Couldnt agree more - the current format looks a bit toyish whilst this design looks professional and solid.

My 3GS is mint except the hairline cracks form the stupid plastic casing!!!!

How long after the WWDC does the iphone usually take to hit the shelves?

In the past two wwdc, about a month.

Whether it's real iPhone 4G or not, let's wait for Steve to confirm then

A brief translation for those whom are not fluent in Vietnamese.

"Mr. Nam Phuong brought this to us."

"Front is glass as well as back." (really?)

"It's slimmer, but taller so it feels quite a bit longer."

"The build has a great durable quality with a secure heft."

"The design has a more masculine look and feel than prior."

"The phone was disabled by incorrect password and not remotely by Apple."

Everything else we're already aware of such as ports, cameras, GB.

I checked the 480p video on youtube (engaget) and I dunno - maybe the screen is a higher resolution?

Skip to 1:45 and watch in 480p mode, the text does look fairly crisp.

Translation:

I met this drunk apple guy in a bar, he was mesmerized by the size of my nail, suddenly he told me:
"Hey, you know, my boss told me to "lose"(wink, wink) two phones in very distant locations... where are you from again?"

And so the story goes.

As always with Apple, they know a new design is enough "pull" to sell it. Capacity will be below expectations, leaving room for a bump down the line. IMO, unless they offer 3 capacity options, the 64GB won't be available initially. But if it is, expect it to be stupid expensive. There's always at least one let-down when a new model of anything arrives. Call me cynical. :apple:

The thing looks like a brick compared to the lines of the older phones. I wonder if that's only on the prototype models, as I would think they are working on functionality more than aesthetics in a prototype.

All this talk About Apple intentionally leaking info this way is getting totally prepostorous. do you really think Apple would intentionally let the authorities ransack Gizmodo offices or lose iphones in Vietnam to market the iPhone?

It's time some people get a bit in touch with how the real world works.. These things were lost or smuggled out of a factory and someone found them. Nothing more than that.
Nooo!!! I've seen Prison Break, 24, JFK, the Pelican Brief, The DaVinci Code and Wag the Dog, I know exactly how the world works. People with money and power are puppetmasters with magical powers. They control the media, the government and the authorities.

Oh, pre-emptive response to anyone who dares doubt this world order: "You're sooooo naiiiiiiiiiive..."

[/end sarcasm]

My thoughts exactly! Especially if it's a guy I find it kind of scary :S One I had a colleague who had a really long nail on his pinky, and he used that to push the tabacco down while rolling a cigarette... We (both my male as well as my female colleagues) were constantly complaining about his really long nail and that he really ought to clip it off, but he just smiled and never did... Good on him then, with his scary long nail :S

In my day ... the long nail on the pinky was used by the local coke dealer to sample the product.

I think it is more so the overall seams than just that particular line. This design is very blocky compared to the previous models. Honestly if I didn't know anything about iPhones and you placed these two devices in front of me, I wouldn't be able to tell you which one is the new one. The designs are so drastically different. One of my complaints is the metal on the outer rim of the phone looks cheap and not polished looking like that of my ipad or the unibody pro's. I also don't like the buttons on the exterior. Not a fan of the round buttons rather that the current design. I will buy one inevitably but there better be something absolutely mind boggling at the WWDC for me to really want one and accept this new model as a nice phone.

The thing looks like a brick compared to the lines of the older phones. I wonder if that's only on the prototype models, as I would think they are working on functionality more than aesthetics in a prototype.

It looks like the Mac's, where apple brings the glass to the edge and then the aluminum sides.

Ahhh, an iPhone is how many times smaller than an iPad? The only reason the iPod touch could fit in 64GB was with 2x 32GB flash. The iPhone doesn't have space for 2 because of the extra cell/communications/GSM chip that the touch doesn't have.

Logic would suggest that the only way we will see 64GB in the next gen iPhone is if single 64GB flash memory is freely available (i'm not sure it is). And based on all the additional upgrades (extra cam, higher res screen, etc) how can they keep this at a similar cost? And what will be left to upgrade next year?!

Flash capacity will continue to increase. Apple needs to remember that limiting their phones to internal flash only, and keeping it at a value that was ok 12 months ago is going to cost them sales.

For my wife, an iPhone with less than 64GB flash will mean it's a deal breaker. For me, well I'll probably get one anyway.

I thought the same, but........

Asian knock-offs already?;)

I was ready to say it was a knock-off too, but since it clearly shows the same Apple branded A4 chip, I have to assume it's legit. Maybe not the final design (I'm expecting a unibody-type final product), yet close to what the final product will look like. I can't wait! I love it!

Does it say anywhere what the official screen size is? How many iPhones need to leak before someone puts a ruler to the screen??

Is Everybody complaining about this when they talk about the seams?

1lgcJ.jpg

ya unfortunately people are like that... i'm sure if Apple would eliminate the seem they could, but maybe at this time they can't? either it's still a prototype, or they need it when servicing the phone.. they gotta open it somehow lol

people also think you can magically fit as many GB as you wish into a small iPhone..
