Who is being detained because of religion? I thought it was people from countries with unstable governments.
It's literally tech employees and people who've been working here in the US with green cards for years being detained...all because Trump was reckless with his EO. America should be the home to all of the worlds smartest people.

Trump is becoming a barrier to business and job creation. You can bet companies are going to start looking for ways to relocate now that Trump is showing he doesn't know how to govern.

I feel safe with throngs of people on the streets and random people being detained because of their religion...the very thing this country was founded based on.
Typical overreaction and being hyper sensitive to what I am saying. This is exactly why liberals lost the election.

I prefer we mind our own business for once.
It's up to the Iranian people to throw off their dictators

Oh, you mean the dictatorship we helped implement over a democratically elected one? That dictatorship???

You remember..... when that DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED president dared to think Iranian resources belong to Iran. What did we do? Oh....help people like Osama Bin Laden overthrow said government.

No ones overreacting on anything. You just don't care because you cant see how it'll affect you in the future.

Secondly, conservatives only won the election due to some electoral college math. They lost the popular vote by ~3million votes no matter how you slice it. If the census was held more often they would've lost. It's simple math. I know you conservatives don't believe in Math and Science and stuff.

Conservatives love overstating their mandate which they don't even have. No conservative in the last 20 years has even gotten as many votes as Hillary Clinton let alone Obama.

Since SCOTUS ruled the implementation was constitutional it clearly isn't unconstitutional; especially since SCOTUS looks askance at attempts to make end runs around the constitution. Even Chief Justice Roberts upheld the ACA twice, and he certainly isn't part of the liberal wing.

So do you see it as a tax, or as healthcare? Didn't see the answer to that in your reply.

My insurance premiums went to zero as a result of ACA so....
Please point out ONE thing I made up.

As for the ACA...Per our company, premiums go up 40% next year, and state it is due to the ACA. Funny thing in the letter they had to inform people it was the same thing as Obama Care.

I don't care if they won or lost the popular vote. That's not how the game is played. That's like saying a hockey team won because they had more shots on goal compared to actual goals. Who cares.

Yeah - you're right - I suppose someone with a masters degree does not believe in Math and Science and "Stuff".

Oh please! Now you're just being obtuse. There was no mandate on any Trump policy as most voters voted against Trump policies.

Just because you win doesn't mean its a license to violate the constitution. He literally created an EO which blocks people from getting to their jobs.

First the "illegals" contribute to your economy by doing crucial but menial jobs, and guess what, paying taxes.

Second, the US military budget from 2015 was $600 billion. 10x more than any other country. I'm sure you could shave a few billion off of that and still have a tip top army. Hasn't that new fighter jet cost $28 billion so far?

Third, the US gov't actually spends more per capita on health care than Canada. How is it that we have free universal health care, and you don't?

They take jobs. There is a difference.

Second, the one thing the government is actually required by the Constitution to provide is a Military.

Third, insurance is expensive because we don't work across state lines which is the stupidest thing ever. How expensive do you think Canadian insurance would be if each Province had to to have its own plan, policies and regulations?
[doublepost=1485728662][/doublepost]

Yeah, we've been pointing that out all day. Some people refuse to take time to actually read. It's insane.

This is so off-topic (this whole thread is at this point), but one thing to consider is the cost of medicines in the US. The US effectively subsidizes development of new medications which eventually get sold around the world for a fraction of what it costs US citizens to purchase and use.

The rest of the world is benefitting from the exorbitant medical costs paid by Americans for the R&D (possibly even you Canuks), without even realizing it. I can't remember any one specific instance off hand (it's been a while), but I could probably re-trace my steps and figure it out.

Third, the US gov't actually spends more per capita on health care than Canada. How is it that we have free universal health care, and you don't?

Don't know. Ask the Obama administration why they pushed the law that they did instead of universal healthcare. Hilariously, HRC criticized Obama in the 2008 primaries for not supporting universal healthcare. I don't agree with her much, but now I'm thinking that if were were going to dismantle the system we had, what she was campaigning on would have worked out better.

For many, ACA continues to prove itself to be an awful law. If you enroll, sure you can say that you're covered, but your deductible is like $6k before coverage kicks in. It's not working out all that well across the board for consumers, and it's not working out all that well across the board for the insurance companies (as we have seen, with some of the large players pulling out of the marketplace last year). There's got to be a better way than this, and I don't even care if it ends up being the Trump administration who figures it out. Just get it fixed. Now!

Tim DOES support expanding the H1B visa program. It's more important to him to get more cheap engineers than hire American ones at competitive rates.
[doublepost=1485757928][/doublepost]
I applaud President Trump's action. Not because I hate immigrants, but because I think it's important to find out who's actually coming into your country. If you let in every single person blindly, you're only putting your people at risk. And one of the primary jobs of the leader of a country, is to keep his people safe. And by signing this executive order, Trump (or at least those who are in charge of the nation's security) is given time to find out who they really are.

It's controversial, I get that. Especially since America has been the country of the free etc. etc. And it's not something I would support all the time. Not at all, in fact. But if this can help the Trump administration to come up with ideas to make America safe again (or to speak for the liberals: to keep America safe), I believe it's the best way. It's only temporary after all..

By the way, I do think green card holders should be allowed to enter the United States, because, well... it's a green card, right? Don't think he will, but Trump should definitely change the order to allow those people.

Oh, this letter to me sounds a bit whiny, to be honest. Mr. Cook should focus on his products, not politics.
And you are Dutch so who cares? You don't have to live with this.
In Europe adopting xenophobic policies is a matter of debate. But kind of a bad idea.

