It's hard to believe you can't understand the difference.

The unauthorized video by the engineer with a non-disclosure contract's daughter showed internal Apple QR codes and meeting schedules and even if it didn't, it was a week ahead of Apple's strategic promotional schedule which is planned with military precision.

Do you really treat ethics so cavelierly in your own career?

Agreed, it appears some people just don't have common sense.

Interesting. Apple is using the "Influencer" market. Is this a first for them?

This is a advertising technique used (most notably) by the gaming industry. That said, I don't think it's a sign of "desperation" especially when my pre-order *still* doesn't have a ship date (Yeah, I didn't stay up until 3 AM ET to pre-order. LOL)

Is that the same advertising style as when you 'interview' moviegoers as they exit a movie for advertising. That's the marketing used when the movie is really, really, really bad.

I think that may only be showing up because of the camera the video was taken with. Kind of like if you take a video of a remote control while pressing the buttons on a camera without an IR filter.
Right, most video camera's can "see" a wider spectrum of light than the human eye. It's very common for videos of IR devices will be visible in the videos but not to your eyes. This is actually a handy tool at times, you can use your phone to "see" if IR devices are actually emitting light.

The X won't have visible, annoying blinking when scanning your face.

Desperation.

Phone isn't selling as expected.

People are nervous at HQ.
Parody post? If not, LOL.

Is this based on the 5.5M units sold in 5 HOURS in China alone? Reported by a Chinese Apple analyst who is not overly bullish on the company ($150 price target).

Is it based on all US supply being pushed to 5-6 weeks in <hour?

What are you iPhone X haters truly basing ANY of this wild speculation of poor sales upon? I mean, really. EVERY single article has been about the insane demand for the phone. Are you all speculating it's ALL because of poor supply?

And BTW...did Apple orchestrate these no name "YouTubers" to give positive reviews in 1 day after realizing sales were "not good" over the weekend? These are not even influential YouTube reviewers.

Just stop posting.

Ok, so what's so exciting here? Looks and acts pretty much like the other eight iPhones I have owned.
Yeah, it's all iterative at this point, even the X. And I don't say that as a bad thing because iPhone is a very mature product with a great user experience. But iOS is iOS, and a multitouch glass-slab smartphone is a multitouch glass-slab smartphone. It isn't going to be fundamentally different from what the iPhone has been for ten years, just a slightly better version of it.

Interesting that they went with these more unknown YouTubers instead of the bigger ones like MKBHD or iJustine etc
They probably have review units already, watch for full reviews from them on the 3rd.

Yes but my point was more or less that a shift in marketing strategy doesn't necessarily have to correlate with sales at all.

If you are saying market strategy, new, old, modified, orange, purple, whatever doesn't have to correlate with trying to increase sales, no. Everything a company does is and effort to grow sales.

If you are saying a shift in market strategy doesn't necessarily result in increased sales, yes, that goes without saying. History is full of failed marketing strategies.

Is that why Apple's pre-order inventory reportedly sold out in FIFTEEN MINUTES when pre-orders opened?

Is that why T-Mobile's online orders were so slammed that I needed to make multiple attempts (yes, I got one that way to ship this Friday, and another via phone rep)?
I've decided to stop responding to these people. They are literally just Apple haters and will post completely false information and present it as true despite the facts to confirm their false narrative.

To say the iPhone X has been anything but a success in its first 3 days of pre-ordering is just completely ignoring the facts (the few we actually know). Look how the stock has performed. The market CERTAINLY thinks it's been a success and we know the market is much smarter than some random guy on MacRumors.

The iPhone X might turn into a massive failure, but to call it that now is just being a hater. They are 5-6 weeks everywhere, sold 5.5M in china in 5 hours (reported in China), and is easily the most talked about gadget of 2017.

YouTube Stars, yay.

Would be neat if they pulled in some of the earliest iPhone customers, and did videos with them. . Granted the reviews would be equally bias, but it would feel more real.

Looking forward to critical reviews from respectable tech journalists who are platform independent and not in the pockets fo either Google or Apple. Hard to find them these days, but I like hearing from people who don’t always inflate Apple.

Heh I wish I had your restraint!
Why would it sell as well as any iPhone before it?
Its the most expensive phone ever so I would understand if it sold less.
Anyhow, haters gonna hate ;)

They released launch order numbers for both the 6 and the 6s (10 million and 13 million respectively during the first three days). It was with the 7 last year Apple refused to say what the opening weekend numbers were.

If preorders are "off the chart" I would expect Apple to say so either today or on the earnings call Thursday when they discuss future guidance.
They've stopped releasing sales numbers because they are an indicator of supply, not demand. Sure, you can be cynical and say they should report every pre-order as a sale, but they can't because they can't report a sale until it's shipped since pre-orders can be cancelled.

Looking forward to listening to Andy talk about it on MacBreak weekly. An Android user who is a regular on an Apple themed posdcast. Also interested in listening to the folks on All About Android and DTNS talk about it too. Those are definitely my Go-To for early reviews, and will wait for some of the contributors of those podcasts to do their more detailed tests.

While she is a huge fan of anything Apple, Serenity Caldwell will be worth waiting for a review from. She is a fan, but can be brutally direct on occasion.

Ha Ha, probably, but UPS "my choice" shows my X on its way for Friday. I buy what works for me, could care less what the bloggers have to say. I wanted the Plus phone features in the smaller form factor case, that was my buy trigger. Hopefully the face unlock and GUI workarounds for no home button will be smooth. What's great is that Apple has a good return policy so I get to use the phone long enough to keep or throw back. I had a plus, loved the features but returned, hoping for the best with the X.
