nice high tech add, futuristic looking with the white rooms (hence apple all white theme)
catchy tune and the really put the heat on pcs saying they've done nothing for pcs (which they have lol) and no they are the bast thing they could do for mac

imagine the possibilities as if anything really changed drastically since the powerpc?

it should be accepted/expected that cpu speeds will get faster... so it happens to be intel that's support the mac platform now.

great. possibilities are no more greater or lesser than before. cuz guess what... there are A LOT of other machines and pieces of software powered by intel chips. let's not forget about amd

Uhh was intel cool with this add... it kinda wails on pc's, is this an intel add or purely a mac add?

I'm sure Intel doesn't care - it's only a matter of time before Apple is their biggest customer anyway, since the downfall of the PC is imminent. ;) :D

Gotta toss up a negative on this ad.

Dull little boxes doing dull little tasks? Really? Um, lets see, nearly every feature film for the last 10 years has been made on intel chips, and nearly every single game over the last 10 years have been developed using intel chips.

I mean, Apple should be excited to be using intel, but dont knock others for using them before. They were BETTER all along! Apple has FINALLY caught up. Talk about spin. I think the ad is rude and condescending for a "oops, all this bullcrap about megahertz myth we've been feeding you for 8 years, forget about that. We were wrong, sorry" ad.

I think you are taking it the wrong way. Apple wasn't trying to bad-mouth the intel processor, it was trying to bad-mouth the Windows PC. The commercial was saying "Intel has always made a good processor, and finally it can go in the computer it deserves."

And the "megahertz myth" is true! If you haven't noticed, the Core Duo (one of intel's newest and best chips) is only at 2.0 GHz.

Not enough showing off of cool Apples like the iMac, way too much time spent on the technicians.

Apple is just out of practice when it comes to making Mac commercials, since they've been focusing on the iPod so much - give 'em some time... ;)

I'd love to be able to watch the ad... I can hear it, but not see it, because the 'dull little' Dell I'm on needs plug-ins to watch it :) And because I'm on dial up at the moment, QuickTime will take 2.5hrs to download...

Does anyone have it in WMP or knows a site that is hosting it that format?

Btw, the voice freaks me out. Only time I've ever heard it he was the killer in Phonebooth lol! Got an instant chill when I first heard it...

I think of the word Dull in a different way....Dull = DELL. Apple is not knocking Intel chips, but the maker of the boxes DELL.

A lot of people kept using PCs because of the processors (PPC is slow, etc).

This is more targeted at potential switchers if you ask me.

It definitely makes it a lot easier to compare Macs to PCs for people when they have the same chips under the hood.

Ehehe... now that you mention the voice... I don't know if it's Kiefer Sutherland's or not, but of one thing I'm sure: it reminds me a lot of the "1984" ad. And even though someone pointed out the similarities between this ad and that video clip (which I haven't checked out yet), I think there are some similarities between the two ads. There's the whole "liberation" theme on both, and the short phrases pronounced in a cool voice... "On January 24th...", "Starting today, the Intel chip will be set free...", "You will see why 1984 won't be like '1984'"! And who's the "enemy" on the first ad? IBM... On the second, while the "enemy" is clearly Microsoft, the ad itself is a very deep stab at IBM, once again... Think about it. I think (duh) we are witnessing the Mac's second coming! ;)

VERY NICE...It's good to see actual Mac commercials, instead of just iPod ones. The only place I see ads for Macs are at the front of Time magazines and Mac-devotee ones. Anyway, very nice. *tear* Poor PowerPC.

Any way to download this Ad?
Of course. If you have Quicktime Pro you can download almost any Quicktime Movie. Just click on the down facing arrow in the lower right and select save as Quicktime Movie.

And if you don't have QT pro? I should probably get it, but I'm afraid as soon as I do Apple will come out with QT 8 and I'll have wasted that money.

yep

Is it just me or is the picture quality of that streaming quicktime video really, really, really good? Like best I've ever seen good.

I definitely noticed the same thing. Got some lag throughout (no surprise), but the quality was very, very good on my cable connection w/ latest Quicktime.

And, the ad is great. :D
