Same here. Mine is going to an AT&T store, and it shows as being on-time for delivery tomorrow. I'm sure they won't let me have it tomorrow, but I'm gonna swing by on my way home anyway. Maybe they'll pity me and let me have it early. :p

does anyone has a tracking number who ordered at ATT and wanted to be delivered at home?

Truthfully, with all the possibly millions of 3GS in-transit shipping around the world starting on Monday, I'd be SHOCKED  if absolutely no one received one today despite the hold put on by Apple. I mean, there's got to be at least ONE mistake made. :)

Tony

In transit in huge, secure, containers. Will not be broken up for individual distribution until Thursday, and won't be on trucks until Friday. "My bad" won't cut it if a screw up.

Mine just shipped from China yesterday, another massive shipment I'm sure...

Yes, I'm at work, using Windows

Which is fine...

what's the deal? You ordered and expected it to be delivered Friday, and it will be.

I'm fine with getting it on Friday. My Apple invoice says on or before Monday, so Friday sounds great. UPS is the culprit here, chances are that Apple had this agreement up front, UPS is the one that teased me with a June 17th delivery date.

Either way I passed the time by putting 3.0 on my iPhone 2G.

I am in the EXACT scenario as you, just I ordered right after the keynote.

Ok I think / it is possible that there already are large quantities of the iPhone 3Gs in the states ... So my guess is that ones that are already in the US are being held / prepared for shipment till probably tomorrow or later tonight ... I say this based on the fact that after talking to an Apple rep they told me it was being shipped via FedEx ... which apparently is not what was going on for everyone else...

This isn't the '80s anymore. The correct term now is Geek.

Yeah go put on your head band, your side pony tail and brightly colored clothing! ( Wow dull day ) ... But yeah I can wait for the 19th I just want that magical number that tells one where the device is!

My shipment originated from Texas and it's being delivered by UPS.

Just talked to UPS

They say that my iPhone has already been shipped and is on it's way to Utah and I should expect it before 10:30 AM tomorrow morning. Apparently they're having trouble with keeping the UPS tracking online up to date because of how many people are checking their iPhone tracking numbers. Messing with their servers and whatnot. Mine still says it's being held. No departure scan yet. The UPS guy has me convinced, though. iPhone will be here tomorrow. Woot woot.

I talked to the UPS international office and without mentioning what was being shipped, they said they are holding my package at the request of Apple for 10am delivery on friday.

This is how you really piss off a customer base. Damn you Apple for your competent OS, excellent design and coherent user interface.

Take a pill. The release date was always on the 19th. It would be horrible if some got phones early and for some reason the new software wasn't totally op and available to download. Then you'd be even more pissed. Friday is coming soon.

Talked with an international shipping rep at UPS ( 800-782-7892 ). As soon as I mentioned my package was scheduled for delivery on the 18th and now said "receiver requested a hold" she knew I was inquiring about the new iPhone. She said that it was guaranteed by 10:30 AM tomorrow morning. I guess we will see.

Look of horror

Can you imagine the look of horror on peoples faces as when they woke up clutching their iPhone order print and saw the "delayed" status? I bet some people fainted at the prospect of not getting the iPhone early as hoped.

I wonder if Apple has ever thought of setting up a help line to get people through this crisis? It could also deal with the people who queue for several hours only to find there is no stock left and the people who were shocked to find out they signed a 2 year contract and could not upgrade without paying an extra $200.

1-800-very-sad would be my suggestion. Trained proffesionals are ready to take your call.

:)

Interesting. I just called and was told by 10:30 am Friday. They said per Apple request. Wonder why some are told Thursday and others Friday?

The same reason the guy in Super Troopers said "Meow" a bunch of times to a driver. The CSRs at UPS are just screwing with people for their own amusement.

You know, I really don't understand some of the ppl being sarcastic about ppl's so called impatience. There is more to it than just that.

