The irony is that Apple’s original TV content is probably post-produced on Windows PCs, because there hasn’t been a decent professional Mac for filmmakers in 6 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #BringUsMacPro
They will also be viewed on Samsung and SONY TVs....

Its not ironic.... its how business works.

Anybody else notice the resemblance between the stand they used during the Sesame Street part and a taller Mac Mini? Think this could be a hint at the Mac Pro enclosure?

Maybe you missed this part of the keynote:

"Apple TV+ is ad-free, subscription based. Online and offline. Coming this fall in 100+ countries."

"Apple TV app is expanding to 100+ countries/regions."

"Apple Pay will be available in 40+ countries and regions by the end of 2019."

"Apple TV app" is, but the individual apps feeding into the "Apple TV app" aren't.

"Apple TV+" is their own content, so a few shows.

"Apple Pay" took several years to come to my country and it's only available from one bank of like 40 banks.

One fun note: Taylor Swift criticized Spotify, later it was announced that she's partnered with Apple. Steven Spielberg criticized Netflix, later it was announced that he's partnered with Apple.

I seriously doubt people (specially Netflix users) will pay a monthly subscription just to see a few shows.

They are so late, they should have bought Netflix long time ago.

Much better announcement were the credit card and Arcade

You want to honestly know what my reaction to this whole keynote was? WHY IS OPRAH WEARING THE KFC GUY'S SHIRT!

Thats it!

Oh wow, apple now has a Netflix style service. Big Deal. I thought they were supposed to get all the services under one umbrella and charge one flat fee!

That dident happen!

Apple News Plus...I havent read a legit magazine this century!

Apple Credit Card....Oh sure..like i'll ever be approved. Last thing i need is an apple credit card.

The Arcade thing...maybe..for a month and get bored with it!

The only shows i might want to watch on apple tv plus is the Spielberg show and maybe the see show! IF THEY GET DECENT REVIEWS and i'll watch them within a month and never sign up again.

No real pricing. No real deals. Nothing...absolutey nothing!

Stick to making hardware would you please!

Or idk try a little innovation again...Say what you will about samsung...at-least the galaxy fold Looks cool and practical.

This is the messiest Apple event ever. It’s all over the place. The game announcement immediately lost its impact when they said it won’t launch till the fall. Why not just announce and release it with iOS 13? ....

Because it is contract the game developers/publisher must be willing to jump into. There may be some new APIs to hook into that are being "beta tested" by the initial set of developers, but there is likely more back end financial issues here than coding.

I think also they mentioned that Apple is doing some producing (funding) here also. They probably need some time not to spook a ton developers. If decide to go "paid" but not Arcade the landscape has substantively changed. Additionally, the free folks being "out" of this service is a another relationship they need to manage between now and WWDC. I'd guess that Apple isn't looking to let 'everything' into Arcade. Some stuff probably is going to be kept out. All that boat rocking in the middle of a iOS beta testing.... that's too much. (more than likely they'd get more folks running to the courthouse or EU commission. probably will anyway but compressing the time for folks to think it through will just make it worse. )

I am looking forward to the content. I think they'll be able to produce some compelling shows and movies for one reason only - money. They can buy the best writers, directors, and actors.

That's nonsense. Same has been said about Apple Music...
Better late than never.

Or the HomePod: rather never than late.

They’re not entering a market here that was in trouble or had unattractive products. This is going to be close to impossible to succeed for them. But won’t really matter, as they’re limited to the US. That’s not where growth in this market is taking part anyway.

No they cant. The best are not for sale and won't waste their time producing content that makes Apple shareholders happy.

The 10th best... maybe.

At first I also had that idea "Apple hasn't always been the first to enter market but they have done it right." But then I thought... what exactly Netflix is doing wrong? What is HBO doing wrong? And what about upcoming Disney streaming service? These service providers have years of experience in content creation and they are already doing things right. I really don't see what Apple can bring to the table - more new content of course, but is it enough to compete with Netflix, HBO, Disney? I really doubt that.

Is their objective to compete with Netflix?

Maybe it’s to get Apple everywhere.

Should they have launched in Taiwan first?

Nah, but Europe’s a much bigger market than the US with much more potential for growth. Don’t really care as Apple has been on its way out here for quite some time. They’re already pretty much gone in most sectors (phone sales, edu market, never really been here in services to start with) so if they think can survive in the US then good for them.

Credit Card US
News+ US and two other
A bunch of US centric Tv shows

They said "It isn't us or them", but there is sure a lot of US only.

Who cares at this point - other companies are offering much better services here in Europe, so good riddance, really.

You mean everywhere in the US?

Alright. Here it is. Streaming service that you guys been waiting for that will cost you $49.99/month for 1 stream, $89.99 for 2 streams, and $199 for 4 streams. And again fanboys will say how revolutionary the service is and totally worth it because the interface looks great and works with all Apple devices. And how they are now again stuck in the ecosystem.

A lot of vapor ware announced today. "Wait 6 months but we want people to stand on stage today to tell you about this far off project or service."

The AppleTV+ stuff isn't really vaporware. There is along "supply chain" with TV and Movie content. Most of it isn't done "live on stage". It is filmed , edited , and goes through substantive post production. Keeping TV shows with work crews in the multiple dozens , that do location or rented studio shoots all secrete is never going to work. In fact most of the shows introduced on stage had leaked as far as the "theme" goes. it would only get worse after more post production folks were lopped in.

The gaming stuff is going to rock more than a few boats. Free games aren't in and Paid games that want to stay out now have a new "in between" competitor. Apple probably needs to give those folks 2-3 months to figure out how they are either going to get 'in' or position themselves on the outside.

The upcoming beta on the next iteration iOS and macOS will probably get AppleTV. That probably will allow some scaled beta testing to get done. Again keeping a broad scale testing secret would likely be a huge fail.
