I gotta say, this annoys me. I use PayPal a lot. Yes it has its detractors, but it works pretty well and I have never had any issues. Also, it's the payment of choice on eBay which I use often and most of the online shopping I do--and my game accounts--are through PayPal. I like managing it all through one interface. Seems petty to not work it out, especially since PayPal had been around a long time with pretty huge user base I would guess. Just my thoughts.

Along with Samsung, Google, Microsoft, Motorola, HTC, Nokia, LG, WalMart, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, all banks and credit card companies, all cable companies, all insurance companies, etc? Then Apple could fill the void in all those markets too.

I don't get the comparison.

Those are all legitimate companies run by rational human beings that provide a useful service.

And PayPal is, well, none of those things.

In two years the absolute majority of Apple users will have NFC, which is a much much larger group than all users with Android NFC phones combined. That is why it will be successful.

Worldwide, I think your numbers are off. Way off.

Over 280 phones and tablets currently being sold have NFC, and most are Android.

It is predicted that in the coming year alone, there will be about as many non-Apple phones sold with NFC, as all the iPhones ever sold. By 2017, it's estimated that there will be nearly 1 billion NFC equipped phones sold per year.

No need to include paypal. They are not a creditor or a bank. They are just another middle man.

Finally! Someone sensible. And to the matter, allowing Paypal into ApplePay is a mere charity moves on Apple part. Honestly, they don't really need to include Paypal in order for ApplePay to succeed. Banks and financial institutions should be the right partner.

what are your views on applepay outside of the n-america?

will all existing payment terminals work with apple pay?

They are wanting to become one, they have already approached us with their desire to no longer be a middle man but know they have to tread lightly as they would compete with their current suppliers.

No. I still use Google for email and search.

Buy Pal

The thing I hate worst about Pay Pal is that when someone sends me money it takes three days to get into my bank account. Anything more than 24 hours is either because Pay Pal has very poor technology or pure greed on their part.

What I do use Pay Pal for is to buy things today and not have any payments or interest for six or 12 months. I always pay in full before the due date so thanks for the free loan suckers!

PayPal is an absolute garbage company.

Good! I hate both PayPal and ebay, both are companies where scammers roam free and honest people get burnt. If you ever want to be treated like a worthless, disposable piece of s***, all you have to do is call one of these two companies' customer service.

for the few of you that still think paypal is ok you'll only think that til they burn you and then you'll remember the overwhelming majority here who warned you about the truly criminal enterprise that is paypal.

Apple does have the credibility for people to at least trust them and if they enter the online payment market and better yet get into the online auction market via AliBABA or on their own ebay and paypal would turn into black holes as sellers left in droves

As a full time ebay seller since 1997 I know hundreds of fellow sellers and 100% of them wish there was any alternative to ebay and paypal and Apple has the finances make changes

Good, Paypal is a terrible company. One company I do hope they work more closely with is Square. Their mobile payment system is very good.

I knew they were going to do something like ApplePay as soon as the touch ID sensor came out. Credit card info in iTunes + Touch ID= Mobile payment.

The next step is moving apple pay to online payments as well. I imagine it will happen when they put touch ID on the laptops (which I am surprised they haven't yet). Many small companies would probably love to have ApplePay as their single online processor as opposed to Paypal.

Now, if only Apple put a bitcoin wallet into ApplePay...one can dream...

I had a good laugh reading the posts on this.

Had headline been : PayPal joins apple pay and ditches samsung

People would be posting how it's and awesome deal that will revolutionise payments processing....

Paypal teams up with samsung = worst company ever! and here come the flood of hate posts.

iSheep..... What iSheep???

I'm really disappointed that Apple walked away, it's a bit childish to expect another company to work with just you, especially given how heavily apply rely of samsung parts in their devices.

Sorry people , this is your loss. Apple pay is looking more and more like another big feature that never makes it. At least for anyone outside the US, I can't see us getting it for a few years, IF it's successful.

I agree. Apple tries to control everything and everyone. Its definitely childish for them to cancel there deal because of Samsung yet they get so many parts from Samsung for there iphones and iPads. Besides samsung has came firsr with alot of things that apple copies. Big phones, smartwatches and a lot more so i don't see why its such a big deal that Samsung got there first. Paypal is its own company and can do business with whom the feel like it. Apple needs to pull their panties up and stop worrying about other companies.

Seems pretty normal - executives get their feelings hurt and we consumers get shafted. I use PayPal and my iPhone 6 Mega Godzilla edition is ordered. Now I'll have to find another way to conveniently stash my "discretionary funds". Actually, I'll just keep using PayPal, but this petty crap makes me question my patronage.

Is there anyone who will let me take payments from people's charge cards that doesn't charge me fees?

Gary

Not that I'm aware of. If so, they'll have every bank using Visa and MC in the world taking hits out on them!
