September will feature iPod touch & iTunes 9 updates only.

Apple feels the tablet warrants its own event (rightfully so). And that event will happen in January - marking Steve's next & last keynote.

Between now and January's tablet event, we will see some price drops on hardware - specifically (but not limited to) the iMac line.

But I'm no gambling man...

I wouldn't be surprised to see price cuts on the iMacs in time for the Christmas shopping season (and before new iMacs with Arrandale processors are announced in January.)

80GB iPod Classic?

I wonder if they will make the iPod Classic smaller again this year. That was really weird last year when the reduced the size from 160GB to 120GB.

80GB will not return. The reason Apple eliminated the 160GB was to make just one model iPod Classic. So they tossed out the 160GB model and bumped the 80GB model to 120GB.

I thought it's already been announced the Beatles remaster downloads will be released on their own website. But it would be cool if they were on iTunes. I'm sure they'd sell more.

I have the limited mono boxset pre-ordered. :D

I think it'd be awesome if it happened to be on September 9. It's the same day that the 'other' Apple is releasing not only The Beatles: Rock Band, but also The Beatles' entire remastered catalogue... possible addition of The Beatles into the iTunes Store too...???

At the moment there's no definitive plans for any Beatles downloads - Dhani Harrison (George's son) has said that he feels that the prices offered by iTunes are too cheap and that if it comes to it then they may explore the possibility of opening a downloads store on the official Beatles site.

I hate to break it to ya'all...but Apple will never release a tablet.

In fact, I don't think any company will ever successfully market and sell such a device...it's like a unicorn...nice to think about but just has no practical use.

At the rate they're going, Apple will have one product to sell in five years.

The first thing I thought about when I saw the date was The Beatles.
It's no lock, but it's certainly more plausible than it's ever been. Especially with the new $1.29 pricing.

It's really NOT likely that Apple would make another product to create a competition against its own laptop line.
Bullcrap. They did this with the iPhone/Touch, knowing it would cannibalize traditional iPod sales. The notion that you "protect" an existing product line is IBM-speak, not Apple. By continuing to innovate, you move the goalposts that much farther away for your competition.
