Just think...guessing here $9.99/m for news, $14.99 for Arcade, $19.99/m for TV, $9.99/ for Music, and lastly, $.99 for a usable iCloud storage.
^That's why I hate subscriptions. Forget about all the other bills in life, just the above without taxes is $54.95/m. Thats a lot to ask from a general population that struggles just to cover rent.

I think if they were smart they would offer a bundle of all 4 services (news/arcade/tv/music) for like $39.99 or something. That way you're paying one price to get all these things and you feel like you're getting your money's worth. Otherwise, who wants separate subscriptions for all these things smh

All it will take is one or two shows that everyone has to watch, and people will sign up for the service. Just like the other ones....

I'm so sick of all these companies moving to subscription type services. Right now I'm paying subscriptions for:

Extra ICloud storage
ITunes Match
Apple Music
Google Backup and Sync storage
VPN
Youtube TV

Probably a few other things I can't think of. A few bucks a month for one of these services doesn't sound like much but they all add up monthly.

How do you expect to be charged for an ongoing service like TV, VPN, backup, etc? A one time $10,000 fee for lifetime access?

Yes it adds up, but if you cancel all of those you will survive, trust me.

Does anybody really care about AppleTV+? I cut the cord almost 10 years ago and not once have I ever thought "hmm, if only I had more stuff to watch". Heck, I only have Hulu and Netflix and I'm thinking about dumping Netflix since I hardly ever watch stuff on there anymore.

I do. Will be dumping DirecTV for AppleTV+ on day one.

Three services aimed at allowing Apple to make even more money from other people's work. Definitely Apple have decided to milk the cash cow dry rather than do anything new. From a consume perspective, it is, in the short term at least, good that Apple are allowed to abuse their market position like this. However, in the longer term, the quality will get poorer as the providers are starved of funds and motivation.

That has never been the problem for Apple. Many times they are first to market but also many times they are not first to market but they just do it right

I’ve had Netflix for a long time and it was garbage for a long time and I rarely watched it but Netflix turned the corner about two or three years ago I think and now Netflix is worth keeping. Just imagine when Netflix used to send DVDs in the mail. It wasn’t that long ago

At first I also had that idea "Apple hasn't always been the first to enter market but they have done it right." But then I thought... what exactly Netflix is doing wrong? What is HBO doing wrong? And what about upcoming Disney streaming service? These service providers have years of experience in content creation and they are already doing things right. I really don't see what Apple can bring to the table - more new content of course, but is it enough to compete with Netflix, HBO, Disney? I really doubt that.

How much original content do we need? I can't keep up with what's already available, between Netflix originals , Prime Video, all the great content from HBO, Showtime, AMC, CW, ETC ETC. I already don't have time to watch whats in MY LIST as it is.

One service to rule them all is never going to happen, be prepared to just pay all these content streaming providers your 1X.99 per month

You're complaining that there's too much great content? People are running out of things to complain about.

So basically this is the only service that will be available globally. All the others seem to be US-only or Canada, UK and Australia. Looks like Apple is telling their other customers to **** off. Another annoying thing is that all but one service was launched today, the others launching only in summer or fall. Why announce things when they’re not yet ready to launch? DISAPPOINTING!

The presentation reminded me of Tidal’s launch with all of the celebrities. That star power didn’t do a whole lot for them.

Sounds like a false equivalence. Apple is showing that people who produce quality entertainment are working to produce quality entertainment for Apple. In the case of Tidal, it was showing a who's who of investors into a music streaming service rather than touting the artists who would be producing music.

Seems like one of those “sign up for free trial, watch the limited amount of exclusive stuff worth seeing and then check back in 6-12 months for another month” type of services.

all the services today were pretty lame, as nothing is released outside US except gaming, which is not released until Fall.

Maybe you missed this part of the keynote:

"Apple TV+ is ad-free, subscription based. Online and offline. Coming this fall in 100+ countries."

"Apple TV app is expanding to 100+ countries/regions."

"Apple Pay will be available in 40+ countries and regions by the end of 2019."

High-end post-production facilities do not use iMac Pros. iMac Pros simply don’t have the power and modularity we need. So I’ll turn your comment on yourself: you clearly haven’t worked at real post-production facilities with rooms and rooms of Linux and Windows machines, running on NVIDIA graphics.
Yep. an iMac Pro, even an iMac or MBP is fine for an agency that does some video stuff. But for actual production house that do only video - you need modularity, redundancy, storage.

If that was your takeaway, you watched a different keynote than the rest of us.

It's not necessarily wrong though. While I'm not saying that it's about them reigniting their career...it is not that spectacular either.

I'm really the wrong target-group for this service..but I always wonder what people win from the (I think cliché) stories like these.

You get a subscription! And you get a subscription! Everyone gets a subscription!

Cool, so these shows can be seen in the US only, and those stars and directors will soon drop the format and go to Netflix and Amazon with their global reach into the market place with their services....
I was excited for this stuff, but keeping it US only is ridiculous. If it is US only, again.

And where’s the pricing then Apple... eh? What are you scared off or hiding then??

The US exclusively... Again?

Apple TV+ doesn't seem to have that. It isn't coming until later (Fall) , but they also seemed to say it was launching in a high number of countries. If Apple owns the distribution rights to the material ( since they paid to produce it) ... getting the worldwide rights from the owner of the material should not be that hard at all (it is doing a deal with itself).

The content that Apple doesn't own. Apple doesn't particularly have any advantage there over most of the other collect-and-distribute players.

Credit Card US
News+ US and two other
A bunch of US centric Tv shows

They said "It isn't us or them", but there is sure a lot of US only.

Apple's problem is that they are way too late to the game.

Netflix, Hulu, and Prime have all been around for nearly a decade.
Apple is almost always late to the game. Their innovative differentiation is...bullying, intimidating, lawsuits, and buying up or crushing competition to get what they want to be the market leader. It's the Apple Way.

Probably too early to judge right now, but that's a lot of announcements about subscriptions...
You want to play games? Pay monthly subscription!
You want to listen to music? Pay monthly subscription!
You want to watch TV shows and movies? Pay subscription!
You want to use M$ Office? Pay monthly subscription!
You want to store your photos in the cloud? Pay monthly subscription!
You want to edit photo in photoshop two time in a year? Pay monthly subscription!

Everything is subscription-based and in streaming format. You dont own nothing. The moment you stop paying, you lose all content. This is the trend. Next year, make unlimited photos with your camera for just 99cent per month.
