I just want to get out of the "Prepared for Shipment" status...

my first gen iPhone is currently dead with a section of the touch screen inoperable - of course it's a 1/4 inch band across the top part of the screen, exactly where the OK buttons are. I can't put in my voicemail password and there's no way to get around that screen since it pops up immediately after I get a signal lock.

i've been working a 3 year old Nokia since last week and I miss my iPhone terribly. Just give me a tracking number even if it says I wont get delivery until Monday!

I just want a tracking number :(. Will I get my phone on Friday if it isn't even out of China yet?!

Just spoke with UPS rep. She told me mine is currently slated for delivery by 8:30 on the 18th. We'll see if that actually happens.

Don't worry. iPhone is having fun in Kentucky
First, after resting up at the Brown Hotel, iPhone is off to class at Yoga East.

Next, it has a private basketball camp with Cardinals coach Rick Pitino. You want iPhone to be able to shoot the 3 and have sharp ball rotation skills, don't you?

After lunch at Lillys, iPhone is off to the Bluegrass horse country, where it will tour Three Chimneys farm and visit elite thoroughbred champions.

After all that excitement, iPhone is going to need some down time before crawling into that UPS truck, so how about a quiet patio by the Kentucky River, sipping 18-year-old bourbon.

Really just a day in paradise.
Jealous? You should be.
As for iPhone itself ... it deserves it.

Actually it's at camp with John Calipari, I bleed Blue baby! ;)

I also called UPS. The guy told me it should be delivered by tomorrow 10:00AM IF everything goes through normally in customs clearance. I live in NJ btw.

Truthfully, with all the possibly millions of 3GS in-transit shipping around the world starting on Monday, I'd be SHOCKED  if absolutely no one received one today despite the hold put on by Apple. I mean, there's got to be at least ONE mistake made. :)

I have 3 exceptions now from Kentucky. I talked to a UPS rep last night and she gave me a standard spiel about customs and how it causes delays, etc. Which could be true.

However, when I stated that I thought the exceptions were driven by Apple to ensure the correct delivery day she concurred. She stated that Apple does a huge amount of business with UPS and would have that kind of pull with them as far as changing delivery dates.

Just have to wait a bit more.

Hopefully

I've been following here the past few days. I've gotten more nervous as I read posts of people who ordered after me and are seeing shipping information already. I ordered on 6/8 at night and only yesterday did my status change from not shipped to prepared for shipment. I ordered from apple.com. I have called Apple twice since Saturday and have been told both times that I will get my new iPhone by Friday.

I just hope they are being honest. I have no reason to think they are not being that way with me either though.

It's not life or death though, but still nerve-racking and exciting!

I just got off the phone with UPS, and I was told that I would receive my order on Friday. I live in Memphis btw. Weird, but I'll gladly receive it on Friday.

Here is mine. I dont know if it is being held in KY as well but it says 6/18/2009 as expected delivery. :D

Exactly, the customer service people have certain generic responses to any given question. They don't know exactly what is going on. There isn't some special "Apple Delay" code that pops up on their screen. Already in place systems that are used for many different scenarios are being utilized to achieve this 'delay' in delivery. All these people being told they will get their phones tomorrow by 10:30am are just dealing with customer service people who are using all the information they have available to them, but they don't have all the info. This is a special shipping situation and not the same as when individual person A ships a package to person B.

We will all get our phones Friday with maybe a few possible (but unlikely) exceptions due to mistakes.

I am in the EXACT scenario as you, just I ordered right after the keynote.

mine was scheduled for early delivery as well and i also received this message. ah well.

Mine finally shipped last night. Early this morning it had a delivery date of the 18th but that little section has disappeared since. I think its fine if we get it Friday but I think if we did get them ahead of time, it would definitely alleviate some of the server crushing that is bound to happen all day Friday as everyone tries to activate. My two little pesos.
