Any chance of it being delivered on the thursday? Or do they hold them til friday or something?

Hmm..anyone up for guessing how many copies of leopard were sold today? I say a few thousand...but I'm not quite sure.

I'd like to know too. I paid for the (expedited) fast shipping, so does that mean I should get it before that friday? Since the free shipping says it will deliver on that friday. hmm..?

One thing I find odd is that Leopard Server has a much nicer default background than regular Leopard...and it shows off the menubar better:

The blue is a lot nicer.

I'll just get my company to buy me a copy when it comes out. I'm not sure it's worth NZ$200 of my own money :)

Just ordered using my iphone discount. I cant wait till oct. 26!!!

As a Japanese, the addition of Japanese and English-Japanese dictionaries alone is huge ! It alone costs $50 or something if you buy it separately, right ? How much does it cost to get New American Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus digitally ?

Anyhow, thank you for paying for my Japanese dictionary, you guys :)

Sorry if someone asked this already (I'm not prepared to read 888 replies to the thread to look for it), but I'm curious about the 867 Mhz G4 minimum speed given this used PowerMac I have is a DUAL 553MHz G4 (with both CPUs, it's overall throughput is not far off from a 867Mhz, IMO and Leopard is better for more than 1 CPU). I've also heard Leopard is FASTER than Tiger, so why put an artificial clock speed limit on Leopard?

Yes, I plan to get a newer Intel Mac once I find one with a decent GPU, but I don't plan to throw out this old one until it's useless to me either. I just know how much software I ran into when it had Jaguar that I couldn't run just because authors didn't bother to support older operating system revisions and I'm afraid it will be the same with Leopard over Tiger in time (like by next spring, otherwise useful utilities, etc. might not even bother supporting Tiger). Heck, will the non-beta Safari even support Tiger? Who knows. But unless I add a CPU accelerator board to this PowerMac, it apparently won't be running Leopard.

the good balances out the bad :)

i was playing WoW on tiger...when my brother started downloading in the next room ( on his windows machine ), so my WoW connection gets all messed up. so i quit and come on here to read the news.

preordered 30 seconds later :D

bad = connection not good enough to play WoW when ppl are downloading

good = LEOPARD!!!!!

I will probably wait until 6pm and just buy it in the store.

But I did pre-order Leopard Server today.

I just need to ensure that I get all of my work done over the next two weeks so I can play on Leopard Day... :)

Apple Marketing sux

Now I just started reading the "300+ new features"-page, and I don't know what the hell the marketing departement did there. Just some great advertising from that page:

2 new features:
"Mouse Controls for Exposé
Control Exposé with any button on your mouse. Specify the mouse controls in the Exposé and Spaces pane in System Preferences."

"Mouse Controls for Dashboard
Launch your Dashboard widgets with any button on your mouse. Specify the mouse controls in the Exposé and Spaces pane in System Preferences."

Well, I'm pretty damn sure I have my middle mouse button set to do Exposé currently, and I'm also pretty sure the same applies to Dashboard on another machine.

And in some cases I really think they should've kept quiet. I wasn't aware, that some things won't work in Tiger, I consider basic (e.g. autosaving in TextEdit, removing history items periodically in Safari).

Nevertheless, I will get it, as soon as an updated version is sent to DVD pressing (I guess that will be around 10.5.3).

Apple just sent me an e-mail:

Dear Apple Customer,

Thank you for placing your Leopard OS order with the Apple Store.

You would have received an Apple Web Acknowledgment Email from us by now.

We would like to inform you that there is an amendment to our Leopard online FAQ web link. You can visit our new web link at :

http://store.apple.com/Catalog/Hongkong/Images/leopard_faq_hk.html

Thank you for choosing Apple!

I can't tell what they changed ? Maybe just the blurb about Leopard (expected) shipping at the end of October ?

If you have a Rev. B MBP, Leopard will be fully 64 bit for you, right?

A Core 2 Duo chip will be 64-bit, anything before that wont be (except, I guess, a G5).

just saw the announcement last night... SO PUMPED!
just pre-ordered the single user. IF it comes to my doorstep on october 26th ill be at uni so ill probably miss the fedex guy. so ill have to go to the post office at the airport to pick it up. unless someone else whos home can sign for it? can you do that?

i reckon im just gonna do an upgrade first so i can play around with leopard in maximum fastness. ill clone my system before the upgrade and do i proper erase and install later on... i just wanna play around with it first and get my first TM backup done.

heres the leopard countdown on my dashboard in tiger... webclip style
