Blows my mind why Mac users use anything other than safari. It's way more integrated and looks 10x better. There's so many little things in chrome that puts me off like bookmarks and not being able to press command z to open the last closed tab.

I would totally use Safari if it offered pinned tabs like Chrome.

Also don't like that Safari doesn't show favicons in tabs. Makes it harder to distinguish tabs at a glance, because you have to read the title text instead of just seeing the color or shape of the favicon.

Hm, I have nothing against Safari, but does anybody else find it a little intrusive that the operating system is now advertising for a piece of software? What's next, iAds jumping up and down in the Dock?

Can you control+enter or some equivalent finally in Safari to append .com or another tld? If not, not that interested. I don't want it to "try and find" the right site if I enter just the domain in the address bar and then end up going to a search page with what it thought I was looking for.

...and this is why I still am using Mavericks.

Looks like Apple doesn't even give you a "never remind me again" option.

Thus, it looks like it bugs you..

Who wants that ? No, Apple I want to use Firefox, I installed it just to stare at the icon for no reason...

Yes, its intrusive... If i want to use a browser, i will :) I don't need reminded of anything,,, I'd Google it otherwise if i needed assistance.

My two favorite browsers are Chrome & Firefox. Never been a Safari user.

Command-Shift-T opens the last closed tab in Chrome.

I so badly would love to switch to Safari full time. I have found my battery life on my Macbook Pro is literally double with Safari over Chrome. However, I use a Windows and a Linux system as part of my job, and Safari doesn't sync bookmarks with them. Chrome works on all platforms, and I have my bookmarks, my passwords, etc. all there. So until I can stop having to use Windows/Linux, I'm unfortunately stuck on Chrome (unless someone has some creative way for me to link them).

Sadly safari has stopped refreshing the icons for my "top pages" view, and the former cmd+R changes nothing.. Any ideas about that?

I love the new Safari with the iOS like appearance/effects. It's very lightweight, responsive and elegant.

Occasionally use Chrome because a PDF will have a font I don't have installed (probably a Windows one) and Chrome renders the PDF with the right font because it has its own renderer. Not really an issue if folk know how to make a PDF properly but handy to have a couple of browsers installed.

I hardly ever use Chrome on my MBP anymore

I first started using Safari because I like to work untethered and Safari sips juice like a BMW i8 while Chrome guzzles it like a M1-Abrams.

With Yosemite, it is definitely faster too. Also HTML5 works well (when supported). I watched an entire episode of Lost Girl (Don't judge me) on about 5% battery drain which would have taken a 15-20% chunk on another browser.

Bring it back to Windows.

The biggest problem of Safari: it's not cross-platform.

I really wish they'd bring Safari back to windows. I have to use Win7 at work. It'd be really nice to have Safari on my work computer so that my form entry data and Keychain would all be synced up.

Think they'll every make a Win version of Safari again?

Don't see a single reason to not use safari under OSX

The one thing that really makes Firefox still my go to for any system is Adblock Edge...an old forked version of Adblock plus that actually blocks pretty much all ads & pop-ups. It's only available on Firefox & the other versions of Adblock for every browser just don't work well enough.

No matter how good Safari is, for those of us that need to use Windows machines at work, Chrome is the only good choice if you need to access common bookmarks and open pages from both machines...

As many times as Google has asked me to download Chrome, I guess this was only a matter of time. I've been using Firefox for years, but I'll have to give Safari another trip around the block now that Yosemite is out...

I really really want to use Safari and it has been vastly improved, but I just can't:

1) At work we use Windows and don't get admin rights, so I have a portable installation of Chrome at work that automatically syncs with my Chrome bookmarks and settings at home.

2) There is still no real extension support for Safari. I need my properly working AdBlock, Clearly and Video downloaders.

Java Energy Efficient

I am curious about the energy efficient Java.

Is there a way I can tap into this when running minecraft?

Currently minecraft really burns up the CPU, requiring me to keep an ice pack under the machine.

It's not just fast but the interface is incredible. I can't stand chrome's windows 3.1 looks and energy hogging ways. They did an awesome job on Safari. Duckduckgo built in! This thing rocks.

I've always struggled to see the reason for third-party browsers. Choice is good, but I don't know anything of note that Chrome/Firefox have that Safari doesn't.

If only apple would allow for a user to allow Safari to open in private browsing permanently, the same way FireFox does, I would be using it now. It is a royal PIA to have to tell Safari to open in Private mode all the time!

This, but with one change. Give me a whitelist of websites to open in "normal cookies" (i.e. no 3rd party cookies) mode, and open everything else in private mode.

I just ditched chrome after spending the beta with Safari. It's much faster and useful.
