The watch is here! The watch is here! Um...it's a friggin watch people. Lol. Seriously. I'm an Apple fan, but even I think these ads have an overblown sense of self importance.

Humm... No money for one of them apple watch?

Am I the only one that feels like I rather use my phone for some of this? Why would I downgrade to a 1.3 inch screen?

I get quick text messages and mail, but scrolling through news and social network seems less productive then my 4.7 inch phone.

I felt sorry for the lady dreamily enjoying her lovely coffee, only to be rudely interrupted by a "Status Update" meeting reminder. There's no escape.

Competition? You mean the odd device here and there you see on people's wrists from time to time?

As of yesterday, I think any brand recognition for the "other guys" will be pretty much zero...

Love it that Apple's ads focus on the product and not the competition.

It's almost as if they're trying to promote a product!

Hey, I laugh at all advertising. It's all manipulative. I get that. This is just particularly silly in my view. It's a watch. I think these ads are trying too hard in my opinion. When announced, this was the first Apple product I didn't want. Now that I've seen the advertising, I want it even less.

If anyone else wants it, That's completely fine by me. Enjoy it.

Not my thing. And that's cool. It just seems to me like Apple is trying to make the apple watch cooler than it is. At least in my opinion.

All three of these ads seem to take place in the morning. Maybe Apple will be releasing more ads for mid-day and evening!

Dude. I have a retina IMac. An iPad. An iPhone, And a MacBook pro. It's not a money thing for me. It's a practicality thing for me. I don't see the use for it. And something I don't see the use for, I won't spend that kind of money on, cause I won't use it. So yeah, In a way, I do think it's too expensive...for me...cause I wouldn't use it. If you see yourself using it...awesome for you! Go out. Pay $350, $550, $1000 or $10,000 on the special edition gold one for all I care. Enjoy it. It's your money. Me? I'm not spending money on something I think is silly and I won't use.

If I didn't know any better, I would see the tagline "the watch is here" and think I could stop by the Apple Store after work and buy one, only to be told, "you can only order it online and have to wait until June.

That's right, folks, buy the sizzle and not the steak.

Life in the 21st century has degenerated into needing a machine or a device that enables people to conduct basic interpersonal relationships. There's no more looking a person in the eye and saying, "I love you" (and meaning it). Today you have to run out and buy a $700 iPhone with your $100/month payments to a carrier and have it in your pocket at all times so your $500 watch can send a cartoon to someone.

Heaven forbid you should ever fall in love with an Android user. You'd be rendered an emotional eunuch.

I'm waiting for the first post/article/video of someone writing "Will" "You" "Marry" "Me" on the watch. We all know it's going to happen. Sadly.

100%
You should always go with your first impression,
I never understood the use of the iPad (FOR ME), but after few years i got sucked into the hype and bought one (after buying one for my dad, got seduced by the beauty and elegance of it), but i am not a 70 yo, i am an IT pro, and very multitasking oriented, The Ipad is simply very slow and one tasked.
Now my iPad Air is auctioned on ebay along with the Adonit Jot Touch 4, should have listed to my first instinct.

I agree-I think anyone else making watches, smart or otherwise, is in trouble.

These ads show the :apple:Watch being relevant to the lives of the major target market segments, who are the most desirable of all demographics. I think well done, Apple.

Do you really believe this? Understand quite clearly that the Apple watch ONLY works within the iOS ecosystem. So if you're not using an iPhone - you might "care" about the Apple Watch - but you'll likely never buy one. So there are other options (Pebble, Android Wear, etc).

How many people do you think are going to make their phone purchasing decision based on the watch they (might) want to get?

Also - there is a HUGE overlap in functionality between the smart watches currently available. And that overlap is going to diminish over time. Some posters (not saying you) and reviewers seem to want to believe that all of this is brand new and/or radically different.

I do think it's slick that the watch face turns on just by holding up your wrist to check the time, but I hope that works properly and doesn't result in the screen coming on at random times when you're actually not using it.

I think these ads did a good job at capturing just what the Apple what is used for.

Android Wear does the same. It's mostly effective. But it does still go "off" here and there. I don't think the technology involved could be full proof given the range of motions...

Anyone know what the song is in these commercials? Shazam and SoundHound are both clueless, making me think it's original just for the commercial. Would love to be shown otherwise though.

Oh? You've travelled "extensively" in the last week then? Lol.

I travel extensively for a living and don't see many if any hotels with NFC capable locks. I don't need an Apple watch to know that. Nor will having one with that capability help if the locks aren't being used.

You don't have to travel to know that most hotels are not equipped for this (yet).

Exactly. I stay at all kinds of hotels and a number of higher end ones too and none have had NFC.

That person traveled from US to Japan to get a watch!

Nope, been using my Gear S since last November and enjoying it quite a bit. See above regarding my comments about NFC in Hotels.

Me either - and as I mentioned, you don't even need to get up off your couch to know that. You can do a little online research to know that many hotels haven't adopted this technology yet.

Further - unless this process is 100% passive (IE - requires no user intervention to open up the lock - literally just hold the watch up) - there's only a cool factor and/or value to those who lose their hotel keys.

If I have to wake the watch up and so any fiddling with the watch, it's just as easy (for me) to swipe a card at that point.

For now - it's gimmicky/a cool perk if you happen to be at a hotel that has the functionality and have the watch. Perhaps in the future it will be big. But I also imagine that if you can do it with a watch, you will also be able to do it with a phone.
