NO!!!

I just bought a 10.5" iPad Pro, and I love Face ID. I've been thinking lately how much I wished my iPad had Face ID and no home button. Pressing that home button is so out dated. :)

Then why the “NO!!!”? It sounds from the rest of your post that you think this is what Apple should be doing.

Is it that much of a hassle to look at your phone right side up? That must be soooooo terrible for u!!!!
i'm talking about the ipad...you know, the subject of this macrumors article that we're all commenting on.

Problem for who? Sure thing, not for me. I don't unlock iPhone's on landscape, X doesn't even have landscape mode, not even sure why anyone would want to unlock it when it is on landscape or upside down. But each to their own I guess.
i'm talking about the ipad. my ipad pro sits on the keyboard cover in landscape much more than in portrait mode. if i have to take my ipad out from the keyboard cover to rotate to unlock my ipad, that's a huge problem.

Why would anyone buy an iPad anymore - so lame

Because it mounts nicely on the yoke of an airplane and displays all the approach charts as well as enroute navigation charts.

Looks like my Pro 2 12.9 inch will stay with me for at least 2 years then!

I am worried how will this affect games, some games are already having problems with multi-touch gestures that can be thankfully be disabled but the enforced swipe up gesture to replace the Home Button is another level altogether

they better fix Face ID working in landscape mode

That's EXACTLY what I was going to say.

It's bad enough for it to only work in portrait mode on a phone (I hope they will fix this in a later model) but on a tablet it would be absolutely unworkable, imagine a tablet on a stand (Apple Keyboard case) and needing to pick the whole device and case up, rotate it, unlock it, and put it back down again.

Hopefully when they solve this for the iPad, which they MUST, then can introduce the "Solved" version into next years iPhone X1

It would surely have a notch too if bezels on the top and bottom would shrink identically. They always had the same size up until now.

Here we go again......Apple has run out of innovation , so just produce a bigger version of the latest product . Apple has definelty lost there way after Steve”s passing
What would you suggest they do specifically?

It should be possible to eliminate the notch, but knowing Apple, they may want to provide a "consistent" experience across all devices.

I agree...Not sure why people on here are now 'liking' the Notch. I swear if any other company had a the Notch, they'd say it's the ugliest thing ever.
The Essential phone has a notch too, and reviewers are generally embracing that too...

I have to wait and see what affect using Face ID infrared camera has on the eyes before I adopt it. Using it daily seems like it could cause damage.

Why is lack of Touch ID a deal breaker. Face ID is just as fast for me.

On the phone for me personally very much so. I for example look over and quickly unlock my phone often to check alerts or in the case of apps without alerts other badges. Never even pick it up, Touch ID is great for this, usually even if grabbing from my pocket it is unlocked before it is even out. While driving my wife can unlock with her finger if I am driving. With Face ID its only either the face or code. And having to pick up a phone or iPad up and stare at it, well I'm not just there yet.

But honestly on the iPad it may be not be such an issue and I guess I could live with it. But, given my personal interaction with my devices Touch ID works exactly the way I had always hoped for. I would say the same for a home button. Just my personal thinking I admit.

If they get rid of the home button ..... and not add the notch, they will introduce a 3rd way to navigate an idevice..... a mess

Now that I've become accustomed to swiping on the iPhone, the home button on the iPad really throws me off abd feels archaic!

Though now imagine an iPad without a notch but faceid, a third navigation flow.

Things like removing apps or closing apps....is archaic on the X....feels like hacks :( pros/cons

No improvements in battery = NOT WORTH IT

It’s as simple as that.

I will not buy another iPad unless it can last at least 15 hours instead of the actual 10.
