Everyone else has to follow the rules. Why should they get preferential treatment?
Don't think they're asking for preferential treatment. I'm sure Epic would be fine if all software developers were able to develop software for end users without having to appease the gatekeeper.

Would love to see Apple get out of the way on this so consumers can enjoy the power of choice. You invented the new millennium version of an omni-television device; it doesn’t mean you get to control the programming forever.

Maybe gaming could thrive better on Apple products if they’d invest in AAA or work with developers without demanding a cut of almost everything

Consumers have a choice, it's called buying an Android phone.

And developers on iOS make way more money than on Android. So Apple has no problem attracting developers considering all the money is on this platform.

Which App store is Epic banned from? The real App store or the EU App store? o_O Or both? :D

Both. It's a very dangerous move for Apple since it basically constitutes exactly the kind of "gatekeeping" the DMA provisions are meant to prevent.

The only way Apple can justify this is with the clause that allows the Gatekeeper to protect the security of the platform, but the measures enacted needs to be "strictly necessary and proportionate" and I highly doubt the regulators would buy that argument.

I can see another huge deserved fine coming Apples way soon. Apple are getting very bullish lately due to government not likening their control of the market, and ergo profit flow.
Almost at the point of getting my tiny violin out for them. I hope Epic creates its own app store and highlights the EU rules of Apple objects.

You're spitting facts, but a lot of people need to let go of their devotion to a BRAND. Not a country, family, ethnicity or anything like that..... but a BRAND. LMAO!!!!!!
It has nothing to do with loyalty to a brand. Epic knowingly broke Apple's rules for the App Store and are now seen as (rightfully so) untrustworthy.

Would you trust me if I was your employee, intentially broke your rules and then came to you later asking for my job back after you fired me?

epic should pay apple to sell their stuff in apple maintained systems. Those systems are not free to build or maintain and everybody that uses them have to pay. i dont know why theres even a discussion about this fact
If you
Clearly if you participate in access to Apple's tools/services afforded to developers you would have a business relationship. Never mind which store you are using. :)
Yes, that’s part of the approach I’m talking about.

Read the emails. Specifically this section mentions that exactly from Phil

You mean the portion you highlighted that says Epic has a court documented history of ignoring rules they don't like and a recent record of saying strongly that they don't like these rules so Apple has no confidence their behavior will change and thus doesn't see a reason to reinstate their legally banned account? That's very different from the original claim that Apple was punishing Epic for their criticism.

Shocker. You aren’t entitled to live in someone else’s store lololol.
Lolol so funny isn't it. Maybe the EU will decide they are entitled. If it's the only ****ing way I can get their software on MY devices, it better be. Apple is getting worse by the day. I've been happy in their ecosystem for the last 20 years, but if they stay on that road I'll be happy to go another route.

I said they also stated due to their criticism. Which that email shows 😊

Apple has grown so big thanks to independent developers and has been profiting from their work for years, or rather, milking them and making them dependent. Apple should be grateful to have such a dedicated developer community that supports their hardware and software and ultimately leads users to buy their products. It's time to change, Apple.

Relationships are so bad with Epic now that it probably killed off any momentum in gaming on Mac’s. Since most games use Unreal.
