Investing $12 Billion yearly only to develop a single iPhone/MacBook design in 4 years (and a pair of airpods in a dental floss box...)
Calling a tablet a Pro machine as it runs a phoneOS...
How on earth could you find a single guy capable to do so - and why would people even consider listen to him ?
Yes, Apple is making each quarter more profits then google, Facebook and Microsoft combined... what are they doing with that exorbitant amount of profits? New products or better services? No! Investing it in new ways to squeeze even more money out of you and paying dividends

I can't understand how a company as capitalized as Apple is can't spend the time to update their desktops and laptops on a yearly basis. I realize that iPhones are the priority, but if I recall, MacOS devices are their number 2 or 3 money makers. Even more than iPads. So why push iPads as laptop replacements when the market has shown that tablet OS devices are supplements to computers. Even Microsoft has started pushing the Surface Pro as a laptop, not as a tablet, something Apple can't do because iOS isn't a desktop OS.
Things are heading more toward software these developers are ingenious and IOS I've seen can do some pretty incredible things as long as the coding is awesome so you really can't say that.

Cook has been give people the same line about "Great products in the pipeline" and "we care deeply about (insert product)" for five years now. Tell me why we should believe him now when he hasn't delivered previously?

Nobody is asking you to believe him. I am just amused at how self-entitled so many of the comments are coming across as.

Tooo late in my case, already bought a Windows Computer with an Intel 6900k which is just as fast as the most expensive Mac Pro, which hasn't been upgraded for 4 years and sold for the same price since the day it launched. I've hopped off the Apple train entirely for good.

I'm sorry to hear but I totally understand you. This year I'll decide if I follow your rational decision. I secretly hope Tim is opening the pipeline but can't expect hell freezes over twice, can I?

He already does. He's stated he's had an "amazing pipeline" for the last 4 years. All we get is Apple Watch. Everything else is evolutionary. Nothing special, just the expected, sometimes less than expected.

That's debatable. He said he had amazing products and we got the Watch, the retina MacBook, an all new MacBook Pro, Apple Pay, a 5K iMac...

What I said was pros were getting great stuff and so they didn't mind the theatrics of secrecy followed by awesome reveal.
But the pro products never got the theatrics and awesome reveals, only the consumer products got that. That's my whole point.

Rich guy's spouse who wants to show of Apple bling at Starbucks is the new PRO user.

No? I get that it's always funny to say people can't be a pro without certain changing aspects, but it isn't actually funny. This place degrades what professional means more than Apple ever could.

Apple pay is pretty cool, I must admit.
Still not introduced here. The roll out takes ages. The roll out of transits too. One or two cities a month? Google already offers them and at the pace Apple is doing cities, google is doing countries. Google now is rolling out to other manufacturers too. I'm wondering when Apple is going out of phones and computers all together because they don't seem to be that eager to be on top.

Tim Cook can continue to dig his head in the sand about the viability of a desktop-based touch interface, but my next full-fledged computer is almost certainly going to be a Surface Studio. If Apple decides to suddenly start caring about creative pros again and releases a compelling competitor, I'll consider what they're offering. But based on the horizon as it stands, they've already lost me.

Apple a "tech" company that sells outdated, slow, expensive 4 years old products

Do any of Apple's board of directors and investor use Macs ? do they use Windows or Linux ?

Do they have relatives or young friends that use Macs? do they use Windows or Linux ?

Is it possible that with a 4 year old Mac pro NO ONE says or does anything ?

What about Phil Schiller or Jony Ive ?

What about the thousand of Apple engineers, including the ones who work on 3D, Xcode, VR etc. ?

Don't they want the maximum power and expandability in a desktop ?

I will not buy any iPad Pro because you can't replace the battery. It's built-in and you can't replace it. Not great idea. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Steve Jobs was the guy who said "No" - since he left active work, no-one's been capable of doing that and we've seen the result.

But it's already been 4 years and the decline in Pro focus has been dramatically reduced under Tim Cook and Jony Ive.

That triangle of Visionary (Jobs), Profits (Cook) and Design (Ive) is what brought Apple back to life. But with Jobs missing then all we have is Profits and Design. Sure, both categories are excelling but it's pretty clear that something is missing at Apple. So, unless Apple finds a new vision then they're quickly becoming a boutique toy company.
