I already find iOS to be too busy with gestures, to the point where it often misinterprets my input. It's getting to be a tedious OS to use.

This is the dumbest news I’ve ever heard iPhone X already has a curved display. You unlock your phone by looking at it so those are your gestures.

Took a couple years for Apple to catch up and leap past Samsung with finger print and face scanning id. Yes Apples method is better now but it took a while to get there and they had to copy. The implementation is different but the idea is the same.

What makes you think Samsung can't leap past Apple in a couple years? Samsung has also had touchless guestures for a very long time (wave arcoss the screen to screenshot, flip phone over to mute, using your eyes or tilting the phone to scroll, keeping the display on if it detects your face).

And Samsung is so classy they let Apple copy without lawsuits, unlike Apple that will send in the lawyers for rounded corners.
Since you’re big on the copying thing:). The first phone with a finger print reader was a windows based toshiba in 2007, announced but not launched. The first available device was the atrix in 2011. The first capacitive device was the 5s. Note Samsung was never mentioned in the list as all that company did was copy.

As far as the rest of the post “discussing the lawsuits”, that’s right on topic...

For my needs, I hope Apple keeps all this cute stuff in the X phone catagory only. Or offer them as addon modules for those who need them. More then 50% of my iPhone 7 features I never use.

That's because today's Apple is a company devoted to their shareholders, not their customers. If you own their stock, you love them. If you want a choice of form-factor computers with current technology at an affordable price, you hate them.
Cook is also known to tell shareholders that if they’re not in it for the long term gains then to go invest their money into another company. Don’t simplify it to, they’re a corporation so all they care about is making their shareholders money. It’s not that black and white. He has more guts than most CEOs.

Oh no, not curved screens! Then there is no real effective protective case option without a flip cover... First they make the whole phone glass - an item that you drop at least a few times per week. And now they will make it very hard for you to protect your screen when dropped.

LG did the curve screen already. It flopped.
Also touchless gesture control. You mean like Xbox had? You mean like apple could do with the existing FaceID sensor, that was created by the company that did the Xbox initially?

Bloomberg, idiots again.......

I would settle for something like this

Is the crack in the screen included? :D

None of this sounds remotely interesting to me. Apple should put serious energy and resources into Siri. I want to speak conversationally with my device. I want it to understand context. It should be capable of stringing together multiple requests while maintaining an awareness of previous requests and their answers. The company that nails an interactive voice assistant will be the next "big thing." Curved screens and air gestures just sound fashion-y to me.

Wasn’t there a report a couple weeks ago by a Bank of America analyst that Apple would have a folding display iPhone in 2020? Two years away?

These financial analysts really have absolutely no idea what to predict in Apple’s future. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. If it ain’t a Ming-Chi Kuo or maybe a MacOtakara rumor, it ain’t a rumor. It’s pure speculation.

I am pretty sure Ming-Chi Kuo gets his information directly from Apple, gets paid for it, and to not seem it obvious Apple also spreads/gives fake info to him or they have a deal to be not 100% accurate.

He is more accurate than not.

(Instead) Would strongly prefer:

1.) "Hardware Home Button under Glass" <-- NOT Touch ID under Glass, just a Hardware Home Button function so that manually managing the DRAM is possible on Face ID-equipped Apple mobile devices (i.e., efficiently manually removing backgrounded apps) ... if Apple isn't working on this, they should be !

2.) 10-bit Display P3 capture + 10-bit Display P3 display + support for Rec. 2100-compliant 1080p HD HDR video playback, via PQ and/or HLG, AND with ICtCp support ! ... this represents the NEXT BIG THING in mobile !

3.) Work with the mobile industry to develop a license-FREE 10-bit extended color space replacement for JPEG that uses ICtCp.

4.) An emphasis on developing Apple mobile devices that cost less than $650 USD, and which include AT LEAST 3 GB of DRAM ! ... Tim Cook is the ONLY CEO on the planet who pretends to know anything about coding, but knows nothing about the value of DRAM !

If Apple had had real (U.S.-based) competition since the iPhone 6 came out, they would be Sunk right now ... trading @ 1/5th of where they are !

I've never been distracted or annoyed by the notch in landscape mode. Rarely even notice it.

People get annoyed by the notch but have Tv's with huge branded logo's on them like Samsung and that does not seem to annoy them,or even worse, software/firmware including Ads like LG did or still is doing.

How can you compare a notch that cuts the screen in the middle to a TV logo that's small and stays on the bottom and doesn't interfere with the screen content?

i don't run any apps that do that. Obviously the developer needs to fix it by using constraints anchored to the safe margin.
Right. But watching movies is the same thing.

That photo doesn't bother me at all. After a minute I don't even see it. (And if I did care I could letterbox)

How about just putting Touch ID under the damn glass so our lives can be more simple again.
I don't want to have to learn sign language to use my phone. I'm running out of insulting adjectives to describe Tim Cook's 13 year old girlish ideas.
Using "girlish" as an insult undermines any point you are trying to make.
