My friend would always say that I'm using gay-tech when he discovers that I got a new Apple device.. Looks like he isn't wrong after all

Google and Microsoft support the GLBT community as well, so everyone is using gay tech. You’re proud of using gay tech, right? If you’re not or ashamed, that’s exactly why pride month exists cause of all the negative thing GLBT folk endure.

This makes me sick. Why do brands pander to those that live in sin?
If you have any faith in G-d you would know that homosexuality is an abomination.
They do this to normalize the sin.
It is still sin. Don’t do it. Pray for forgiveness. Open your heart and pray for redemption.
I’ll be praying for them.
What makes you think society and large corporations need to pander to you and your god instead though? What makes your beliefs superior and prioritised over anybody else?

You may think your beliefs are the only option, but you touched on it when you said ‘if you have any faith in god’..... A lot of society aren’t religious or believe in god and I am one of those people. I wouldn’t tell you your lifestyle is wrong simply because I think you believe in something that isn’t real. This is why more understanding is needed and the very reason pride events are held worldwide.

I really don’t hate you because you all LGBTQ community choose being something that was never classified as a gender at all.

People having sex with same gender today or thousands of years back doesn’t make it right!

Even in all Abrahamic religions same gender sex was never OK. It is a huge sin you like it or not.

Do you think being a guy marrying another guy then thinking we want to have kids then decide to get eggs from sister and plant it into mother is something natural?

https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/30/us/woman-gives-birth-to-granddaughter/index.html

If you think that is normal and healthy relationship will come out of this, then I really hope you find peace someday.

God who created everything would’ve done much better than this chaos in human relations.

In short, relationships are mend to be between men and women shaded by marriage.
Is it me, or does this dude sound like a total closet case? LOL

As straight individuals (in the same states).

You still don't get it. The fact that straight people also don't have protections against discrimination in these red states is a totally false equivalence. Straight people don't face anything close to the same level of discrimination as gay people. It would be like saying we didn't need anti discrimination laws in the South for race because white people weren't protected either. We absolutely needed Federal anti discrimination laws because people were being denied the right to vote, get loans, and compete for jobs and promotions because of the color of their skin.

We don't need white history month because history books are chuck full of stuff about white people. We don't need straight Pride month because straight people have not lived in the closet subject to discrimination and violence for centuries.

It appears that you're not understanding what I am talking about. There is no equivalence in my posts, and I made no argument against anti-discrimination laws (quite the opposite).

I'm sorry, but 10 pages in, and literally no one has mentioned the stonewall riots. The events of that night was the literal catalyst of this whole movement. What happened that night is the reason why we have these pride marches. And I just want to thank every person here who accepts us who are LGBTQ+ You guys are true allys. We love & appreciate you all. Love is love and love conquers all.

I'm honestly quite surprised with some of the comments made here, considering we're all NERDS at the end of the day and we all share the same love we have for Apple. You wouldn't appreciate someone judging you for loving Apple so much to the point where you visit Macrumors daily, and have literal conversations with strangers on the internet about the company and their products, right? So don't judge others just because we're part of a different community than yours, or because we parade the streets celebrating everything us LGBTQ+ folk have overcome through the years, and continue to overcome on the daily. If you don't understand something, please just ask and we'll help you understand things from our perspective. If you still don't quite understand/don't agree, then just accept the fact that we are different, and MOVE ON. Makes no sense to dwell on something you don't fully comprehend/agree with. That's the beautiful thing about being human, we're ALL different and we ALL have different mindsets. We don't ask of you to accept it, but to TOLERATE it. *corny quote incoming* SpReAd LoVe, NoT hAtE. <3 Take it easy guys.

Every time these articles come out, it reminds me how toxic the community on this site is.

Homophobia, constantly winging and hating everything Apple ever does or releases, it’s just plain sad.

Who would have thought an Apple fan site would be host to right wing nut jobs?

Disliking having “gay pride” shoved down your throat at every turn for an entire month does not mean you are a “homophobe”. Just saying.

Please show some evidence where returning U.S. soldiers were spat on and I don't mean heresay but evidence.

even as I slept through history class given to me in a third language at an international school I remember reading about the protests that occurred and affected a lot of returning US soldiers.

I am not a US citizen or resident, but I have been absolutely fascinated by the recent Vietnam war documentary by Burns and Novick. One of the last episodes deals with veteran treatment upon their return.
In my opinion that documentary series should be required curriculum for everyone on the planet because it takes a very good 360-degree view of war, propaganda. It frames the Vietnam war in particular as a civil war within Vietnam as well as a political chess match of the cold war.

The parallels to todays situation in North Africa and the middle East are an interesting extrapolation.

I have seen the series, no evidence.

The beautiful symmetry of prejudiced, ignorant and outright homophobic, transphobic or any other views that disparage anyone who happens to be different, is that by uttering hateful comments you underline exactly why the need for protests, pride marches, campaigning and arguing for equality and diversity in society are things that are still necessary.

As a straight (or am I?) white (or am I?) user of Apple products (or am... ok, that one is a given...!:p) I am proud of their attitude on these issues.

Good point on the soldiers returning from Vietnam (and other wars).

As for the Burns documentary, it is good but full of errors and misleading statements.

It's not about wanting a "medal". It's about making sure you're accepting of it and making sure it's okay with you to continue a friendship for instance. That's it. That's the whole point of someone telling you they're gay.

My point still stands. In the UK they have as much rights as straight people, as I said they are treated equally. I guess it’s different having an American mentality to it?
You don’t need to tell someone your gay for them to be friends with you, it’s not a disability!

From your post as it relates to red states not having protections against discrimination for sexual orientation: "As straight individuals (in the same states)."

Seems like a pretty obvious attempt to create an equivalence. It seems to me you are saying that it is no big deal that gay people don't get protections in these states because straight people don't get protections either. That is a false equivalence. There is no comparison between the discrimination faced by gay people vs straight people.

when is straight month? JK

If we could add the letter "S" to the LGBTQ to represent straight people as well then the initialism would represent all groups. I feel like I'm being left out whenever I see those people marching around with multi colored flags. :(

No, I am not comparing anything. I am saying that the same laws apply, answering to a post that said that gays can be fired for being gay. That is, I am saying that the problem is not within the legal framework meant as in gays don't have protections that others do; no one does (in those states). It is important to elaborate that it's not the law that leaves a category behind, but it's a cultural landscape, because the law is NOT differentiating between gays and straight. If you want to add protections, you also have to do it for every category.

That is pointless. The bottom line is we need laws to protect minorities from discrimination and hateful acts. In the 60s, we could have thrown our hands in the air and said, let’s not have federal laws protecting minorities civil rights, since it’s just part of the cultural landscape. Let’s just wait for the landscape to change. Where would we be today?
