Casual gamers are not going to pay money for a subscription.
The service may have more than just casual gaming.

They make a large commission on iOS games and IAPs, and I think that market is bigger than either PC or console gaming.Everyone But Apple has succeeded in gaming Space, even Nintendo Switch with absolutely cheap CPU+GPU Chip won in this market over Apple, whereas Apple even with the best and most powerful processor in the market never even cared to focus on it.
On an iPhone? The service may have more than just casual gaming.
More people probably read tweets than novels. It doesn't make them more interesting, just more accessible.
How would a new game console for game services be any different than the current Apple TV? I suppose they could add more local storage but if the rumored game service is anything like Stadia, you won't even need more storage. If they do that then they really should build their own game console.
There are plenty of people that want to play games but Apple doesn't care about nor understand gaming culture. They own the casual games market but that's only because the app store freemium model aligns perfectly with casual gaming lifestyle. Every time Apple has tried to cater to hardcore gamers it's failed. They did, it's called the Apple TV. Turns out nobody really wants to play games on it, though.
If you replace "subscription" with "repeat buys" or "things people have to remember to buy regularly" it's not so crazy. It's just consumerism. It's crazy how many subscriptions consumers are expected to take out. A subscription for music, TV, dog food, vitamins and a plethora of other examples.

On an iPhone?
[doublepost=1553372477][/doublepost]Everyone is making cloud gaming, and it's kinda funny to think how many people with 1337 gaming PCs are regretting their "investments" now.
Money has never stopped Apple from killing revenue sources if it creates a better service in the long run. They are famous for cannibalizing functional products and services to create something better. That's the problem. They aren't going to remove the freemium model. It makes too much money for devs and Apple. This service would be in addition to the freemium model. Only certain devs would even be interested.
People are more than willing to spend $10+ on games, but not upfront because there is so much garbage on the app store, the odds of getting your moneys worth is very low. Freemium allows people to see if it's worth spending money on.Although "everybody" hates freemium model, everybody ain't willing to drop $5 to $10 on a mobile game
[doublepost=1553375915][/doublepost]Apple also wanted to control the game controllers as well, so they ended up being unnecessarily expensive. As well as initially insisting all games should work with the ****** remote - which isn’t really suitable for a game controllerIf they do that then they really should build their own game console.
That’s because the remote sucks as a controller!!! It’s possible we’ll see Apple introduce a controller similar to what Google just introduced.
Google sucks at everything not search, not maps, not mail, not photos, not mobile os, not entry level laptops, not streaming video, not browsers, not cloud, not machine learning, not personal assistants, not...Google has been pretty bad at execution on anything but search it took them and absolute eternity to get their Google docs right
This is a smart move given the credit card mentality of the world and no one paying attention to where their money is going when you click on the subscription and people keep paying
I think I'd rather stick with my Playstation 4 and my legacy games on Parallels. I honestly don't like the soundsof streaming everything with no chance of owning a physical copy of said game.
I'm already dreading that day.If Sony goes cartridge for the plantation 5 than those Blu-ray’s will be obsolete and your games will have to be download at a retail price.
The remote sucks as a remote. The 2nd worst product Apple has ever created, just behind the puck mouse. That’s because the remote sucks as a controller!!!
Casual gamers paid $130 billion last year on virtual gems and coins. Far more than any subscription would cost.Casual gamers are not going to pay money for a subscription.

"Apple have long been working on a streaming games service and there are several high profile games that have been signed and are to be launched." => based on what evidence? As far as I'm aware, this is just a rumorThis is not a rumour. Apple have long been working on a streaming games service and there are several high profile games that have been signed and are to be launched. I think most people will be impressed.