In the US it is hypocritical, because with the exception of Native American Indians, we are all immigrants here. Maybe 3 or 4 generations ago (in my case about 12) but all of us immigrated at some point.
The absurd part about the policy is that the countries which produce the most terrorists are not even on the list. Yet Iraq, who is ostensibly an ally, is?
Why is Saudi Arabia allowed, though the vast majority of terror funding comes from there, and all save three of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis.

It's not about practically reducing the amount of possible terrorists. It's about scapegoating Muslim countries without too much of an economic impact. Pakistan not on the list? That is really strange. Priebus himself used the San Bernardino shooting as an example of why we need this, but the country of origin for the one non-citizen involved in that act is clear?

Do you have proof of that racism or are you just putting it out there as a smokescreen?
Ok let me settle this. I didn't vote for Obama or Trump. But from day 1 of his presidency, democrats just rubber stamped everything Obama tried to enact without proper vetting (Obamacare). Remember when they said "we have to pass the bill before we can read and understand it. Same thing happening right now with Trump. No republicans have really stood up to him about his slash and burn techniques that are borderline destroying the constitution and it hasn't even been 2 weeks.

It was an email sent to employees who look to him for guidance and leadership. This action directly affects the company. Get it now?

.. And how does that have anything to do with making/ designing technical devices?

No, it's a ploy to keep a multi-national company making money.

Don't drink the kool aid..

Actually they have the authority to but are not required to' they also have the right to promote the general welfare per the Constitution.
Promote the general welfare is a far cry from provide for the general welfare.

The premise that we're not safe is ludicrous, and even if it were true, there's nothing here to keep us safe. 34,000 people a year here get killed by guns and nobody cares enough to do anything; terrorism's effect is a tiny fraction of that, statistically you're almost as likely to die from a lightning strike.

This is unconstitutional, Brain-Dead, Knee-Jerk Nonsense to placate Trump Zealots. This just inconveniences (seriously in many cases) a lot of good people needlessly. See any Saudis, or other Trump business pals on the list?

The silliest part is how badly implemented this EO was, every major port of entry into America is crowded with officials who have no idea what they're doing. Shows why DT has so many bankruptcies under his belt, these Ham-Fisted Executive Orders were written without any consideration of real-world consequences, but then, Trump doesn't live in the real-world, or care in the least, for those of us who do.

If you guys in the Netherlands want him, please make us an offer. I'm sure you have plenty of citizens with room temperature IQs, and the temperament of a petulant 4 year-Old, but please make room for one more.

I don't understand. Why is the ban only for 120/90 days? Seems like a waste of effort. Either leave it alone or do the job properly.

This is a tactic used in business to ease new ways of doing things into the norm gradually without shocking too much. It's probably a permanent thing.

There isn't a skill shortage. Apple is just choosing not to hire the Americans who are available and skilled.
There might be some of the best universities of the Planet in the USA. But just few people can enter into those facilities. Unless you come from a rich family, you have to choose one of the less good ones.

And this leads to a problem, that there are not enough well educated people in the USA. And therefore a lot of European, Indian and Chinese educated talents are imported to the USA. In Europe, even the poorest immigrants, also from the seven countries banned by mr. Trump, have access to university education and we have Somalian doctors, Sudanese Mac programmers and Iranian scientist in the society. With dual citizenship. They work for all sorts of companies and enterprises. Mr. Trump just banned these professionals from entering the Great country.

This kind of uncertainty will lead to a situation where companies start to relocate these jobs to a more stable countries. Mr. Trump is shooting himself in the foot.

Hey Tim,

Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 states: Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

Just saying.

So what have, for example, Syrian refugees done that may have led him to that conclusion?

Does he also have plans to ban cars to protect the American people from road traffic accidents?

"ObamaCare" is basically warmed over "RomneyCare". If Mitt had introduced it, the Republicans would have loved it.

If you want to see how badly Republicans handle healthcare, look at "Medicare Part D", it's an utter sham, and nothing more than a giant corporate handout, but they ramrodded that through with threats and intimidation. Some of their finest work, for their corporate overlords.

Nothing like throwing out an unsubstantiated ringer just to stir the pot.

Its entirely substantiated, based on things Trump has said and done.

If it were Obama doing this, no one would flinch. Like when he screwed the Cubans on his way out the door.

I doubt that.

And how has he screwed Cubans? All he did was revoke, essentially, automatic entry. Completely different.

A rich family doesn't mean intelligent, ethical or productive offspring, you can take the "First Family" as evidence on that.

With some notable exceptions, our better colleges seem mainly concerned with winning football teams, hence the huge number of "Communications" students.

Got read up on the article and elsewhere. Empty slogans about "being un American" to deny people entry are exactly that, empty of critical thinking. We have always done this. Every country has the right to control its borders and who enters and that's what every country does and we have always done. Obama, Bush, Trump, etc., every president has done their duty to restrict entry.

People can't LEGALLY enter the US at will, even though that's what many would like without thinking about the consequences for jobs, the economy, the culture, the environment, crime, etc., to allow millions upon millions to enter. That said, the US accepts more than anyone else in the world and Americans give more to charity than any people in the world. Proud of that.

So Trump isn't the one to just think of vetting people then?

I don't think anyone has said they would like millions upon millions of people to be able to enter the US at will. Did they?

Also, since the USA uses Fahrenheit while most of Europe uses Celsius, "room temperature IQ" in the USA means high 70s while in Europe it's 22 at most.

I'm pretty sure Putin ordered him to do it, so he could launch a few more airstrikes on innocent women and children before they can leave.

Your side lost the ELECTION and can't get over it.. dems and the RINOS will be crying for 16 long years..
Trump _won_ the election and still can't get over it.. Talking about millions of fraudulent voters that he just pulled out of his arse. Getting caught blatant lying about the number of people coming to his inauguration.
