I kept waiting and waiting for someone to mention this.

THE 1 means 1 NEW Carrier!!!!!

Ok thank you,
AE

That's unlikely as people from around the globe will be travelling to the event. 1 new provider for the entire world?

Say whatever you want about Android, Google Navigation is the best navigation product on the market for smartphones. It has been the one thing that Apple has really failed to even compete with on any level. Hopefully they'll remedy that soon.

I agree it is the best navigation product, unfortunately it's implementation on Android is horrible.

Maybe the 1 is for one person allowed on the invite. Maybe other invites may show a 2 or 3 etc.

Not a fun theory sorry :p

Anyone else notice that the clock icon says 10:00, instead of the normal 10:15? It could be related to the date and time of the event, but I wonder if the icon itself will update in real time...

Like a widget might update...

:D

really people?

clock shows 10AM = events at 10AM
calendar shows Oct 4 = events on Oct 4
the map shows Apple's location = where the event is
the phone icon = they're talking about phone.

Lets break down the icons...

Calender - Date of event
Clock - Time of event
Map - Location of event (the Cupertino, California campus)
Phone - 1 new iPhone

Since you've got this figured out, what does the "1" on the phone = ?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8L1)

It's actually for one missed call. The icons are quite literal. What are they suggesting with a missed call - all the pundits have miss called as usual?

Wow in less than 100 posts "we" think we've completely deciphered the imagery on the invitation. Is Apple losing their touch? Are we becoming better guessers?

Where are the guesses like:
  • Could the 4 icons mean the new one will have a quad core processor?
  • The first letter of each icon name is CCMP... maybe "Can't Copy My Phone". Perhaps with all the legal action, the copy cats won't be able to duplicate the design of this one.
  • Etc

Com'on you hidden meaning people. What do the icon shadows mean? Why a second hand on the clock. Why isn't the pin actually in the loop instead of in the center of the road? Why the green diagonal stripes behind the phone?

You can't have a "new invitation" thread without at least 500 posts deciphering the secret, hidden meaning. To be done in <100 means something is wrong.;)

Something Android has had for years and still has.

Who cares? There are features iOS has that Android hasn't had. There are some that WebOS has that are great. Also Windows Phone. They all have distinctive stuff and they are all borrowing/stealing stuff from each other. All Apple owners know two things when they buy Apple products:

1) Apple is most likely to give you the user experience you want with some mind-blowing innovative things.

2) Apple will forego some features that seem like obvious omissions until either they feel they can get the user experience correct or they feel it is finally become a priority over other things.

Apple customers have always and will always be on Apple's time schedule. It is the trade off you make for getting an integrated solution that works well with the rest of their stuff. You ride on the rails -- if you don't like where those rails are going, you get off the train and you take a cab. Often, those rails go places that the others are not even thinking about going until Apple gets there.

No its held in the US, so one new carrier for the US. Also its unlikely people will travel for this one since its held in a much smaller venue than usual. In other words, very limited seats likely to be sold out to north america who see the news first. Ie. Reporters and bloggers and huge fanboys

Sweet tapdancing Jesus... did you guys notice the apostrophe in "Let's" on the bottom?

Call me crazy, but I counted 392 pixels in that apostrophe! We all know what that means!

Add the 4 and 5 in "iPhone 4S" and "iPhone 5" ... That's 9!

9 x 4 (the day of the announcement) is 14!

14 x 7 (the number of letters in Tuesday) is 98!

98 x 4 (the number of waffles Tim Cook had this morning) is 392!!!

It all makes so much sense now! All settled, back to Ain't Waistin' Time No More by Allman Brothers Band. (Pun intended)

Am I doing it right?

They're showing when and where it's taking place, (10 AM, October 4th, 1 Infinite Loop) and something else...

I prefer to think of the 1 as "1 keynote taking place", as they obviously can't say they're launching just one product.

We know they'll be talking about at least:

1.) iCloud
2.) iOS 5
3.) A New iPhone

And they could very well talk about:

4.) A New iTunes
5.) New iPods
6.) An additional New iPhone

you guys think too much... if you take the 1 on the phone, then the circle or "0" that is the clock, then the 4 on the calendar... you get 10/4... it's just the date backwards ;) lol

Facebook app

I'll bet if that happens then Zuck will be there himself to launch it,
trying to position himself as a cultural successor to Big Steve.
That should be a hoot watching him trying to glom on.
