Jellycomb sells similar form factors at a fraction of the price. I found some with 2 or 3 misprinted symbols on a local market listing for 11 USD/20 SGD, scissor switches, works fantastic for Windows/Apple.

Or you could get the QC'ed ones with proper keys for like 40-50USD.

Well, that's kind of depressing. I liked the dark color for peripherals, so I bought a space gray keyboard early on. I'd like a mouse too, but the surcharge for the space gray was hard to understand, and even harder now that they are dumping the color. It does make me wonder what the red accessories could end up costing. Hmm...

Perhaps other retail firms do it, but I just have to say: Only Apple has the balls to sell discontinued items as its original over-priced full price.

No sir-ree, bub! No closeouts from Apple! No "Everything Must Go"! No "Our Loss Is Your Gain"!
I can imagine apple wanted to double price those “while stock last” products to earn even more money for those remaining stocks, “after all those are collectables yeah!” /s

If I were in the market, I would go (1) Yellow (2) Orange (3) Purple.
(1) Green - I’ve owned 4 green cars in my life (3 Honda’s and a Subaru)
(2) Blue - 1 Honda Civic
(3) Yellow - Always wanted a Barbados Yellow Honda Prelude

I’m not in the market either as I own a well spec’d 2019 27” iMac that I am going to hold onto for quite a while. Did end up with a Space Grey M1 MacBook Pro, so I think I’ve filled my quota for silver and grey for a while. The detractors on here are just perplexing as life without color is just plain boring.

Hopefully they introduce an actual black.
getting rid of this color makes no sense. It’s the best color

It's fine for me. Zero issues. It needs to be charged once a month. I leave it overnight when it is getting low on battery.

I just don't get the hostility to this. How many of you have a dead mouse that you absolutely have to use while plugged in because you couldn't be an adult and charge your ****?
It does happen - the low battery warnings aren't always very obvious, and it can be hard to use the machine without a mouse. I keep a spare old mouse for this situation. If the charge port was on the end, I could just keep using the original one (as with the keyboard). Seems like a bad (and unnecessary) piece of design.

Ugg, that probably means no space grey pro desktops with black bezels in the future? I prefer space grey over silver. I don't want a party decoration as my work machine....
Not necessarily. It’s likely that the iMac Pro’s eventual replacement will have a Touch ID keyboard (like the 21.5”), possibly in space grey.

I’ve had numerous space gray items from numerous manufacturers.

none of them are the same shade. The third party ones are more different but even apples own products vary slightly.
Right. They make the accessories match the products they accompany. So the space grey keyboard matched the iMac Pro. If the new high-end iMac comes in space grey they will want it to match. Just how all the nee color keyboards match the M1 iMac.

Rumors point to there being a new space grey color. Possibly black too. Who knows.
Source? I frequent this site and have not seen such rumours.

A point has been made that for some years Space Gray has been used to denote Pro models in a line. Problem with that notion is the mainstream iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air and MacBook Air are available in Space Gray and they are definitely not Pro models.

I’m sure this has to do with the new touch ID keyboards that will be showing up soon or whatever keyboard will come with the 27 inch iMac replacement.
Totally agree. Of course these will be discontinued, as you have pointed out; with the new iMacs coming out with Touch ID, of course the higher spec’d versions will too.
Shame the ‘current’ generation of ‘i want, and I want it now’ posters can’t see that.

I don't want to say anything against the magic mouse that would be too catty of me 🍸🙀but I hope we get a whole new re-thinking of the hand held input device. 🍸😸
For sure, because Apple has really lost its way since discontinuing the glorious hockey-puck mice.

Anxiously awaiting shower-curtain-rainbow-vomit rebooted accessories w/ Bondi Puce braided cables.

I believe there will be all-new keyboards, mouse pointers and even touch pads for the successor to the iMac Pro. They will be in a lighter shade of Space Gray than currently, since the new iMac Pro will also be using that lighter Space Gray color. The new "cube" Mac Pro box may also come in this color, too.

New Mac Pro should be black. Becuz, Back to the Future! *shaking fist at sky*

THIS TIME the cube will be unstoppable!

Pardon me, I need to adjust my medication.

I will take this as a confirmation of the new 27" iMacs being launched with Touch Id keyboards 😄
