I can see how the Apple Watch might change things (I don't have one). Do you need to select a Wallet app on the Apple Watch before you can pay? What about multiple cards?

When it's even more convenient is when a reward program is in your Apple Wallet. At 7/11 I get my barcode ready on my watch and have them scan it. Then I double click the button and use my default card to pay for my drink. Saves me from fishing out two things. You can swipe to get to other credit cards in your Apple Wallet.

Since late last year Chase is sending them out as renewals without asking. I thought smartphone pay solutions like Apple Pay would take over and contactless in cards was dead too but apparently not. Apple Pay has no sucked dry problem, like cards do, because it requires user action to activate.

Yes, and Chase very recently ran a promotion to try and get you to use tap to pay. I got a $10 statement credit by using it only three times.

The Apple Card instruction website went live, which references the email being sent out, but it doesn't say anywhere that an actual email has been sent to some users.

The article at 9to5Mac (https://9to5mac.com/2019/08/05/apple-card-onboarding/) makes it sounds like the email hasn't gone out yet, the site going live is just in preparation for the email to go out.
I think you're right. Watching Twitter and all the usual blogs I haven't seen anyone say they've gotten an email yet.

I just noticed a glitch in my notification request. Apparently I don't read very carefully - when the notification request was first available in June (?), I provided my gmail address. Apparently you were/are supposed to provide the email address for your Apple ID, which for me is @me.com. I just sent a new request. If invitations/notifications go out based on dates, I will be among the last to get one! :D

(snip)

I have toyed with the idea of deleting most of my other cards from Apple Pay but since they don't hurt anything just sitting there, I've left them on my phone.

Edit: well, reading some responses to an earlier post I made, it sounds like I should change the way I do my Apple Pay transactions. (laughing) I'm not surprised that I've been doing it inefficiently.

I have had the same thought. On my Watch, I have only two cards. On my phone, I have quite a few, some of which don't get used much but are worth having in my phone. Example: LLBean card, which gets various benefits when used at their stores.

I'm not sure from your posts, but if you don't have Rise to Wake turned on, you should consider it. That has completely changed how I feel about FaceID, and in actual use it doesn't seem to affect battery life to any noticeable degree.

What good news was that? As someone who bought things from Apple.com with the Barclays card and will be shifting that spending to AppleCard, I'm curious if I should keep the Barclays?

Basically, a thoughtful letter and bump which was not asked for, as the purpose is they do not want to see all their business walk out the door.

So has anyone noticed yet that the wallet.apple.com webpage isn’t using SSL? I mean, what the heck. Especially for a page about a credit card.

I just got the Chase Freedom Unlimited card a couple months ago. To me it's fantastic, especially getting 3% back during the first year on all purchases (my wife also has the card and loves it).

Personally, I do not see a real benefit in having the Apple Card. But that's just me. Everyone is different.
Extended warranty protection was the real draw for me, although the other benefits are fantastic. But I can see why it would be useful to carry both.

Apple should be using SSL on every webpage, but to be fair, it really doesn’t matter for a page that has no login requirement or any type of personal information entered. Since it’s just a webpage with a video tutorial, it really doesn’t matter much.

No email invitation received here. My luck isn't that good!
Me neither, but I would have never expected it. Knowing Apple's patterns of behavior, I'm pretty sure the preview is reserved for people who Apple thinks will help promote the company's products and services. In other words, don't expect an invite unless you're Rihanna, iJustine or anyone else who's famous and followed by millions of people on social networks.

Probably because it's a page that's not meant to collect any user data, it's just informative.
