Apple did it, Made a ugly laptop Thread.

All I keep thinking about is how much better it would have been if the screen bezel and the keyboard were silver. Closed it looks great (if you ignore the black hinge at the back) but when you open it you are treated to a lesson in ugliness.
I know, but it only has one FW port. You could use the express card slot for FW adapters, but that wouldn´t work for me as I need that free to off load my SxS cards.
Then I have 2 external HDs connected (FW) for instant back up.
Then the director brought along his Portable HD for his copy of the footage (FW400 of course), so the Classic MBP suits my needs better than the new one.
The only "problem" was buing old tech, when you buy something new (and expensive)
White would have been a nicer choice then. Just look at how much nicer looking the desktop keyboard is compared to these ugly new laptops.
If it were white then it would have been made of the better plastic. There is a massive difference in texture between the keys on the Black MacBook (and the new MacBooks) and the white Macbook/desktop keyboard.
I wish I could swap them over.
Just a heads up, your firewire drives SHOULD be able to daisy chain. And using it in your configuration won't be any faster because the two firewire ports are split on the same bus. It probably would've been wiser just to get two firewire 800 drives and daisy chain them.
I am not here to rehash all of the points already listed (even though I agree with alot of them), but someone said that they thought white keys on aluminum would look silly.
I disagree not only because of personal preference, but the iD (internation design) magazine game out an industrial design award to the aluminum wireless keyboard, so they obviously liked something about it. I think the new MB/P should have been all silver with a white keyboard.

Dude, no, we're talking about black aluminium. Think how sexy it'll be! Anodised black and all that.

So sexy. If I was spending in the pro range I would opt for that for sure, it makes the macbook/pro look like stale bread in comparison.
That'd make a good Hackintosh...or a notebook to install Fedora on.
I'd say it was perfect, except that ugly black stripe on the back. I don't know what possessed them to do this.

That has also made me wonder as well. You see the gorgeous aluminium, and the very nice black glass. Then you see the plastic
I love the new look of the MacBook/Pro. I especially love the screen, love how it's glass all the way. I still prefer my BlackBook though

I see what you mean, but the point to me is convenience, like when someone brings along Fw400 portable I can hook it up no problem. I haven't seen that many portable 800. The WD passport wouldn't connect with a FireWire 800 to 400 cable for example
Totally disagree, but that's why "they" invented Purple for the color freaks.

Maybe those of you that like black should try coming out into the light. You don't have to "trip" on the Dark Side forever.

Its fine that you think ts ugly. By all means apple kept the old model for people just like you. All apple did was listen to its fans with the aluminum. As for the keyboard and the glass...to me it couldn't have looked any better.
People tend to change their mind once they have a chance to play around with it at a retailer.
Hell, you might be so satisfied by the performance that you wont even give a crap about the black keyboard or the black borders around the screen. Get ready to see a lot more of this design its going to soon take over all the products.
oh and fyi this design with the black and gray started with the imac so its not something new.
I'm using my MacBook with aluminium casing and black keyboard now. It's absolutely hideous to look at.
Ugly. As long as we're voicing our opinions I figured I might as well throw mine into the mix. Maybe someone should create a poll on how pretty they think the new laptops are, with the choices gorgeous, nice, okay, unattractive, and ugly. If those were the choices I'd say they are unattractive.

Which BTW is an amateur photographer shot from a P&S, no photoshopping and without special lighting
vs. a Pro shot above
as Paris Hilton would say, "THAT'S HOT."
It was good value for money (with my student discount) and it is extremely well constructed. I don't think that the appearance of a laptop is a selling point.