Would I like to have my phone before Friday? Sure, but thats not my big issue here. My gripe is the uncertainty. This is a package that is signature required. I made arrangements with my work to take Friday off to receive the phone on what I expected to be the release date. Then my tracking updated with scheduled delivery of the 18th for 2 conseq days. As a result, I had to talk to my boss and request Thursday instead of Friday. Mind you I'm not telling him Im taking time off for a phone. Some bosses are not as understanding as others. So here we are back to Friday potentially, and I get to go tell my boss its back to Friday and not Thursday.

It may seem like a small thing, but in the real world it is kind of a pita situation here. Especially considering the entire process and invoice from Apple states the phone will be delivered 'BY' the 19th.... not 'ON' the 19th. There is a difference, and it leads one to believe that it will be here without delay. Oh well, I guess I'll just take 2 days off and get it when I get it. Using PTO is still better than waiting in lines though.

Confirmed by Apple Executive Relations: iPhone will be in on June 19th!

Here's the story.

So I order my iPhone last Friday, and on Saturday I get an e-mail from Apple to complete my purchase. The e-mail, however, had a misformed URL leading people to the wrong webpage, since the comma after the URL was accidentally included in the hyperlink. So I e-mailed the Apple Store to give them a heads up. On Monday morning, I get the following e-mail from Apple Executive Relations.

I finally catch up to him today because everytime we called each other we were busy, and I say that the URL issue is moot because most have already shipped, but I bring up the shipping dates. He explains to me that UPS uses logic to calculate the dates, and that these don't scale well. He also tells me that they have a special agreement with UPS to get these delivered on time, and that we will have them by the 19th, and to ignore the tracking information. Here's a picture of my tracking data:

He then went on to say that he'd follow up on my two iPhone 3gs orders to make sure everything is working out alright. I have to say, he went the extra mile to make sure everything was alright.

You should seriously reconsider your priority list if you are taking off of work to sign for a package. You could have had the phone shipped to your place of business if you absolutely had to have it the femtosecond it was delivered. Otherwise, UPS leaves this handy-dandy little form on your front door if a signature-required delivery cannot be made. It tells you where you can come pick up your package, the hours that office is open, and when the package will be available there (i.e. after that driver finishes his route).

I admit, I have run home at lunch to get a package that I was excited about receiving, or didn't want sitting on my front porch to get stolen all afternoon, but I cannot say that I have ever taken an entire day off of work to sit at home and wait for the UPS man.

Not to mention the fact that you are basing work related decisions on speculation. Apple said that the iPhone would be released on FRIDAY. It is a well-established fact that UPS/FedEx/USPS delivery estimates are flawed. Just because a lot of people got lathered up about the possibility of beating Apple's established release date by a few hours does not mean that you should risk you employment based on that fact.

Just called UPS, my package will be here tomorrow (Thursday) before 10:30AM. Told them I asked Apple to hold it until Friday but I changed my mind so they updated it accordingly.

If anyone wants it sooner, give the international UPS number a ring. 800-782-7892 and give it a shot.

Good luck guys!

Update - Delivery (Apple.com order)

I had ordered on 6/8 and was worried because my order said prepared for shipment and that was since yesterday. I called Apple and a very helpful person clarified some things for me:

1. She was able to confirm that my order was being shipped from the US (from TN) and said it would probably ship out today.

2. She confirmed it was coming via UPS.

3. She cautioned me not to be alarmed once I saw tracking information and if it said the shipment was being held. She said this is being done to guarantee the order is delivered Friday, not before (and hopefully not after)!

So some are coming from China and others are coming from here in the great USA!!

Well first of all my priorities are my business. I will be using the time off to prep one of the phones for my wifes birthday as well.

Second, Apple will not ship the product to any address other than the billing address. Believe me, Ive tried. Same issue happened to a friend of mine as well.

And finally, I live in Tucson, AZ where the UPS hub does not offer a nice office to pick up your package. You can make an arrangement with the hub site mgr to have him hold your product for an awkward pickup at the sort facility, but its located in a VERY bad part of town here and about an hour drive one way from my location.

Just curious, which state are you in?
