A good number of insecure people who have such an aversion to the iPhone X notch. Who really sees it but You. More important, does it innovate, create a whole new direction for the iPhone, Yes. I would not care if they left the hole open, if it made the functionality innovative. iPhone's are really about function over design. Combining both just a bonus. Nice to see Apple putting more emphasis on innovation.

Let's start with iOS limitation. USB drive support, Terminal App, configurable keyboard shortcuts, File system, Monitor support with mouse pointer (like Samsungs DEX). Xcode. I don't want a Mac to develope iOS apps.

Guys, chill. Once technology catches up, I am sure that notch will disappear with all the sensors hidden under the screen. Just give it 5-10 years.

This won't stop the Notch haters on Macrumors about complaining about It. Even though it's not the most aesthetically pleasing, the technology behind it is incredible. And it has a lot of potential in the future and how it will expand from here.
Genuinely curious - what does the Notch do and what technology does it have that makes it so incredible?

Seeing what Samsung can do with a real bevel-less design, I was hoping Apple would make the iPhone X evolve similarly, so there is no bevel. As it is now, it feels or looks Fisher Price compared to Samsung's (in my opinion). I'm holding out for next version with a "Plus" size screen.

This?! You think this looks like a Fisher-Price or a VTech toy phone??!! Hmm? I see your point, actually. lol

In the future, Ive believes the iPhone X will offer capabilities it doesn't have now because software is always evolving, something he finds intriguing and fascinating.

What I think is remarkable about the iPhone X is that its functionality is so determined by software. And because of the fluid nature of software, this product is going to change and evolve. In 12 months' time, this object will be able to do things that it can't now. I think that is extraordinary. I think we will look back on it and see it as a very significant point in terms of the products we have been developing.

C'mon Jony. Rather than remove one piece of hardware every 12 months, just go ahead for iPhone X+1 and remove the volume buttons, lightning port, on/off button, speaker ports, and call it a day. Jump to the inevitable since you and Tim have decided Apple's way of giving more is by taking away and giving less (magsafe, USB ports, intuitive UI cues, headphone port, replaceable batteries, upgradeable ram/SDD, etc.)

This turns my stomach. This is why we have an unnecessarily-reimagined virtually monotone iOS with hidden/buried functions virtually devoid of intuitive UI cues. Yeah, design should be out of the way but we'll painstakingly over-design the one thing humans physically tote around more than the food in their digestive tract to look like a delicate flat glass piece of jewelry with the durability of a lightbulb.

Just like the apps & iOS he's "inspired." No substance of design anymore; just all look-alike-whiteout apps with unintuitive UI cues that often makes figuring out apps into a riddle of their own.

Why should that be a surprise when iPhone apps all share the same blank-page unfinished-uninspired-look from 10 feet? All that's missing is the word "COVER" in Arial Black up top to the left.

Am I the only one who still likes the original iOS icons and skeuomorphism?

I can only hope future iPhones evolve to have a retractable sensors.

Too complicated? Then just fill in the 'ears' black, because it makes no sense.

Perhaps one day Jony would explain or educate us on some of his decisions.

I beg to differ. It would be in San Francisco bold.

Arial Black will probably be an upgrade option in a few years' iteration of iOS.

That clunky & unnecessary bold font at the top of apps... What was he saying about implementation so as to not get in the way of the user.... This guy is so full of his BS that it'd be laughable if only the iOS wasn't so less a joy to use than 4 years ago.

If it's so incredible, should Apple add more notches to iPhone X. Which sides?

if one is naive, one might thing he has a point, with a lot of potential to make this same X a lot better really soon, only Via software.
but if one is awoken to reality, it obvious not only the software will change, but also the hardware with a better phone, so it won't be THIS X, which will be an old product withing a year.

I actually used FaceID for 3 days, hated it, and returned the X for an 8+. FaceID is slower and doesnt work on side angles (e.g. lying in bed). Maybe FaceID v2 will catch up to TouchID, but for now TouchID is king.

So are you predicting that most iPhone X users are having a similar experience to yours? I think you are actually the first person that I have heard who feels the way you do. Out of millions of phone users, there will certainly be a small number who don't like any feature.

But anyone who thinks that Apple is going to struggle to figure out how to embed a fingerprint reader under the screen for the few who don't like it versus continue to make Face ID even better is kidding themselves.

Touch ID isn't coming to any more phones anymore than a headphone jack is.

I think Ive should get a hair transplant. So he can have a notch hairstyle like the guy in the Samsung ad.
