Why doesnt Macrumors report on IDC report that Apple is now for the first time #1 market share in China? Seems to me that it might be slightly more important than some sketchy news release about production cuts that we get every single year. I don’t get it?

yea I dont believe the price increase, I mean I have said this before, Samsung Galaxy Tab 9 are all OLED and prices are not insane
That's because Apple is not gonna use what Samsung made. That OLED is not even close to what Apple is going to use which is way more expensive.

Samsung’s tablet has OLED and only $800. Sure, iPad has superior OS (essentially by default) and better design, but it is NOT $700 better.

Tim Cook has exploited Apple fandom and loyalty for 10+ years, but it is waning at last and Microsoft, under Nadella, is far more innovative.
Superior OS is in the eye of the beholder. :)
For desktop-like productivity workflows, the Galaxy Tab line is far better suited than iPads. When it comes to content consumption, they're equal. But on content creation, the iPad has the clear advantage.

Come on good people. The price increase is justified 10x over. Have you not been paying attention to Apple’s trend of including Special Polishing Cloths (Exclusive Branding) with new devices recently?

I really just wanted the 13 OLED for HDR media consumption, but at nearly $2K, I might wait for the OLED MacBooks or just buy a proper big-screen TV.

Imagine that… In an economy where everything is 30% more than it was 3 years ago, people aren't willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money for something that basically amounts to a toy. No serious work is done on iPads.
No serious work is done either on stereos, huge screen TVs, or - for the most part - sports cars or trucks.
People buy them anyway.

Some reports have suggested that OLED display technology will make the ‌‌iPad Pro‌‌ models much more expensive. The 11-inch OLED ‌‌iPad Pro‌‌ could be priced starting at $1,500, while the 13-inch model could be priced starting at $1,800. Currently, the 11-inch ‌‌iPad Pro‌‌ is priced starting at $799, while the 12.9-inch model with a mini-LED display is priced starting at $1,099. This could be one reason behind Apple's expectation of lower sales.

This paragraph sums it all up nicely. With MBA starting at 999$, Apple must be dreaming if they think people will be queuing for these iPads, especially the 12.9” iPad Pro lot, who got sold on a “revolutionary” blooming mini-LED model before.

Seems people want the laptop experience in the iPad format probably because they’re cheapskates and won’t pony over the dough for the real thing. If you find iPadOS limiting get a Mac.

Apple has reportedly cut components orders for its upcoming OLED iPad Pro models, suggesting that the company is now anticipating lower demand than previously expected.

According to a report from Aju Korea Daily, cited by Trendforce, Apple has reduced orders of the OLED display panels designed for the next-generation iPad Pro by 20 to 30%. Apple's original order of ten million panels was split between LG Display, with six million units, and Samsung, with four million units. The cut is expected to hit LG's order specifically, reducing to three or four million units, while Samsung's order remains unchanged. This also suggests that it is primarily the 13-inch iPad Pro that is affected by Apple's expectation of reduced sales, since Samsung is exclusively supplying panels for the 11.1-inch model.

The scaling back of the order suggests that Apple is now planning to sell fewer new iPad Pro models than it initially expected. The latest indications suggest that the new iPad Pro models will launch in March or April, offering larger screens, the M3 chip, MagSafe charging, and support for a redesigned Magic Keyboard accessory.

The new Apple mantra, ‘Quality Customers, Not Quanity’. Apple has always been a premium product company. They now seem to be making the decision to sell more to the premium customer. I just hope the new Air’s features can fill the void left by what will be out of reach Pros.

And you can even get a very capable MBA for $749 brand new at many retailers. It's amazing the value that device has, even in 2024.

I use my M2 iPad Pro as my main computing device (yes, I don’t have a laptop) and was obviously considering an upgrade to the M3 version. If these price hikes are true, I’m gonna stick to the current model for a bit.
What would you need an M3 version for anyway if you have an M2? It baffles me how Apple fans upgrade their device to the very next model like its necessary.

I really was planning to upgrade from my 11 inch M2 solely for the oled screen, but if it’s priced over 1K that is where I draw the line. For what I use the iPad for I can live without oled. I would rather put than money towards a new oled tv.

It means the 13 inch iPad Pro is going to be super expensive.

OLED is cool but is it really going to be worth 1,500 or 1,800?

An iPad was never intended to replace a MacBook. But for many, many people an iPad is more suitable for their needs than a MacBook.

I am one of those people, splitting my computing tasks between my iPhone (about 60%) and iPad Air 5 (about 40%). Even then, I would find it obscene to pay over 1000 (insert your units) for it. It is essentially an iPhone with a bigger screen, better multitasking and pencil support (if you need it).

Not surprised with a 12.9 inch Air rumoured to have an M2 and probably a very decent display. Let's see what the base config of a iPad Pro will be. It may be corresponding higher end: a base Mac Pro that starts out with an ultra, 64 Gb Ram and 1 TB disc which is far from say a base MBP. An 13 inch iPad Pro with M3, 16-24 Gb RAM and 0.5-1 Tb disk is perfectly OK for $1800.

Always confounded by people that can replace their iPad with a Mac. Two different computers with different strengths and weaknesses.

The new Apple mantra, ‘Quality Customers, Not Quanity’. Apple has always been a premium product company. They now seem to be making the decision to sell more to the premium customer. I just hope the new Air’s features can fill the void left by what will be out of reach Pros.

And this is exactly why Microsoft have just overtaken Apple as the most valuable company.

Apple are testing the waters to see if their customers will bite. I am not biting, personally.
