Apple Issues Invitations for October 4th iPhone Media Event

Perhaps the notification badge on the phone icon alludes to Apple not releasing the iPhone in the summer as per tradition. As in they might on Tuesday answer the "missed call" from the next iPhone.

But anyway, I can't wait to see what this phone looks like!

Like what though? If I'm getting my news from established sources like WSJ, CNN, etc, I rarely doubt them especially if they say things with certainty.

For example when WSJ was the first to say the iPhone to Verizon. They didn't say "The iPhone might go to Verizon" they said "Verizon will begin selling iPhones in February"...with that much conviction I'm not going to doubt an outlet like WSJ.
 
The "1" is obviously a reference to the U2 song, and thus, Bono will be introducing the new iPhone. They have collaborated on product Red stuff so I don't see how anyone could think it's anything else.

Yeah, only the timing. Of course, announcing it the day before Amazon does their tablet announcement isn't designed to take away from their press or anything... :)

I know this is extremely wishful thinking, but...

They announce the iPhone 5 on the 4th for immediate release/sale/preorder on the 5th. iPhone 5, iOS 5, A5 Processor, etc.

I can only dream. :)

Regardless, something new is coming. So, yay!

I dont see why there will be a disappointment here. It's an iPhone 5 afterall :eek:

I was thinking that the badge just meant that there is a message waiting... i.e. there is something that you need to listen to – which would be the iPhone announcement itself.

My take on the apps in the invite. On oct 4th at 10am apple changes the world with 1 new phone
 
I figured out the secret message from Apple's invite. I've read between all the lines and analyzed the image from the invite pixel by pixel....

The secret message is that they are holding an event they are calling "Let's Talk iPhone" on October 4th at 10am Pacific Daylight Time on their campus in Cupertino -- and they want the press to show up.

If you are trying to decipher this on your own at home and you get stuck, try holding a piece of red film over the icons to act as a filter. If you need a piece of red film you can look around your house for an old Transformers toy box which included such a film so you could read the Transformer's statistics on the side of the box. The secret message is embedded in the image.

Seriously.... I can't wait for October 4th. It's time to replace this iPhone 3GS.

Fanboys also cry at step 3, but for a completely different reason.
 
(Okay forgive me if this has been done already, I'm not reading 200 posts just to make this joke).

So the pictures seem to depict the event. The date, the time and the...location? Is the announcement going to be made in the middle of the road?

And the last icon, maybe because they missed their usual July announce day (yeah, that's a stretch, it's past my bedtime).
 
I am not interested in talking to my phone or my phone talking to me, so Assistant will be of no use for me (if Apple was aiming for a pun with "Let's talk iPhone"). If that's the major new feature and a speed boost/ better camera, then I will be content with my iPhone 4 for another year at least. The speed and camera is more than enough for me.
 
So no iphone 5 this year, only 4s. Got some puts on apple, gonna pay off huge once everyone realizes this.

In 300 Oct 11 $360 puts at 3.70 a piece
 
The "1" refers to the number of units shipping to each retail location for the first few months "due to supply constraints", as well as the average number of years (yes, years) apple ultra-fanboys will be waiting in an outdoor queue to get one.
