The standard ear bud design... these aren't really a "one size fits all" approach. Mine never stay in, hence my shure ear phones as well as my LG Bluetooth headset for yard work, etc.

Would have been nice if they would have nailed these a bit more but I'm left feeling like the original Apple Bluetooth headset I owned. Beautiful design but it didn't stay in the ear and it had poor audio quality.

Lightning to 3.5mm for me.

I think price is at par with other products. So is the battery life. That plantronics edge which is I think for some 100 bucks has six hours of battery life.

The only problem I foresee is falling off the ears. And that's a big problem. Besides, these will clearly not work for workouts.

I am actually very curious about those bragi (?) earphones that they released for 150 bucks. Got to check out their reviews

I'm pretty sure they're around $300 unless a new version was released

I don't get why they continue to produce earbuds/pods that are smooth plastic. They fall out of my ears immediately. Do they not realize that most companies use rubber or nylon covers to allow them to stay seated in the ear, and to block out other sounds. Silly to spend that money on technology and kill it with this design. This is where Jony Ives is way off base on his design. Sure they look cool, but not functional
I tend to agree, my $150 Shure ear buds stay in my ears for hours regardless of what I'm doing. My EarPods not so much. The only 'consolation' I can find is that i think sometimes it's the friction/drag of the cable on the actual earpieces that causes them to fall out, so with that gone...

I'm a bit sceptical. They seem to be identical to the earpods in form, and those tend to fall out quite easily.

Ugh. I love the IDEA of these, but I haaaaaaaaate Apple's EarPods design. They HURT. I tried them a couple of times, really wanting to like them, and my ears were in such pain after about 10 minutes that I had to rip them out. When I get a new phone, I just throw them away. I've been using JVC Marshmallow earbuds -- $12 and they don't cause me pain, and they don't fall out. I've been using my current set for more than a year, but I'd love an upgrade for sound quality. When they break, I just buy a couple new sets.

I can't stand earbuds that hook around your ears. Those don't fit well, either.

Come on, Tim. Give us tiny-eared Apple fans something we can really use for music.

I definitely think Apple have finally lost the plot...

The existing iPod ear buds fall out my ears as it is - but at least I have a wire attached to them, so I can retrieve it when it falls. - These are like 5 times the price, and if one falls out and gets lost it's going to cost me a lot more money to replace it. I can sense 'Eargate' is gonna happen, some time soon...

But they take the lighting connector to charge and how much of the phone's battery do they take up.
With only the one lighting connector on a phone how do you charge them and charge the phone and ..

I think Apple is putting too much emphasis on the lighting connector.

Also if you are running MacOS on an existing MBP - how do they connect - what is the communication protocol on the MBP?

I love my BT earbuds I use now. They were $100, so I'm okay with paying more for wireless. $160 is really too much though.

Real 'courage' would have been including these with the iPhone.

I gotta say, these caught my attention more than anything else so far. I'm a little disappointed at the 5 hours of battery life, but the battery case was a great idea.

EDIT: $159!? NOPE

u 2 cheap 2 buy dud?

EarPods fit my ears exactly right, so I'm extremely happy to see these. Unfortunately that won't be the case for everyone.

I do hope you can play/pause with some sort of tap as well. Can't find anything about that on the site so far. Using earphones often means you don't want to bother people around you. Activating Siri and asking to pause the music would be annoying. And I don't want to take them out (and leave them where?) every time I need playback to pause for a minute.

5 hours is useless, I work 9 hours and need 12 hours per day...... I'd rather the 3.5mm jack, I don't need stereo speakers built into the phone, I don't even need one speaker, they're small and crap and I only ever have my phone in vibrate... I never use the built in speakers.

Probably not a good idea to be using headphones for 9 hours straight. However, if there's a lunch break in between, you could put them in the case and they'll charge up for the 2nd half of your day. Still don't think it's a good idea to use headphones for such long periods of time, but two shorter long blocks is better than 1 continuous block of time.

How do they stay in your ear someone above asked. This is the single-most important question I think. The second I saw them I immediately thought, they'll just fall out of my ears. At $159 that's not good. Though if they work as well as Apple claims, the concept, including the charging case, is great.

Looks like some people just need to complain. Apple went out of their way to make the transition as painless as possible. They give you a free pair of earbuds with each phone. They also toss in an adapter for those of us that have expensive headphones we don't want to immediately replace. Then they design a set of industry leading wireless earbuds. 5 hours of continuous music. A 15 minute for 3 hour charge time and a battery pack that holds a charge for 24 hours. What the devil are people complaining about? o_O

These remind me of Apple's original Bluetooth headset for the original iPhone - I have one lol but this looks cool.

Wonder how much they'll cost? And with dual microphones, are they noise cancelling?

My only problem with these is if they retain the shaped of the EarPods exactly. Mine have a tendency to fall out of one ear due to it's shape - it's annoying but it's okay since the other EarPod will keep them from falling out entirely, and I can just plop the failen one back in.

If it happens here I can see it not going so well...

These are $219 Canadian. I can see these falling out of peoples ears and getting trampled on. Good idea on paper but not in the real world.

Exactly everything I was hoping for.

5 hours of continuous listening is generous. The case extends that to 24hours.

The $159 price is surprising. I thought they'd be much higher. Many wireless earphones are up around $300.

They're beautiful and are built for Siri. I'm in.

This is exactly what I was thinking. People are balking at the price, but jaybirds run you like, what, $140? And they don't work well at all with Siri, you have to pair them, and they have similar battery life and sound quality. What's the big deal?

I thought this was one of the best parts of the keynote. I'm likely going to get them, I just wish they came out with the iPhone 7 :(

Agree. Other than these, it was another yawnfest.

Yep, most exciting part of the show. Yet, the shape of these buds is the same meaning they're not great for sport of any kind. However, the promise of easy device-switching and iCloud syncing (it configures them on all your devices after pairing to the first one!) along with siri optimized mic is great sounding!

It really comes down to your ear. People here really hate on the earpods, but for me personally they're the most comfortable earbuds I've ever worn hands down. I hate the silicon ones that you plunge into your ear to begin with.

Seeing as these are essentially the current EarPods with the wires cut out and some great features (15 minute charge for 3 hours usage, intelligent switching between devices AND dual to single use mode.

Only 5 hours? That won't even be enough for a flight from the east coast to the west coast.
15 minutes to get another 3 hours out of them. I'm not seeing a problem considering the crazy amount of tech they've packed into this design. I can't image the battery is even 50 mah

Jaybird Freedoms are $199 (four hour charge)
Bose Soudnsport Wireless are $149 ($50 extra charging case)
Bragi Headphone is $149 (the charging case is extra)

The price is great. I expected it to be higher, frankly.
