One solution is buy a big thick heavy rugged Otter box, they're well made and tough. They don't fit in your pocket so when you forget like I would and attempt to put in my pocket, I'll be instantly reminded this phone requires special handling. No more problem.

The damage is already done and the iPhone 6 plus has been stamped with "the phone that bends" regardless how insignificant the problem is compared to the millions sold this is gonna keep going viral and magnified by competitors as long as possible to effect sales and it's unlikely they will, if you wear skintight pants and sit with the phone in your pocket you are asking for trouble, over the years since i got my first iPhone i have never ever sat down with the iphone in my pocket and when im walking it's in my back pocket.

I don't make up my own test with my own tolerance and decide if it's ok or not. I pass of fail something based upon standards set in stone that everyone works to.

Without this a test means zero.

Sorry, but your testing doesnt cover most real world situations. Most dont

Real world testing must be reflected by lab testing of same situations, if not, then all your pathetic pass/fail tolerances MEANS ZERO

Your statement is horribly myopic at BEST

I feel sorry for Apple, genuinely:

Do the wrong thing: Seen as "losing"

Do the right thing: Seen as "losing"

#Trollgate

So... let me get this straight.

You genuinely feel sorry for "Apple". A "thing" which does not exist in reality? It's nothing but a word attached to a group of employees that make and sell product/service at an incredibly large profit margin.

A "thing" that has 600 billion dollars of value no less.

But, people in Africa are dying of Ebola right now.

Time to refocus your sympathy. :apple:

Have you been asleep for the last month?

:D :D :D

I'm more awake than you.

If all you do is post here, and read Apple fan forums, you'll think it's the entire world conversation... but, if you spend a few minute with adults, who have full time jobs, bills to pay and children to raise... Apple won't get but a seconds mention.

Truth be told, this is a big deal for Apple, their stock show that. But, this is not a big deal for the world.

LOL Apple is scrambling now, and their fanboys are scrambling too. I love watching this.

"Scrambling"?

Hardly, friend - it's called "Okay, let's put this tedious rubbish to rest, so we can get on with our business"

I'd be more concerned for those who are going to lose money AND face, after having trolled this "issue" into the ground.

I think this whole #bendgate thing is started by Samsung after they saw the succesful launch of the iphone 6 and iphone 6 Plus. I have an iPhone 6 Plus and if it was to bend. I would feel it. The device feels sturdy. And it has that premuim look that Samsung devices will never have.

Samsung's strategy backfired by prompting more AppleCare+ and case sales.

What? Where do people get this idea that The Verge is pro Apple?

Note 3 criticized for its size

Everyone wanted bigger, lighter thinner and they got it.!
I don't know about that. Almost every single person I know would prefer slightly thicker and heavier phones than today if that meant more sturdiness and above all: better battery capacity.

A couple of millimetres more or less in thickness means nothing when you see some of the bulky cases a lot of people cover their phones in.

I see a lot of anger here, which is understandable. Regardless of any test results, or by whom, it's too late now.

I am just waiting for competitors (especially Samsung) to milk this to no end... :D Oh, my bad, it's already begun.

The same argument could be made in support of those who argue here that Apple is without fault and this entire subject was created by a Samsung conspiracy.

My point being, it goes both ways.

On this forum, if something supports Apple then it's quite simply... FACT.

But if it in any way disparages Apple then it's a huge conspiracy perpetuated by stupid fat people and the media.

Seriously, the level of hypocrisy here is nuts.

Not really. Thousands of posts from people who haven't even experienced the issue complaining about the issue is hypocracy. Especially entertaining are all the structural engineers telling Apple how the phone should be made. It's just an echo chamber full of idiots.

+1. At this point we just need to wait on the Consumer Reports test and see how it compares to other phones. The current test by the guy bending phones by hand is not a scientific test. We have no way of knowing what Apple considers "good enough" in their lab either. Apple will never release hard data from their testing or compare it to competing models.

Everyone wanted bigger, lighter thinner and they got it. Now put on your big boy pants and take care of your phone!

... we did? I wanted a phone the size of an iPhone 4, but with touch ID and 128gb. Keep the thickness too. No need to be any thicker.

To say that all iPhone 6 has bending problem just by a slight force, is... really? That's way out of proportion and that's what media want us choose to believe.
Don't know about the 6 but for the 6+ it seems not unlikely. I guess time will tell. For the moment it's a few reports and a viral video agains Apple PR. All sides clearly like us to believe something.

I trust that it won't bend with a slight force. But I will take care not having it in my back pocket (as I'm used to with my 5s) when sitting down... That's way more than a slight force :)

Thank you for "putting me straight", person who thinks they know me, and took my comment to heart too much. No need to stress, I am well aware this is a VERY distorted perspective of the entire universe, seen from the perspective of people who's ONLY words uttered, tend to include the word "i<product>" or "Apple". I am aware... I am aware... thank you for correcting me.

Have a nice day :)

Have independent engineers run controlled tests.

Well, you originally said Apple should hire independent testers. They shouldn't hire testers at all because people will claim bias. And CR can't be hired.

Same goes for a competitor hiring "independent" testers—people will claim bias there, too.

The only solution is for several independent testers to do the testing on their own. No one is stopping them. Are there any such tests? I'm not asking that rhetorically...I'm actually curious if there are measured tests comparing different phones (vs. someone just bending it at some place with their bare hands and then saying that, yes, it's bendable).

Then people will still accuse those independent testers of some sort of bias (either for or against Apple depending on the results). And there probably is some form of bias there but no one knows for sure. It's a no-win situation.
