Windows 8.1 with the latest iTunes does no have the option to "control click" (as per Mac Instructions under preferences>Devices) to Archive my backup. I can't see ANY option to Archive my backup. Is this not necessary via Windows or am I missing something?
In Windows you can browse to the %appdata%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder and rename the folder with the long numbers. (Append a date on the end or the iOS version). Then you can run another backup and see both in the iTunes UI. You can save multiple backups this way.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned, but programs that need to access the /usr directory will break. An example is the MacTeX distribution, and the included GUI applications. They expect to be able to create and read /usr/texbin, which is an alias to the most recent installation of TeXLive you have installed. El Capitan removes this link and prevents you from writing to the /usr directory. Apps are expected to update to use /usr/local or some other place.

If you download the MacTeX 2015 edition, it will create an additional alias in /Library/TeX/texbin so you can point your apps to that if they give you trouble. I tried doing this manually with the 2014 distribution and never got it to work. The new version worked once I pointed TeXShop and other apps to that new alias.

Trim was enabled on my 10.10.4 and the upgrade to 10.11 turned it off. I expected that Trim would be enabled by default? I had to run the command to enable it. :)

Could you please tell us one important detail: When you ran "sudo trimforce enable", did you have to disable rootless first?

Yaya, keychain finally quit it's infinite loop of authentication for me and allowed me to properly disable it then re-enable and reset without involving another device to activate it. One problem solved, another problem created... now my USB McIntosh D100 DAC has a 1 second audio blackout every 15 seconds no matter from what media player, youtube, iTunes, or JRiver. They must have changed something significant about USB stack and the asynchronous timing priorities. As an audiophile this is too much of a price to pay for getting keychain to finally work... hope they fix this soon because I would hate to be stuck as the only person experiencing USB audio problems and to never get a fix for it.

El Cap on my rMBP working pretty smoothly, certainly happy enough with it for now. iOS9 on the iPad Air, not bad either, don't use it for anything exciting. Phone on the other hand:

- Killed battery (app says 68% of use is background photos app stuff)
- Heating up as a consequence
- Few iffy phone call handoff moments with the watch

...back to 8.4 I go on the phone for now.

Had to roll back to 8.4 as MobileIron (what my company requires in order to access the Exchange mail server) does not seem to work well. Battery still seems to be an issue. I had my phone plugged in the entire time. Battery was at 88% before install started, it was at 83% when completed and the phone was very warm. I'm going to wait this beta out for good.

What's the point. Apple software for the last 2 years have been released in a state of disasters. Those of you participating in public betas aren't doing a very good job ever since Yosemite and iOS 8.

I'm finding the iOS 9 beta to be incredibly stable. It almost seems as good as a final release. The new Search doesn't seem to be implemented yet and one app I rarely use is incompatible. That's it.

Anyone know where the public transportation directions are in the maps app in this beta? Not seeing an option for that on my 4s, only driving & walking directions.

Did anyone noticed this?
Considering we are all suffering here trying to figure out what's compatible and what's not, this warning found in the beta program guide for El Capitan may be a relief.

I had this too, and I discovered there was another 8.4 update, before I could jump to iOS 9.

Had you ever installed the stable release of 8.4?

Each time I re-install the 8.4 profile, Update tells me I have the latest version of iOS 8.4 ... no further beta downloads. I'm not sure how to force Update to show me the new bits.

I saw that and think what apps that I currently use now, I don't use any of the apps listed with "known" problems as stated -- so I completed the form for the Beta and installed it onto my internal drive ... Since my main boot drive is SSD and internal is beta software drive .... Yes I backup my main drive off site but I use my beta drive as a BETA drive its only Testing only and I don't care if I have to re-install on that drive....

Installed iOS 9 on iPhone 6 and iPad 2, but no Apple News App got installed. Anyone with the same problem?

In case nobody has already noted, Developer Beta 3 is build 15A216g , and This Public Beta is build 15A215h -- I am not sure which is the newer build!?! As a registered developer, I knew Apple did something something similar with Yosemite, when at the time the Public Beta 1 was released, the current Developer build was a newer build. Could anyone clarify on this?

Is anyone else having troubling redeeming their redemption code? It says "code redemption temporarily unavailable"

Edit: It's working now

Rolled the dice and installed the iOS9 beta on an iPad mini 2 and a 4s. It is solid on both. It seems like a lot of under the hood optimization is going on. The 4s in particular is running more smoothly.
