Still saying "Late October" on Apple's site. Nothing official from Apple either, by official I mean no press release straight from the horses mouth.

Hopefully they'll update us later at the event.

Why would you lose them? You would know when they are not in your ears. Got to be pretty foolish to lose them. Losing them should only be possible if you forget where you placed them.
This.

You can feel them when they're in your ears. You'd have to be pretty thick if you didn't realise one fell out.

My guess is they aren't hitting internal battery-life targets.
They're revising them for versions 2.0 with better battery life.

Lose them as in: fall out whilst riding.

At least they would all the time with me. Whenever I use the earpods, they fall out. The design of the airpods is the same, AFAIK.

I'm wondering if this has to do with bluetooth issues. My iPhone Plus 7 has issues with drop out while using bluetooth and doing anything (Facebook, Safari, flipping through the home screens, etc) while listening to music in the background. My car and my Bose QC35 experience this. Its almost as if there's a CPU issue with something (bluetooth driver?) that is maxing out and dropping the BT stream. The song position is not affected - it seems to move on as if nothing has happened. Was hoping 10.1 would fix this, but evidently not... Is it related to the new wireless chipset in the new phones?

I'm thinking this is the issue. The iPhone 7/7+ are having fairly significant Bluetooth pairing and connection issues at the moment for many users. iOS 10.1 was supposed to fix it, but there are plenty of posts from users on various forums that it has not. Apple doesn't want to ship a product that won't pair properly with their flagship phones resulting in a large amount of returns of Airpods that are fine, but appear not to work because of a Bluetooth driver issue with their phones. I'm betting we see a iOS update that fixes Bluetooth before they release the Airpods for sale.

Apple is delaying the release of their new AirPod headphones due to an unexpected development discovered after the iPhone 7 event this past September. They found many of the batteries in their test units were spontaneously exploding while in the users ears canal and believe this could pose a serious health risk to their customers. ;)

Wow, I'm not a fan of them, I think they're over priced and will be easy to use, but many people were looking forward to them, and with the other bad news from Apple's earnings call, this definitely came at a bad time

I doubt they'll say anything today about it, they want to present a positive image and talking about a missed deadline/opportunity is something that is counter to that

But if they fall out you would know it and technically people shouldn't listen to music when riding due to safety but that's something different

Shame they don't fit in your ours but for me it fits fine. Guess everybody's is different

Um... are you capable of posting something in the forums that isn't sarcastic, bitter, or negative? I'm sorry that a slight delay of Bluetooth earbuds affects you so profoundly, but I guarantee you'll be alright. Promise.

Some of my comments are sarcastic yes, but it's because the topic deserves that treatment. Sorry I post honestly and it gives a true reflection of Apple these days. Give me something exciting from Infinity Loop again and I'll be the first to scream praises from the highest mountain top. However, I'm not some Pollyanna lemming like you seem to favor.

Also, who is being negative and bitter here Mr. "I'm sorry that a slight delay of Bluetooth earbuds affects you so profoundly, but I guarantee you'll be alright. Promise."? Didn't you ever learn that people in glass houses souldn't throw stones?

For the record, I'm not anxiously waiting for Earpods so really could not give a flip about them. Not a fan of BT audio. But the way TC is running the company does frustrate me. People trust that when Apple announces a product it's going to be great, and when they set a launch date that they have everything set to go. When those times slip "good will" is burned. Sure, life happens and occassionally something happens to upset that release date. Every company should get a pass once in a while. But these kind of things happen quite frequently at Apple these days and under a CEO who is known for supply chain management. Burn enough of that "good will" and customers go elsewhere. Hey, remember when Sears was America's "go to" department store? Rest on your laurels long enough and you'll be sitting in s...

Its Halloween time.

Trick or treat time.

We are experiencing the trick.

The treat will come soon enough.

I was looking forward to giving these a try, I am hoping that they are in the stores by Christmas.

I think they have to say something about the Airpods if they aren't released. Otherwise it paints a negative picture about vapourware.
Remember that because Apple haven't made an announcement to date, it could just be rumors.
Every site in google is quoting the same details line for line "An Apple spokesman says.......".
But who is the spokesman and who did they say it to?
Surely the first place that they would announced a delay to is on their website and at the keynote and not to a third party website

First 4 Google results for AirPods (spoiler, all largely negative)

Some are opinion, some are hands on, but I largely agree with the negative points.

I would rather pay $299 for a better solution/design/product. I hope Apple isn't beginning to bend to the "Apple Tax"/"Too Expensive" complaints... they will lose their edge.

I tried to warn you. I told you these Airpods would not be out in October. I told you, I said that. Haven't you people been listening to me???

Stores down. While probably just for the macs, I refuse to believe their delayed until official word from Apple. I also refuse to get my hopes up that it's just a bs story.

With the exposure this story has gotten (business networks reporting all morning) Apple's silence indicates its true.

Some of the posts here are amazing. Some of you actually think Apple of all people, are just going to add some features quickly because they only just realized they could make the AirPods do other things. Of course, after years of development, they realized 2 weeks before release that they could add something like gesture controls. A company like Apple actually doing this, or any company even? I don't even know what to say.

Editing this to say that the issue is quality control. Quality control. Nothing more, nothing less. The units on average either aren't getting the structural integrity they expected or whatever, batteries aren't great, could be hundreds of things. Like when Apple delayed the white iPhone 4 because they couldn't make the white 'white' enough.
