The problem with anyone taking on this so called hate speech, is that hate speech can be whatever they want.
Twitter is a prime example. Protecting leftists who call on violence against the president, while censoring and banning people who say they oppose gay marriage... they use hate speech as the excuse to stifle free speech and silence people they don’t agree with.

I don't work for Apple, I don't run the company. If Apple makes a decision to not support hate speech on THEIR platform, then they have the freedom and rights to do so. Just like the consumer has the freedom and rights to whine on MacRumors about how they feel like they're being oppressed in some way. It's quite simple really. If a company is doing something you don't support, then make it known by not supporting them.

It's a result of them growing up in largely unmoderated online communities.
For us, pre-internet, we learned that words have consequences. In the '90s, being a racist sack of **** got you ostracized from society pretty quickly. Then there's the famous "Talk ****, get hit."
(The big irony in all this crying about unfair censorship is that I can't type sh*t here, and no one seems to have a problem with that.)

Facebook defines hate speech as anything that someone finds offesive. I was banned once for a week for politely saying that there are two genders, male and female.
They claimed it was hate speech. They do this everyday, but they only seem to target conservatives...
