.2 is likely required to connect to the new iPhone, and you likely won't be able to install iTunes 9.2 on a 10.4 machine.

I have the 3g, and i read on the specs for the 4

Mac system requirements

* Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
* Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
* iTunes 9.2 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
* iTunes Store account
* Internet access

the 10.5.8 is needed, but I only have 10.4, does anyone know that version the 3GS needs to have? and if it's over 10.4, do i really need to upgrade my OS to over the requirement for it to work, or just some of the features or what?

No 64 GB here means almost certainly no 128 GB for the iPod touch. Apple wouldn't even dare to do a 64 GB model in September. There was enough outrage when they lowered the price after a couple of months for the iPhone. I think that means the iPod classic is here to stay yet again.

i thought we already have 64GB on the 3rd gen ipod touch?

I want to know 2 things which would be a big deciding factor for me.

1. Will it be 4G capable? In the keynote is said it's capable of 7.2mbit down. Don't know exactly what that means in comparison to 4G.

2. How much memory will it be? If it has 256mb I would be disappointed.
If you don't know what 7.2mbit down means then you really don't need 4G

And yes 256.. But why should you be disappointed? you don't NEED gigabytes of memory on a phone. Plus If it is enough for the iPad, I am sure it is enough for the iPone

I never wanted to punch someone in the face more than I do the guy that invented Farmville.

and myspace

Sorry but if you have a 3GS I really don't see the point in upgrading unless you were planning on buying a digital camera soon. If they had said iOS4 would only be on the new one then yeah of course it would be worth upgrading. I would have upgraded if there were a 64gb model.

The reason I got an iPhone was because I hated carrying around a phone and an iPod, well I have my iPhone but it's full. I need a 64gb or 80gb model!

So all you can think of is storage? Nothing else?

Yes 64 Gb would be great, but theres more then that. The A4 chip, the new attena.

I'll be online next Tuesday morning to pre-order a 16 and a 32 GB model.

Does AT&T allow pre-ordering through their site as well? I just don't want to stand in ridiculous lines outside the Apple store if there are other retailers that will have the phone. Nor do I want to sit at home all day waiting for the FedEx/UPS man to hit my neighborhood.

"And, because it's so mobile as your phone, you'll be able to chat... anywhere there's WiFi."

It's so mobile that you will be able to use it anywhere that you can use a non-mobile technology! Uh-maz-ing!

LOL you must live in some real rural area, I can't go 5 feet in all of Souther California or NYC without maybe 10 wifi hot spots, lol.....a suggestion, move to an area with people, with swimmng pools and movie stars, yeehaw!

better screen, better video, better video chat.

um, hahaha?

but hey, those 20fps will be a good match for your 20 IQ points.

Better screen resolution, which amounts to being useless on a screen that small. Better video chat? Pssst, mine works over wifi *AND* 3G. My video chat can connect to most every vendor. My video chat isnt restricted to phone to phone. Keep defending the defenseless, fanboy.

Anyone else notice that when Jobs was asked about facetime and wifi.. hsi reply was he has to work with the cellphone providerS as in plural as in more than just ATT? coincidence?

Verizon!

When the iPhone could not load the NYT website and someone yelled "Try Verizon!" for a moment I thought Steve would say "You know what? You´re right! Let´s try Verizon." and select Verizon as the carrier, to a thunderous applause from the audience.

I´m pretty sure the earth would move from its orbit by 0.00001138º due to the millions of people jumping of joy at that announcement. :)

Too bad it didn´t happen!

Overall iPhone 4 = great!
Keynote = One of the most boring ones I´ve seen.

no 64 GB. :( Still, I think it's finally time for me to buy my first iphone. Up until now I've only had regular flip phones.

This was the first presentation I thought I had nothing to complain about.
Even though we knew everything going in, I was still happy.

Then that 16/32 flashed on the screen.

What is this 2007???

How can you have a device shoot hi-def video and not offer 64gigs + ???

Come on, Steve.

I'll pay for it.
You set the benchmark with the iPad. Give us 64GB (or more) for the phone.

Not sure if this was your intent or not, Steve, but all you managed to do today was reassure me that my choice of EVO over iPhone 4 was a great one. Wow, wifi only chat? Phone to phone only? iAd? Guitar Hero?! Smaller screen? This is what you have?! Hahahahaha. And still stuck on the horrendous ATT network with their moronic new pricing mechanisms and data restrictions? Good riddance, iPhone. Surpassed so easily and so fast.

Oh god, shut up. I love how so called mac users are quick to come to an apple discussion board to tell everyone how happy they are to be on a droid or EVO or whatever. For what purpose? Are you 12? Isn't there a droidrumors board somewhere?

I'm very pleased with the update, and happy the phone got smaller while the screen got better.

I'll hold off for this.

I barely use cellphones.

I don't use cell phones much either, and I love my iPod touch for Wifi internet and games, but internet anywhere is something cool. I'd love a 3G and 100 minutes a month plan for $40. Hence why I'm waiting for Verizon, where I could put it on my family's plan for much cheaper.
