My guess is they aren't hitting internal battery-life targets.
That would be my guess. Either that or they discovered another thing manufacturing defect/design flaw that needs to be addressed. It's possible they'll miss the holidays.

That's what is bothering me. Why wouldn't they come right out and announce it then instead of quietly making a comment to a website? So Tim Cook waited until the eleventh hour - conveniently AFTER he had his little Q&A with the shareholders to announce that these were not coming after all...
Bravo Apple! Bravo!
Amazon also offered refurbished P5's. I've been tempted but I detest BT audio cutoffs. Even once is too much. The Emperor (Sir Jony Ive) is wearing no clothes. I have never been able to keep Apple EarPods to stay in my ear for more than 5 seconds before they "roll out" and onto the floor.
I highly recommend you make sure your $29 pair of wired Apple EarPods don't fallout (over and over) before you spend $159 on "AirPods" (essentially the same product with the same problem). Believe me.. I have bought many expensive wired ear buds that don't fit, sound bad, or are painful. It CAN happen to you.
Buy your damned AirPods at an Apple retail store on a day when they aren't too busy. Buy them with at least 90 minutes left before the store closes. Walk down to Starbucks. Try them. (Don't let them fall into your latté because they will fall out). Then walk back and return them and go home -- having satisfied your curiosity.
Actually, save yourself some time. Before checking out with your AirPods, try the incredible Bowers & Wilkins P5 wireless headphones. They are soft and fit over your ears to isolate you from the noise of the other idiots picking up and reinserting their Ive pods all day long. Try the wired P5's at the Apple store, go home with the Wireless model. You bought a $940 iPhone 7 plus right? Indulge in the $299 wireless P5.
Yeah the website still says late October with less than 12 hours until the keynote. If details on the the site doesn't change over the next few hours, it will be very interesting to hear what they say at the keynoteThat's what is bothering me. Last I checked it still said late October on Apple's AirPod page.
You're right. Your turn, let's see how you do with a multi-billion dollar business. I'm sure you will "turn it around".
I think they'all be released soon. The website still says Late October
I didn't clearly state that they should have announced it during the financial quarter conference call-just for future context that is what I meant when I said for them to announce it. To let it slip the day after sounds like intended neglect to stock holders.Yeah the website still says late October with less than 12 hours until the keynote. Tim Cook is a man that cannot deliver very poor business sense
They won't.

Enjoy this rubbish:
The same cannot be said about Dash's glitchy Bluetooth radio. Bluetooth range was also an issue during my testing. On the iPhone, music streaming from my iPhone 6s Plus cut out intermittently if I moved my head. Even moving the iPhone from my left to my right pocket could cause crackling or make the audio cut out.
Call quality was a mixed bag, and I found the microphone cutting in and out during my calls. I wasn't sure if the microphone didn't make proper contact for bone conduction to work properly, or if Dash wasn't able to isolate my voice from the wind or background noise when using Dash as a wireless headset out on the busy streets of San Francisco. On a few occasions, I noticed that if a call came through while I was listening to music, playback didn't resume automatically after the call completed.
Can't say I am surprised. All though I wonder what they could be changing. Everyone who was given the AirPods along with the review unit iPhone 7's seemed to be very impressed by them.
Microsoft didn't drop anything, their stuff still runs on the same crappy operating system. Hardware doesn't mean crap, if software is garbage.
For a device of that size, it's already pretty darn impressive. How many people are going to be wearing it for 5 hours straight?
We don't really know what the issue is. I have trekked around Google and Apple are giving nothing away so it could be a hardware issue or just supply problems. There is a lot of speculation but if its supply problems due to issues with third party manufacturers, its better to delay for a few weeks to ensure ample stock for the holiday season than roll products out in very limited quantities.
Apple has already received enough flack because of lack of available product for the phones and watches so this may be a decision influenced by what we have seen over the last few weeks.
Aren't you going to provide us a link to your exceptionally thorough objective test results proving their poor sound quality?
Based on your personal experience or just speculating?
I assume this is based on your extensive experience listening to them...
So they're delaying the airpods release but their website still states end of October??

Agreed this should be edited. Unless Apple has something to say otherwise at the KeyNote tomorrow.
Or the story is BS
Bummed. I was really looking forward to these. Tired of headphone wires getting tangled when I ride my bike.
