"this is one of the more mysterious events we've had"

Shouldn't it be "most" instead of more?
Both can be used. It depends on the intended meaning.
A: ‘one of the more mysterious’ means that it’s more mysterious than some of the other mysterious events.
B: ‘one of the most mysterious’ would mean that it’s up there with all of the other most mysterious events.

Why is it scheduled for 5pm instead of 10am? It's a video event, they could have scheduled it whenever they want.
Also, it was not even rumored until yesterday, when Gurman said it was happening. This is a very weird event. I think it's either gonna be underwhelming (M2 iMac, no real changes otherwise) or it will have M3 Macs and be very cool. Can't wait to see.
I believe, given the title, it’s designed to be watched on Halloween by most of the world.

THANK YOU APPLE! M3 iMAC IS COMING!

For the doubters.

1. They wouldn’t be holding an event if it was just an M2 update.
2. There isn’t any rumored iPads, this is an all-Mac event.
3. They wouldn’t use the tagline “Scary Fast” if M3 wasn’t the headliner.
4. The M3 is exactly on time for the 18 month release cycle the M-series chips have.
5. Mark Gurman has said for two years now, that the next iMac will go from M1 to M3 — totally skipping the M2.
6. It’s the iMac’s 25th anniversary.

Also, an 8PM EST Apple Event? Prerecorded or not, that’s really bizarre.
Halloween for everywhere outside of the Americas!

Max Tech says it'll just be M2 rehashed. The "scary fast" reference is to the quickness of the unveiling as opposed to the quickness of the PC.

Max Tech doesn't ever seem to have much inside info. He just guesses a lot, based on other people's rumours. Kuo and Gurman don't always have inside info either, but they seem to have a much better grasp of the supply chain or much more leaked info than Max Tech has ever had.

I literally just finished that video, and it was obvious by watching it that it was filmed a few days ago, certainly before today’s M3 confirmations.

I’m sure he’ll have a new video tomorrow with newer information (and opinions).

Who in the Apple staff will be best dressed-up for this event.

I assume Craig. Wonder if Tim dare?

Trick or treat?
I guess the treat will cost us, and what could the trick from Apple otherwise be 🎃👻

Considering they're saying "Scary Fast", I'm hoping for a good old fashioned bake off..

I don't want static benchmarks.. you're on video, SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT! Put up or shut up!

Anyway..

So, Craig has to show up in a toasted bunny suit.

Right?

Right???

I mean.. maybe they could come up with an iMac round mouse costume?

That'd be really scary..

hmmmmm...

Maybe they have figured out the way to merge two M2 Ultra chips.
So Mac Pro and also complimentary iMac refresh.
I don't know, it puzzles me that they'd do an event for one or two products, but I'm just not buying that the M3 is coming in a week.

Haha, so who will come in ridning the broom 🧹 if Craig will be the Bunny 🐰???

I hope they dare to give us some fun, and some good treats 👻😋

I’m usually awake at that time, looking forward to it - no problem.

Skeptical still as well...

I guess it really depends on what kind of production numbers they're getting, and if they've already been able to hit the numbers they want/need for the Pro/Max chips? (re: MBP rumors).

Typically, wouldn't we have seen some M3 devices getting benchmarked at the usual suspects by now? Did I miss that? Did I miss the Pro/Max variants showing up too? Wouldn't we have seen some evidence of testing/benchmarking of a multi-Ultra system?

Nothing is impossible... Apple may just be getting better at keeping secrets again...

But, I won't be shocked if it's a M2 24" iMac and M2Pro 27" iMac, along with USB-C peripherals...

If it is M3, the iMac and Air are the most likely.. Will boost sales of the most popular consumer focused Mac models going into the holidays.

The MBP rumors? I'm still thinking that those could see a silent refresh/spec page update with the rumored improved displays. I just can't see the M3 Pro/Max chips being ready yet? But, again, has Apple gotten better at keeping secrets? Or, are they just willing to have huge shipping delays until production numbers meet demand? "Order today! (Shipping estimate March 20th 2024)"

Will be happy to be wrong.

Regardless, if they're going to be pumping this "scary fast" tagline, I insist on a good old fashioned bake off. No matter what they announce. Craig appears in a toasted bunny suit for the event. Anything else, will be a disappointment, no matter what they announce..

But it is 8am in China.

Same. 8 am here in Singapore, thought I will also be busy at work. In the part, what the 1am keynote meant was that I would have all the news and updates ready for me to consume upon waking up.

Still, I would be very surprised if we saw M3 chips. I assumed we wouldn’t be seeing them till next year at least.

Anyone else want a 17" or 18" super thin M3 MacBook Air Max with OLED or MiniLED with a 20-24 hour 100Wh battery? No Pro thickness, legacy ports, excessive power or fans - just a gigantic passively cooled heatsink and 4 thunderbolt ports.

Too scary? I know, they'd never do it.

I think the "scary fast" computer, is going to be one that is sold in very small numbers. With Apple "faster than the base model" means "very expensive" and their expensive computers sell in smaller numbers.

A scary fast M3-Max iMac with 128 GB RAM and a 48-core GPU might be a $6,000 computer. Yes, that would be a scary computer.

Apple is said to be having some trouble with the early production M3. They may not want to put the M3 in a high-volume model.

While I'd like to see more events at their theater, don't forget a lot of the campus design was made before COVID. The pandemic really threw a wrench into things.
They want people to go back to work but don’t want to host live events? It just doesn’t make sense to me.
