Looking forward to listening to Andy talk about it on MacBreak weekly. An Android user who is a regular on an Apple themed posdcast. Also interested in listening to the folks on All About Android and DTNS talk about it too. Those are definitely my Go-To for early reviews, and will wait for some of the contributors of those podcasts to do their more detailed tests.

While she is a huge fan of anything Apple, Serenity Caldwell will be worth waiting for a review from. She is a fan, but can be brutally direct on occasion.
Andy would be fine....and definitely Serenity.

You agree, specifically based on what? The only official statement we have from Apple is that sales are “off the charts”, and this does not jibe well with “desperation”, along with iPhone 8 doing great in China.

We’ll see in 3 months how “desperate” Apple really is; Wall Street seems to be very pleased so far, with a fresh all time high set today.

I’ll be here in 3.

Love how these reviewers are all pushing 3d emojis in all the videos...........smh
3D emojis are going to be a gigantic hit. Haters gonna hate. Honestly, what do you use a phone for these days? A lot of it is a tool, but all phones can make calls, check email, and browse the web.

Apple understands that people LIKE to have fun and using emojis in this way targets a very important audience for Apple's future, tweens and teens. Apple is a genius company and that's why they are more valuable today than EVER before, including when Jobs ran Apple.

The first video came across as unprepared and boring. Soldier Knows Best did well. I have seen many of his videos. The blonde girl's video was short and to the point. Didn't watch the last two.

I don't see this as desperation on Apple's part. I see it as smart marketing to get more of the average, not in the hip pocket of companies reviews done. Congrats to those who got picked.

As to "EverythingApplePro," I am not impressed with him or his bait click videos for revenue. iJustine is very easy on the eyes and seems to be very nice, albeit a little too airy for my constant video viewing.

DetroitBorg, TechnoBuffalo etc. should have some good videos once they have had time to do some testing.

Hm, the notch just draws your attention, the irregularity just makes you look at it all the time. Always that notion, hey, what's wrong in that corner?
And the no-bezel-situation may look good on paper, but as I suspected, you either hold the phone really awkward or you cover up parts of the screen with your hands.
Ergonomics? None!

Waiting for Mr. Mobile's review. By far the best writer, and tech reviewer. MKBHD respects him a lot. Obviously waiting for MKBHD's review as well.

Face ID looks like a pain in the ass, just as expected. In fact that whole "home bar" looks like a pain in the ass. Really not looking forward to upgrading to this thing in the coming years (next year, likely).

And you can be sure not one of these people including Levy would ever say anything negative about the phone because they would surely become persona non grata.

Smart marketing, these few Youtubers will get more views than the top few publications will. I think the opinions of these may carry greater weight than those of The Verge or Engadget these days also.

Small times getting special invite. Having a bunch of Apple employees looking at them recording. Maybe getting a free iPhone.

Great "ads" for Apple, but I place these at the most unreliable sources for unedited truth, they will most likely only put out the positive sides.

Maybe you just don't have a lot of disposable income? The phone can be had for <$1100 including tax, btw. Similar to high end smartphones like the Note 8.

Like the Note 8 Android fans rave about? In fact, the Note 8 even wraps the screen MORE on the sides. I actually give Apple credit for not making the bezels even thinner. It's actually annoying to have the screen wrapping around the sides (I have used a Note 8 extensively and own a Note currently).

How so? Maybe you have a low pain threshold ? :)

Like little pin pricks to your brain. Once you have quick easy convenience, it's a little ping of stress for anything less than.

The biggest thing to me right now is multi tasking animation, (looks slow and potentially clunky), and the speed of face ID. Specifically needing to swipe up, and also the fact that you have to have it in front of your face. The easiest scenario is when you're standing and the phone is in front of your face (like shown in these videos). Even in that situation, it doesn't look as convenient as Touch ID.

Oh my god!!! The true depth sensors actually blink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know why, I don't like that.....
Yes, I noticed the strobing when the facial recognition was in use. I think the purple strobing is coming from the dot projector. Remember, it's blasting your face and eyes with 30,000 infrared dots. I don't know if this is visible when using it, or the infrared is just showing up that way on the video.

Infrared light is invisible to human eyes. It's the same as if you'd point a TV remote at your face. You won't see it, it's just being picked up by the camera sensors.

They only blink on these videos because the video camera being used is not filtering out the infrared lights properly. In actual life your eyes wont see it.
It will definitely register on your retina. When bright visible light is flashed in your eyes you look away instinctively. But with infrared, it's not visible. The question is how bright is this dot projector? Hope there isn't any long term damage.
