Looks like we finally have a viable "on the go" replacement camera. I sold my 3GS a few months ago for 450. I am using a crappy LG flip. I want the new iPhone, but will probably see if anything happens in sept related to other carriers. Between the cost of AT&T plans and the new ETF, I really want to cut ties with AT&T. If I jump on my brothers sprint plan, it would cost me $50 a month for unlimited everything except landline calls on the EVO. This would satisfy my needs for a smartphone for a bit.

Sorry but we knew EVERYTHING already!

NO big surprise! What a letdown!

... ... ... really? You can't be serious... ... ...

The point of this site is to predict and expose the potential features of new Apple products.

"Damn you Apple! We figured out your product before it hit the market and I'm mad at you for it!"

Wow.

Phone looks great but I was hoping for more too. I wanted the "we're opening iPhone up to TMOBILE" announcement from Steve that I dont think will ever happen.
They are! In fact, you can only buy the iPhone from T-Mobile in germany.

why is the 3GS model only 8GB? i feel cheated.

My sex life is great, how's yours?

But seriously, it is only 8GB because that is cheaper and the people buying the 3GS instead of the 4 (th?) are going to be cheaper too. Can you really tell me you are one of those people (like me) who want to fill up 32GB of space and don't want the additional features of the better phone? Just be happy they still offer a 3GS for the Walmart crowd.

Maxing out at 32GB is less of a surprise than the fact that they've managed to double capacity on an annual basis-- that's well ahead of Moore's law. I'm disappointed there's now 64GB model, I'd have liked one, but can't say I'm surprised.

I think the AT&T "generous offer" is actually more about trying to lock people in before they lose exclusivity. Based on the offer, I'm guessing we'll see non-AT&T iPhones by the end of the year, or for the January announcement.

Other than that, the video chat is a nice feature, but this looks pretty evolutionary as far as hardware goes.

There's a VERY good reason for no 64GB model, and the same goes for no Verizon:

The iPhone 4! Cmon, they are out of ideas now. So the next update will be like the 3g -- a few extra features.

Mark my words, in January 2011 we'll see a 64 and 128gb iPhone 4, along with cellular video conferencing, and Verizon contracts.

Funny...

Funny hearing Jobs talk about open standards such as HTML5, then lock in with AT&T exclusivity for god knows how long.... Maybe if you focused on a CDMA iPhone instead of having spent all that time working on the Jumbo tamPad....

I am starting to get pretty annoyed with Apple. More and more, they are enclosing themselves in a strange little eco-system where Apple decides an awful lot of things.

Then they go on to talk about FARMVILLE for 5 minutes....

Guess I am just not as smart as those guys... Droid, here I come...

Ok so I have the 3GS on my family plan, but also 2 3G's....if I upgrade a 3G to the iPhone4, can i swap my sim card from my 3GS to the iPhone4 to get around the upgrade fee for being early 3GS adopter?

I'll be online next Tuesday morning to pre-order a 16 and a 32 GB model.

Does AT&T allow pre-ordering through their site as well? I just don't want to stand in ridiculous lines outside the Apple store if there are other retailers that will have the phone. Nor do I want to sit at home all day waiting for the FedEx/UPS man to hit my neighborhood.

I don't think so. But things could change. I believe pre-order is only through Apple. If you want to purchase through ATT you will most likely have to do so in store on the 24th.

everything is amazing about it besides some OS thingies like why can't apple finally come up with a better way to use the huge lockscreen for notifications or something. still i'm sold and hoping for a jailbreak so i can add those features

hoping for reasonable german t-mobile prices

Would love to have this phone, but not worth giving up my current unlimited data plan in order to get it. Will stick with my 3gs until they offer other carriers.

ATT Only = LAME

ATT Only. JB-ing not worth the hassle anymore. Android for me on the next phone... Anyone know of a good invoicing application?

You wouldn't lose your unlimited data plan if you upgrade. Current iPhone users get grandfathered in with unlimited data.

Alright Suckers, Who Called It??????

I told you and told you and told you and TOLD you there would be no video calling over 3g. WIFI ONLY. Just like I said.

I said it and said it a million times, but noooo, everyone just kept on dreaming, RDF in full effect - and now you're acting LET DOWN by this AMAZING PHONE!?!?!

Jailbreak the sucker and use Skype. Enjoy this quantum leap in mobile computing and communication.

That is all.

andd again

Ok so im a noob... will someone help me?

1. Im using the old iPhone 3G 8GB. If i want to upgrade to the new one, 16GB, how much will it cost and when can I do it? My contract expries this coming Sept.

2. What will the no-contract price be for the new 16GB? Can I do it the day it comes out? Can I buy/do that online?

thanksss

I also want to know how much to upgrade my iPhone 3G 16Gb to a iPhone 4. I don't have a contract.... no mention yet how much the non contract price will be. mine is a pay&go

i thought we already have 64GB on the 3rd gen ipod touch?

I mean a 64 GB iPhone. No 64 GB iPhone means that a 128 GB iPod touch is highly unlikely.

UK pricing hasn't been announced yet. On PAYG I believe the 16 GB iPhone 3GS was about £450. Given that the pound is weak against the dollar, I suspect we may see a slight rise to possibly £479 for a 16 GB iPhone 4.

well gizmodo got ripped off - 5k? - what were they thinking!

They got millions of hits which means big bucks from advertising.

Anyone else notice that when Jobs was asked about facetime and wifi.. hsi reply was he has to work with the cellphone providerS as in plural as in more than just ATT? coincidence?

well, plural could mean the international providers.

I got my 3GS summer of last year, I have the minimum plan (450 min, nothing else) and I got the upgrade offer it appears (there was no date of eligibility listed, just that I would have to pay the $18 upgrade fee).

See, that's what I don't get. We have the 700 minutes (or whatever the amount is) family plan and now even 1400minutes. Last bill was high for roaming. Never paid late so good customer - and wt@#* upgrade at 2/11/2011

I've been looking everywhere but have not found any info about the A4 processors speed vs the previous generation 3Gs.
Are there any?

More just a statement of fact since the iPhone is on many carriers internationally. It's only in the US that it's locked to AT&T.
