Apple Pay on my iPhone 6+ got declined this morning at Pret a manger. Was only buying a £2.15 coffee!
I have Natwest setup on both phone and watch.
I had to resort to my bank card to pay, oh the shame!
Later on my watch worked fine in Tesco's though?
Not sure what's going on with Pret?! It's worked there before?!

When I've used my iPhone on tfl the touch in and touch out times are recorded in the passbook app under my bank card. Yesterday I used my watch on tfl and it doesn't seem to record anything anywhere, is this right? Also despite touching in and out at 4 different stations and going through 2 sets of barriers, I got an incomplete journey notification with only one of this four stations recorded. Anyone else had this experience with the watch?
I read that you have to use the same device you touched in with when you touch out.
If you use your phone to touch in and your watch to touch out, even if they have the same card registered, you'll get charged the full fare. I think this is because they have different device ID's and it will see it as a different method of payment.

Did it fail totally or just not register? Sometimes the bods on the till don't enable contactless properly I've noticed.

Yep might have not registered. Same thing happened to me went through second time ok.

It registered with the terminal, got the buzz on the phone and a tick on my screen.
The terminal said 'authorising' it took a few seconds longer than normal (probably only 5 seconds but that feels like an eternity when you have a queue of thirsty business men behind you!) then the terminal screen showed 'card declined'.
Tried it twice then resorted to my bank card.
Funnily enough the transaction shows up in passbook as completed, but checked my statements and no transaction went through.
Just used my watch with the same card registered in WHsmith and went straight through no problems?!
Maybe it's my phone?

Could be. Could be the terminal. On the rare occasion I had a problem, it's been with the older looking terminals.

Could always get it checked at an Apple Store, if you get constant issues with the phone.
Just tried Apple Pay on my phone in a Caffé Nero and it went through fine.
It must of been a dodgy terminal when it declined.

Also used the Eurostar boarding pass in passbook on my watch to check in for my trip to Paris this morning!
Very slick :)

I had to try to use Apple Pay three times with my AW in Waitress today. First two times it did not go through altho I did get a tick on my watch each time. Third time lucky! I have only been charged once and so am not sure why the ticks appeared for the failed payments?!

I had the same probably at first at launch using AMEX. Turned out it was an issue on AMEX's end.
I'd contact the bank if the problem persists.

Yes, it is AMEX. If it happens again, I will contact them. I have used it lots of times before and it was fine - just started playing up today.

Used it a few times in France whilst on holiday, including disneyland. Love the reaction of wonder.

Received the following text from First Direct today
"We can see you've tried to set up Apple Pay - if you are having problems then please try to remove and re-add your card. Or give us a call and we can help."
I haven't had the opportunity to try Apple Pay on my Watch with my FD debit card, and was wondering if FD customers were having issues with Apple Pay. Setting up my card worked flawlessly.

I had the exact same experience with my watch at costa on the first day of trying it. Popped in the Apple Store and did a test txn and since then I've not had an issue (not been back to costa since admittedly). I'm putting it down to a squiffy reader.

Had my first Apple Pay experience at McDonald's drive-thru in Andover today. Completely seamless and cool experience. Got the expected "wow that's so cool! I've never had anyone pay on a watch before". Looking forward to trying it out in more places.

One tip I've learned: don't touch the watch to the reader. Hold it close, but not touching, say a centimetre or so away. That fixed things in the only place I encountered any problems (M&S).

Couldn't use it today in Aldi for £33.11, I knew about £20 contactless max but figured Apple Pay might be different lol.

It is in some stores, I believe Wagama and Pret possibly, and definitely the Apple Store.

It will be different soon. Just waiting for an update to go out to the retailers, then they have the option to waive the £20 (soon to be £30) limit. (Providing they have newer terminals). Some, not many, already are able to.

used for the first time yeaterday in starbucks De Vere Flintshire with First Direct. Didn't register 1st time but I got a tick on screen. Worked second time.

Went back today worked first time, and the lady said oh were you in yesterday, my colleague mentioned you, so it does cause interest.

Tried in Tesco,Mold but they dont have contactless.

Just a query do you have to touch the screen with the watch? as I did & worried about scratching the screen! what do most people do? does it actually scan the screen or is it wireless?, and if so what is minimum distance between watch & terminal?, thanks
